Shadow Housing Secretary James Cleverley MP delivers a wide-ranging and outspoken response to some of the biggest political issues making headlines. He hits out at Labour over the use of the emergency phone alert system during the wildfires, arguing that the public warning system should be reserved for genuine emergencies and accusing the Government of being “drunk on power” over its use.

Cleverley also takes aim at Reform UK’s plans to prevent foreign nationals from claiming welfare, arguing that the party is “all over the place” on benefits. He also explains why he believes tougher measures are needed to tackle the rise in illegal traveller settlements, insisting that action must be taken and that “this cannot be allowed.”

Elsewhere, Cleverley reacts to reports that water companies could be given the power to charge customers more during periods of drought, saying he is “not at all comfortable” with the proposals.
