AI GeneratedThe video discusses the ongoing instability surrounding Klay Thompson's future with the Dallas Mavericks. Reports suggest Thompson is pushing for a way out, with the Miami Heat showing strong interest and Thompson expressing a desire to play for a championship contender or potentially retire as a Golden State Warrior. Meanwhile, the Mavericks prefer a trade over a buyout.
Trying to sabotage the Dallas Mavericks in what has been a ridiculous offseason filled
with rumors surrounding the future of Klay Thompson.
Some major updates have just dropped revealing the truth behind his future with Dallas, but
he also just spoke out today and made some more comments trying to force his way it seems
out of Dallas.
We're going to write down these new reports, discuss what it means going forward as well
as a ton of other updates, including interesting notes surrounding Santi Aldama and more.
But before we get into it, a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
You guys have been a piece of the support.
It truly means the world to me and it's obviously a very dry part of the offseason, but more
and more reports keep coming out about the Dallas Mavericks making a trade.
Now, obviously it's getting a little bit boring at times surrounding, you know, hearing about
Daniel Gaffer potentially being traded PJ Washington for months.
Ultimately they're keeping PJ Washington, but I do want to dive into this because there
is a lot of things to discuss and I want to start with this now, multiple reports to obviously
talk about today, but you can see this year per Mark Stein, the Miami heat are desperate
to try to acquire clay Thompson per the Stein line.
And let's just start with this.
So obviously we've heard over the past few weeks, past few months, really now it seems
like at this point that, you know, the Mavericks are open to trading clay Thompson, but they
will not be buying him out.
We heard teams like the Lakers, obviously the Warriors, which we'll dive into in a minute
to reunite with Stephen Curry and others.
But now it seems like the heat are desperate to try to acquire clay Thompson, which I find
a little bit interesting because they could get him for, I would assume a half reasonable
price, right?
It's not like the Mavericks are going to come out and charge the heat, a ton of assets draft
capital for clay Thompson, especially at this point where it seems like he's trying to somewhat
push his way out.
It's not happening though.
Right?
Like it doesn't seem like it's actually happening and we can go back to what clay said just
a few days ago.
I want to compete for a championship, not necessarily win one, but just have the chance
to go and try to get another one.
I want to play a role in a team that I want to make a deep playoff run with.
So this was what started the controversy to a degree.
People were talking about, is he trying to say he doesn't want to be in Dallas, trying
to force his way out of Dallas.
And ultimately I think the Mavericks like maybe can compete for a championship.
Like it would definitely, you have Kyrie Irving, so it depends on any Cooper flag.
Of course, it would definitely be a optimistic point of view to say that.
And I think the average person wouldn't consider the Mavericks, one of the teams that are competing
for a championship.
It seems more like the heat, the warriors for him to come out and say that is notable,
especially with reports that dropped a couple of days ago saying that the heat are desperate
to acquire clay Thompson.
And it does make sense why the heat would be desperate.
They have a team now where, you know, their bench is super thin.
They want veterans.
They want proven winners.
Clay Thompson obviously won a couple championships.
So all that to be said, we can dive into the full report a little bit more.
To this point, the Mavs position has not changed per Mark Stein.
They would prefer to trade him clay Thompson.
All we know is Miami is desperate for clay Thompson, but they want to sign him as a free
agent.
They would not be the only team interested.
So it goes back again to the same old story of clay Thompson wants to be a seams of Miami
heat, whereas the Mavericks are not buying him out.
And the only way that he's going to go to the heat seemingly is if the heat are able
to get him as a free agent, which would obviously mean the Mavericks would have to buy him out.
All of that to be said, I don't think at this point, the Mavericks are actually interested
in buying him out.
But with each day that goes on and more comments that come out, it does seem like he wants
to not be here.
Like it doesn't we're not getting the vibe of a player that wants to play for the Mavericks
flag for Kyrie Irving.
And he is scheduled and kind of pencil in as the backup guard slash forward to this
team.
So he's pencil in for a pretty important role.
And obviously last year had a down year, all things considered.
Right.
And that's always going to be kind of the sticking point last year was that he had such
a down year.
But at the same time, he's still a somewhat valuable player that there's no reason for
the Mavericks to get rid of him for nothing.
The only way I think they're going to buy him out is if he like demands and things get
ugly and they want to.
We have good vibes right now.
Right.
You want to stick with the good vibes.
Still a great three point shooter.
Not a great defender anymore.
Obviously, past past that point of his career.
But things are getting weird.
Now, today, a report just came out or not even a report, a comment from Clay Thompson
himself.
And he told the fan to be nice if he could retire a warrior.
Now there's two ways to think about this.
Is he talking about a one day contract and retiring as a warrior or is he talking about
he wants to join the Warriors right now?
Either way, the PR that is kind of undergoing here.
It's not great.
Right.
Like there are ways for him to get around the media.
We've seen it from multiple other players.
He could say he's happy in Dallas.
He could say in general, he's happy, you know, elsewhere.
He seems like he doesn't want to be with the Dallas Mavericks anymore.
And I don't want to say sabotage.
I don't mean he's necessarily forcing his way out yet, but definitely seems like he
almost is pushing towards a buyout, which is super interesting and often that happens
anymore.
Now, where the Mavericks currently stand to hear two sources brief in the process said
this week that it remains unclear how the situation will play out.
Dallas currently has 16 standard contract on its books, one more than the league maximum
that will be allowed as of August 19th.
Thompson, for his part, indicated on a recent Twitch stream that he wants to be playing
on a contender at age 26.
Are the Mavericks a contender?
Probably not to the average fan, but at the same time, what could the Heat give in a trade?
That's been a big question.
Now this report also came out from Mark Stein revealing that Klay Thompson and Masai Ujiri
have had direct contact with each other.
The Stein line has learned there has been indeed direct contact between Masai Ujiri
and Thompson, but Dallas has maintained since mid-June that it prefers to trade Thompson
and Thompson potentially wants to get bought out.
But again, with the 16 standard contracts, it becomes interesting and let's dive into
a minute.
Let's assume that he wants to go to the Heat and he's going to force his way out of the
Heat because who knows what these conversations are like behind the scenes as well.
That's something that people don't really talk about.
They could be great.
They could be bad.
They could be gritty.
They could be really, you know, cordial.
This report came out as well from Brett Siegel that the Heat are hesitant to trade Nikola
Jovic or Klay Thompson, which is absurd, per Brett Siegel.
Jovic is one of Miami's few remaining young assets after trading Tyler Herro, Kalil Ware,
Hamahakis Jr. and Kespers, uh, Iconius, I always mispronounce that, but regardless,
with Jovic, he is probably viewed as a, not a negative asset, but his contract is hefty
at this point.
So we talked about if the, you know, Mavericks are going to take on that contract, it's going
to require a first round pick back.
It seems the Heat aren't even willing to trade him period, which then opens up the question
of how close are these teams at all to even being, you know, potentially trade partners.
I think the answer is not very, uh, not very high.
So comment down below what your thoughts are on all this.
It keeps getting crazier, but also come talk about Santi Aldama.
So Santi Aldama will miss the FIBA World Cup qualifiers that prioritize recovering following
surgery.
The belief in Dallas, I'm told is Santi Aldama will be ready for training camp when practices
start September 23rd ish.
Aldama had mid-March knee surgery and the Mavs and Rockets are able to hold practices
before league-wide September 29th start because they play preseason games abroad.
So this is notable because people saw this initially, uh, seven hours ago, so this morning
and thought that the injury was worse than we thought and how the recovery and the rehab
process is taking way longer.
Not necessarily the case.
It's just that he's going to, he's going to be ready, right?
They just want to make sure that he's going to be actually good to go because he's a crucial
part of this team.
We look at his stats last year, obviously an under the radar trade acquisition by the
Dallas Mavericks, but it's that's last year, like pretty solid, right?
We obviously saw multiple times, you know, 14.6 rebounds shot pretty good from three.
He's going to be a critical part of this team going forward.
And it's just interesting because their odds to make the playoffs right now still sit at
a pretty staggeringly low 31% and that includes the plan, I believe.
But at the same time, you know, comment down below where you guys currently stand with
all this and where you stand with a clay Thompson potentially wanted to ditch Kyrie over and
Cooper Kyrie Irving, sorry.
And Cooper flag want to go, wants to go play with Steph Curry again or the Miami heap.
A lot of new news is coming.
Ultimately, I do think a trade is on the horizon, so let me know down below what your thoughts
are on all this.
And most importantly, would you want to trade?
