How Many Rolls of Paper Towels to Stop a Bullet?

How many paper towel rolls would it take to stop a bullet? I have a bunch of paper towels on our table here. I have Fred standing by at the end. Will he survive? And would the paper towels stop a bullet? As usual, we are going to put our paper towels through 11 levels of destruction, starting small and working our way all the way up to the 50 count. And we will see how many rolls it would take to stop each round. Let's do this. Starting out small, level one with our 22. I mean, I don't even know if this is going through one. I think that one roll would actually stop a 22. You think so? I think so. All right, let's see. Here we go. 22 versus paper towels. Firing. A little, I saw a little puff of paper, Zach. Oh, I was completely wrong. It went through like three. Did it? Yeah. Boom, boom, boom. Stopped right here in number three, Zach. So our 22 went clean through two, stopped in third. Let's move up. Moving up to the MP5, shooting a round of nine mil. This is level two, Zach. How many paper towel rolls would it take to stop our nine mil? There we go. Here we go. You got to keep this thing straight, Zach. Maybe get closer. All righty, here we go. See what happened. Whoa, went pretty far, Zach. Wow. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Stopped in number nine here, Zach. See if I can find the, oh, I see it inside here. I don't know if you're going to be able to see that. Probably not. You can see it stopped like basically in the middle. Are you getting a shot? I don't know. Can you see it, Zach? It looks pretty rough. Zach, just get it. You can kind of see it a little bit. Make it clear. I was trying to do that. I was tapping the screen, doing the focus thing. We need to have a talk after this. A talk? Yeah. I don't think this is working out. You're fired. Nine mil went clean through. Nine paper towels stopped in number 10. These things are not holding up as well as maybe I thought they would. Me neither. I think toilet paper is already much better than paper towels. Let's move up to the 10 mil. Next up, we're shooting the 10 mil, Zach. There's our round right there. How will this compare to the MP5? It's a bigger bullet, but it's shot out of a handgun instead of a rifle. Rifle. It's a shorter barrel, Zach. What will the difference be? Here we go. Try to keep this thing straight. 10 mil versus paper towels firing. Let's see how far it went. Okay, so we turned the prior paper towels to the side. So that's what these holes are. But you can see the 10 mil. Wow, that's a big entry right there. So it's still going, still going, still going. Ooh, it stopped. It stopped right here. Let's see how far that is. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. And then stopped number nine. Huh, interesting, Zach. Yeah, very. So the 9 mil beats the 10 mil when it was shot out of the MP5. 10 mil cleaned through eight paper towels. Let's move up. It's ironic because 10 mil is one great- Stop! It's time for the revolver, Zach. We're moving up to the .44 Magnum. Here's our round. This is a round of bare load, meaning it packs a little extra punch. Zach, this is reminding me of the time I took down a grizzly in Alaska on set. A photo shoot, actually, in 1997. Brawny, paper towels. Are you familiar? I'm familiar, yeah. You know the guy with the red flannel? That was actually me. I was their model in the 90s. That was you? You're talking about the guy that's like 6'5", 250 pounds, like the huge muscle guy? Check it out, Zach. Moving up to a round of .50 AE, otherwise known as American Eagle. How many will this go through? I'm expecting a new leader. Let's see. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, Zach. I don't know. It's going to be tough. Zach, moving up to 12 gauge. If anything's going to beat the Desert Eagle, it might be the sneaky slug. There's our slug right there. Okay, let's see what 12 gauge does. Here we go. Wow. Flew it back, Zach. Wow. It just smushed them all. The force of the slug. Insane. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Is it going to beat it? 11, 12, 13, into 14, into 15, Zach. Through 14 and then it stops inside number 15. So technically it ties the Desert Eagle. They both went through 14, but the slug did go halfway through number 15. Whereas the Desert Eagle didn't even go to number 15 at all. So slug is the new leader. Technically. Wow. Beats the Desert Eagle. Obliterates our paper towels. Let's move up. First rifle of the day. The burps. Excuse me. The burps, Zach. Are you hearing this? You see what I have to put up with, Brian? I'm sorry. I said, excuse me. Moving up to the AR shooting round of 2, 2, 3. First rifle of the day. Will it just immediately take out the slug from the top position or will it not? Here we go. 2, 2, 3 versus paper towels. I am firing. I hope that stayed straight, Zach. Let's see. Tiny little entry. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Nope. Didn't make it out number 12, Zach. It's right in the center. So the 2, 2, 3 makes it clean through 11 rolls. Stops in number 12. The 12 gauge beats the AR. Wow. You don't see that very often. You kind of do though on this channel, Zach. 12 gauge still in the lead. Let's move up. Zach, the AR could not get it done. 12 gauge still in the lead. What will the AK-47 do? And then it does veer off right here at number 17. Bullet was not able to stay straight. It was just going too fast. So 17 rolls for the 30-06 before it veered off. We're going to replace all of these. I'm going to get geared up. We're going to move up to the main event. I'm going to shoot the 50 cal. We'll see if it could stay straight and go through all of these. All right, Zach, I'm geared up. We have our fresh rolls down there. Fred is absolutely terrified. He's untouched this entire video.
