It FINALLY happened... MAJOR SIGNING INCOMING
Aug 22, 2026
It has finally happened. A major acquisition is incoming for this Miami Heat organization
as Klay Thompson, the veteran marksman from behind the three-point line, has officially
been bought out by the Dallas Mavericks. And all signs based off all the information that we now
have are pointing to him actually being acquired by this Miami Heat team once he officially clears
waivers. I'm here to break down all of the new updates surrounding Klay Thompson and how Miami
is by far and away the favorites to acquire him on this episode of Heat Digest so let's not waste
any time and get right to it breaking down the new information surrounding Klay. One of the
greatest three-point shooters to ever pick up a basketball and how he's going to become the newest
member to this Miami Heat organization. So it all started at 310 as the Dallas Mavericks actual
Twitter team page post this. One of the greatest to ever do it, champion or champion leader and a
true pro thanks for everything cap with a blue heart emoji and a thank you graphic of Klay Thompson
and then we got this information from Shams just a few minutes after breaking Klay Thompson is
expected to sign with the Miami Heat after he clears waivers upon a contract buyout with the
Dallas Mavericks sources tell ESPN and it doesn't end there as we got this tweet from Shams where
Thompson and the Mavericks navigated a buyout from his 17.5 million dollar expiring salary after the
four-time NBA champion made it clear to Dallas that he wanted to play for a championship contender.
The Heat made one of the NBA's all-time greatest shooters their top free agent priority this summer
to surround Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam on a bio and waited nearly two months on his release.
Now we all know this the reason being is because we have broken it down at nauseam on this channel
because ever since the acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo yes there was Tim Hardaway Jr.
Yes they brought back Simon Fontecchio but it was clear Shams went on NBA or ESPN or NBA on ESPN
and made it clear the Miami Heat's forefront right now for the rest of the offseason is shooting and
he said shooting shooting shooting shooting that is what they want and yes they went out and got
Tim Hardaway Jr. Yes they brought back Fontecchio they brought back Andrew Wiggins De'Veon Mitchell
is still there and they have a good amount of shooting currently as this team is currently
constructed and all of the reports we've been breaking down was former NBA players current NBA
players credible minds covering the game of basketball stating that the Miami Heat simply
do not have nearly enough shooting. Now I argued against that because I felt like there was a
decent if not a good amount of three-point shooting already on this Miami Heat team
but you can never have enough three-point shooting especially in today's game of basketball as
everyone seems to live and die by that shot especially when you have a roster with two
legitimate juggernauts that dominate the painted area and from the three-point line and in
in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo and with those two guys now a part of this team or being a
part of this team I should say and maintaining the three-point shooting they actually have
with Klay or we can assume Klay Thompson we do not want to jump the gun here because Shams
has missed a few times over the last few months on his reporting and again I'm not
downplaying Shams he's the best insider covering the game of basketball right now but let's not
get ahead of ourselves Klay Thompson is now available to 29 teams in the association but
based off the reports it seems like all signs are pointing him towards Miami which is absolutely
phenomenal to add him to this puzzle is going to be prolific to say the absolute least you're
going to add more depth to the two-guard position with two absolute marksmen in Tim Hardaway Jr.
and Klay Thompson at the forefront of that position and we all know Klay Thompson can
move down and play the three if need be because of the size he maintains and no he's not the
defender he once was earlier on in his illustrious 13-year NBA career but he still maintains good
enough abilities to move his feet laterally on the perimeter and even if he's not even credible
he's running them into absolute problems whether he's playing alongside Andrew Wiggins, De'Veon
Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, and Giannis Antetokounmpo if Klay can just run him into any of those four
other players while on while he's on the court he is going to look just fine defensively and he
won't be considered a liability I don't know if the Miami he could have signed anyone this
offseason and had them look like a defensive liability in this up-and-coming season that was
one of the huge talking points for LeBron James in the hope that the Miami would be able to acquire
him this offseason before he chose to go to Philadelphia and play for the 76ers because
even at his ripe age and not being able to be the greatest defender at this point in his career that
we've witnessed through his long and very very good career it wouldn't have mattered he could
got blown by every single time he was in isolation and he'd be the offensive player just be running
into a wall of great defenders and defensive players in the painted area or even the frito
line extended in the just off the box it wouldn't matter with Bam's athleticism and Giannis's
athleticism not to mention the other credible wings and guards on this team there's not going
to be any lack of defense being played even if someone does take a possession off I'm mentioning
Klay Thompson Tim Hardaway jr the the hypothetical of LeBron being on this team it wouldn't have made
that much of a difference in my honest opinion so why is this so massive well to be honest with you
guys 20 minutes ago I recorded this video or not excuse me not that video that is from pll or excuse
me dlls sports where they discuss everything Dallas Mavericks and Mark Stein was on there and
we discussed a lot of the quotes from him and this video was scheduled to go live at 6 p.m today
that video is not going live anymore because of the updates we just received and this is huge and
the reason being is because the Miami Heat missed out on guys like DeMar DeRozan who's still available
on the free agency market but like I had mentioned my disliking for that idea and that move for the
heat the potential move for the Miami Heat but they also missed out on guys like Bradley Beal
and the reason being is because they wanted one name in particular yeah LeBron would have been
great but after LeBron missed they knew what they wanted and they wanted Klay Thompson and they were
playing a big game of chicken with the Dallas Mavericks and this is what I was alluding to I
keep saying that over and over again if you guys don't know what I'm exactly saying the Miami Heat
want a player from the Dallas Mavericks that player was Klay Thompson they knew the only way they
wanted to acquire him is if he was bought out by the Mavericks but the Mavericks can dangle Klay
Thompson in a trade situation where hey we're not gonna buy him out so whoever wants to come out
and offer us anything for Klay Thompson he's yours which means 29 teams could have went out
there and offered a second round pick for Klay Thompson and they probably could have got him
because why would the Dallas Mavericks just buy out a contract for Klay rather than trading him
straight up for goods in any form of asset they could get back now they're going to let him walk
on the free agency market he's going to go to another team he's going to prosper with that team
and compete for an NBA championship and now they get nothing in return so Miami was playing a big
game of chicken hey I don't think anyone's going to offer you think any anything to you of any form
of value for Klay Thompson in a trade including us the Miami Heat speaking from Pat Riley's
perspective here and because of that we're going to sit back kick our feet up and wait for the that
breaking news that he is bought out by your organization because you're not going to get
anything in the trade conversations from any of the 29 teams looking to acquire him or possibly
looking to acquire him I should say and when he does get bought out we will be the first team to
then reach out to Klay Thompson and we will have the contract ready for him depending on the
financials of the actual buyout and what actually was bought out from the Dallas Mavericks what's
still on the contract and all the other fine moving parts so this was huge the Miami Heat did
win in this transaction they bit they called the bluff of the Dallas Mavericks and their ability
to trade someone like Klay Thompson and they ended up winning because he was bought out and now it
seems like he's going to be a member of this Miami team I will say De'Veon Mitchell is very excited
because Sham's Twitter post that we mentioned earlier was then posted on Instagram
obviously because it has to go out on all socials because he works for ESPN and De'Veon Mitchell
didn't waste any time immediately reposting it on his Instagram story and he seems very surprised
and very excited about this possible acquisition now again Klay's on a one-year 17.5 million dollar
deal we have to wait and see how much of that is actually bought out by the Dallas Mavericks to see
if that 8.5 million dollar exception is what Miami is going to present to Klay Thompson have it be
actually formidable and actually have it work and uh it's exciting I can't wait to see how it all
works out the Miami Heat now adding Klay Thompson is going to have another layer of three-point
shooting in depth at the two and three positions which is again exactly what they were looking for
this is a big win for the Miami Heat but again do not celebrate yet we have to see the finalized
breaking news that the Klay Thompson is a member officially of this Miami Heat organization and
once that happens we can officially celebrate but this is a hell of a way or a hell of a step to
take forward in hopes of that actually happening thank you guys for watching I will see you guys
on the next episode of Heat Digest.
