In Bien Hoa, Dong Nai, during the 10th lunar month, visitors should not miss the Kai Yen Festival at Tam Long Communal House, an event rich in tradition and local folk spirit. Tam Long Communal House, also known as Tam Long Ancient Temple, is where Tran Phuong Shuyen is worshipped. A man who helped open up and develop Dong Nai. The communal house stands on Nguyen Van Tri Street in Bien Hoa City, facing the Dong Nai River. In 1991, Tam Long Communal House was recognized as a National Historic and Architectural Artistic Site. Every year, from the 22nd to the 24th day of the 10th lunar month, the Kai Yen Festival at Tam Long Communal House takes place with many unique cultural and religious activities. It is a time for locals to pray for peace, favorable weather, and good harvests, and to show gratitude to the deities and their ancestors. Every year, when the festival comes around, I make time to attend and pray for peace, good fortune, and happiness for everyone. This year, the festival is held with solemn traditional rituals, such as the altar opening rite, the sacrificial offering rite, the preliminary ceremony, and the grand ceremonial rite, lion, unicorn, and dragon dances, and Vietnamese opera performances. Each year, the event grows larger, livelier, and more grandly organized. But it must always preserve its cultural identity for future generations. A special highlight of the festival is performances by more than 50 lion, unicorn, and dragon dance troupes from Dong Nai and nearby provinces such as Ban Dung, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Can Tho, and Nha Trang. Visitors, especially children, are thrilled by the lion dance. The annual Chi Yen festival at Tan Lon communal house helps locals better understand the traditional culture of Bien Hoa, Dong Nai. From there, they come to cherish and honor the nation's long-standing cultural values.
