It is one of the most sanctified duties of our United States Congress,
voting on major issues that affect every single American.
And on a fateful day in June, Senator Mitch McConnell voted yes.
Or no, whatever.
Senator Mitch McConnell was showing serious signs of confusion
just 10 days before the last time he's been seen in public.
Charlie Cotton, our DC correspondent, looked at extensive video of this marathon session.
Up means yes, down means no. How do you vote?
Oh, he voted up.
That is the Senate clerk who knows that Mitch McConnell accidentally pointed up.
And approaches McConnell's chief of staff, Terry Carmack.
And says, hey, Terry, Terry, mate, Mitch voted up.
Should have voted down. Terry, quickly, Mitch. Hey, Mitch, mate.
Let's see what Mitch does.
Oh, no. Changes his vote.
It is quite shocking.
The headline is actually, Charlie Cotton made C-SPAN interesting.
Mitch McConnell blowing his nose.
Eat your heart out, CNN. But it gets better during another vote.
The Senate clerk looks over at Mitch McConnell, who's sitting down,
and underneath the table gives a little down vote indication.
Let's see.
Should we need that help?
Now that's a party who's just collecting the votes.
They don't want to be embarrassed by voting wrong.
I think it's just, it's a nice collegial thing.
I get it, but it's shocking.
So what else did Charlie, our man in D.C., get out of this?
He also apparently watched five hours and 58 minutes
just to see that Mitch didn't move from one spot.
Neither did Charlie.
Feel better, Mitch. We'll see you voting yay or nay once again.
Maybe at the same time.
