Tom from The Grand Theft Pub Underground demonstrates how to make four refreshing coconut rum cocktails designed to bring a tropical beach vibe to any setting. He shares specific recipes, mixing tips, and his personal tasting notes to help viewers create the perfect summer drinks.
Tonight's forecast calls for sunshine, palm trees, and a whole lot of coconut rum.
Hey guys, Tom here. Welcome back to the underground. Tonight we decided if we can't be sitting on a
tropical beach we're going to put some coconut rum in a glass and pretend that's right you don't
need sunscreen or a swimsuit because we're going to be mixing up some coconut rum cocktails that
hopefully will transport you to your favorite sandy destination. So sit back, relax, grab a glass of
your favorite beverage, and come join us for a tropical coconut party. So let's get going.
I'm going to make four coconut rum cocktails for you today. As you know,
coconut rum around here is Caribbean coconut rum. This is our favorite coconut rum but
I mean obviously use whatever coconut rum you have, whatever coconut rum you like.
They're all going to be good and you will have a good time.
Now the first one I'm going to make for you is called a coconut
pineapple cocktail. Now it's pretty simple. I don't know why I'm filling that glass because
I gotta put it in here. See I'm so excited for these coconut drinks that I'm losing my mind a
little bit. But what I do want you to do is subscribe to The Underground. That's right, you need to subscribe to
The Grand Theft Pub Underground because we do a lot of fun stuff here. We're having a tropical
coconut party tonight. We have live theme parties the first Friday of every month. We do contests,
we do taste tests, we do happy hours. So if you enjoy a good cocktail, enjoy it responsibly,
this is the place that you want to be. And whatever you do, make sure that you smash that
like button. Leave us a little tip. Hit the like button. Share this with somebody that you know
that might enjoy a nice cocktail and that would help us out a ton. And I would really appreciate
it. But with that out of the way, let's get making some coconut rum cocktails. I need for this one,
which I call, I believe I told you already, the coconut pineapple cocktail. This is going to be
what am I trying to say? Oh, pina colada. This is going to have a very like a pina colada vibe
to it a little bit. Just because of the things we're putting in it. Coconut, obviously. And
then how about some pineapple juice? That's certainly apropos for pina colada. And then I need
which I need this right here. Now we made something similar to this on our live martini party.
But that's all right. This is more of a cocktail that you can hang out, relax,
sip it by the pool, by the beach, on your deck, wherever you might be hanging out
having some cocktails. And this will work just fine. And I need about half ounce of
cream of coconut, your favorite. That's about half ounce. And then just some lime juice.
About a half ounce of that as well. And what the lime does, it just kind of cuts the richness of
the coconut and everything. And really, can you have a tropical,
delicious cocktail without just a touch of lime? I don't think so. Here we go.
You know me, I just go dirty ice. Why waste the ice cubes? They gave our life. We gave
a piece of pineapple. You can put that in there. I don't have a piece of pineapple.
What I do have is an orange. So I will put an orange in there just because to give us something
nice to look at. And we are off and running at the beach or at your favorite beach destination
with this first one, the coconut pineapple cocktail. All right. Next up is one that we're
calling the coconut mango cooler. Coconut mango. Really?
There's two great drinks that taste great together, right?
So actually, you know what? I'm very off with my ice tonight for some reason.
So again, coconut rum. This time only an ounce and a half.
And then I need some mango nectar, which as you know, you can find in mostly any store now.
But you got to be careful when you buy this stuff because I have found
when you go in the Latin aisle and you buy the small cans that are probably,
I don't know, eight or 10 or 11 ounces, those have high fructose corn syrup in it,
which is very bad for you. But if you buy the carton that's about the paper carton,
it's about that big, that just has invert sugaring, which is not high fructose corn syrup.
So be sure to read the labels. If you're going to drink, at least drink stuff that's good for you
when you can. Some lime juice again. Some orange liqueur.
Why not? We'll use a little. Oh, low TV. We'll use a little. I think it's,
oh, we've got to get some more of this stuff. I think we have some.
Probably better to check. Yeah, we have another one over there.
Coconut mango lime orange liqueur. Correct. Correct. Correct.
Now we will take it and put it in this glass.
Yep, that worked out well. And then, just to top it off,
top it with a little club soda.
And for this one, all we need is lime, some sunglasses, and a cool lounge chair.
And we will enjoy a refreshing cocktail with the coconut mango cooler.
All right, next up is another one. And we're actually just going to build this one
right in the glass. So I can grab that one.
And again, it starts with coconut rum. It should be the other one. On the last one,
I'm going to use the other one just for S&G, you know. Coconut rum and then the same amount of
orange juice. This is freshly squozed because the orange juice that I had was in the freezer
and it didn't thaw. But I did have a couple oranges, so I just squozed it.
So this is going to be extra delicious. Again, two pineapple. So it's two coconut,
two orange, two pineapple. That's it, right? And then, and then, to give it that sunset effect,
a little grenadine right around the top. A little cherry for that one. And our third one.
We're enjoying everything coconut rum tonight. The Malibu sunset.
And finally, one more from the underground here.
And that's going to go in the big boy. We need some coconut rum. So why not try,
because, you know, all coconut rums are different, right? That's an ounce and a half of coconut rum,
one ounce of passion fruit, one ounce of pineapple.
Half ounce of, now this is interesting, a Tropic Valley drink.
A half ounce peach schnapps.
Another half ounce of lime. There you have it.
I'm going to give this a good shake. See, and that's a good thing about these
kind of refreshing poolside, beachside cocktails. They're not overly, overly alcoholic.
So you're not going to get hammered out in the sun, right?
Especially when you give it a good shake like that, because,
just for something different, just a little more ice in there. And then just like the other one,
top it off with some soda. This time we're going to go with a lime and cherry.
And if that's not a refreshing cocktail for the beach, I don't know what is, gang.
So cheers to you. The last one of the evening, the Coconut Sunchaser.
All right, guys, there is our lineup of coconut rum cocktails to enjoy this summer.
I hate to say it, the summer is winding down, and we got to get to it while we can,
because before you know it, I hate to say it, we'll be raking leaves.
But enjoy the summer while you can, and we're going to do that with these four cocktails tonight.
I think they're going to be good. I'm looking forward to this. I'm thirsty. I'm parched.
Perfect day for it. So let's get right into it. Right after I remind you,
Grantham Pub Underground is a great place to be. So be sure to subscribe to the Underground,
turn on notifications. You won't miss anything. Whenever the bar is open, you'll be notified,
and you can come hang out with us and have a good time. And share and like so we can grow.
And maybe we'll have to put an addition on the Underground, because we'll grow so much
thanks to you guys. Here, let's get into it. It's that time, my favorite time of the day. Ready?
Drink. Let's see. I'll try this one first, the Coconut Pineapple Cocktail, which is going to be
kind of just like a lighter version of a Pina Colada, I would suggest.
So cheers to you guys. Cheers to summer. Cheers to delicious cocktails. That's nice.
I mean, it's got a very Pina Colada vibe. The vanilla vodka in there really adds a little
something, makes it, just amps it up. It gives it more of a richer flavor, I think. I mean,
vanilla is just that warm, rich, fatty flavor. That's good. And just a little bit of that club
soda really, really makes it so you can, it's not so super, so super sweet, because you know,
just put a little bit of coconut cream in there. So how about this one? We'll go back and rate
it afterwards. Cheers to the coconut mango. I'm a big fan of mango. That's good. Did I taste it?
Yeah, I did. That tastes a little more alcohol-y than the others. I've tried one other.
And there's not a lot of alcohol in there. You know what it is? I think it's probably
the Grand Marnier. Maybe you just use triple sec, you get the same like orange,
orange in there, but it's good. Try again. Yeah, that's nice. I like that one. I actually think I
like that one better than, than like creamy. Like, I'm weird. I'm one of those people, like,
creamy is not refreshing to me. Like, if I'm a hot summer day, people's like, oh, let's go get
ice cream. It doesn't do it for me. Same reason with that, with the coconut cream in there. It
doesn't do it for me. Maybe without the coconut cream would be good, but I digress.
What did we make next? Next, next we made this Malibu Sunset. Coconut, orange,
pineapple, and then just a wee drizzle of grenadine. Cheers to you guys. Thanks for
coming and hanging out with me. That's very Bahama Mama-y. Actually, that's, that's, that's very,
that's, um, that is very Bahama Mama. Well, not really. It's got a Bahama Mama vibe,
but it's not necessarily Bahama Mama, but it is necessarily delicious. And then finally,
our Coconut Sunchaser. Coconut, passion fruit, pineapple, peach schnapps, and lime, and soda.
Cheers one more time. That's very good. Here's the thing. Not only do I find
creamy to be not very refreshing and thirst quenching on a hot day, I feel the same about
sweet. These all have a bit of sweetness to them, with the coconut rum and the juices
and the liqueurs and whatnot. Yes, the club soda, except in a few of them, does kind of,
um, lighten it up a little bit. But when I think of super refreshing, I think more of like light
citrusy. Citrusy to me is, is more refreshing than sweet and creamy.
That being said, these are all very good. Now, if I were to rate them, and the fact that I said that,
because I am. One, two, three, four. If you like sweet, you would like these. If you like creamy,
you would like that. If you like fruity, you would like any of them. If you like coconut,
obviously you would like them all. But they each have their own vibe, and, and, uh, I don't think
you would go wrong with any of them on your beach excursion, or if you just want a little beach in
your own backyard, try one of these. You will be not, you will be not, you will not be disappointed.
And you can, uh, have a good time wherever you're putting your feet in the sand, whether it's
in a beach, on some tropical shoreline, or just tinkling your toes in the kiddie pool in your
backyard. You will have fun and enjoy these drinks. So thanks for stopping by and spending
just a little bit of time with me. I really do appreciate it. Come back and see us again when
we have more great cocktails to share with you and give you some ideas for your next cocktail
adventure. So until then, remember, I will see you soon. Cheers!
