Today we shoot a 40 pound railroad track with everything all the way up to a 50 cal to see how tough they really are and if they can stop all the calibers we have... Good luck Fred 🫡 -- All our videos are filmed on our private gun range in Texas where we are taking all of the proper safety precautions. This experiment tests various firearms against a 40-pound solid steel railroad track to determine which, if any, can penetrate the metal. While handguns, shotguns, and high-power rifles fail to pierce the steel, the test concludes with a .50 caliber rifle, which successfully punches a hole through the track and a target placed behind it.
In this video, I'm going to be seeing
if a railroad track could stop a bullet.
I'm going to start small with a .22,
and I'm going to work my way all the way up
through 11 levels of destruction all the way to the mighty .50 cal,
and we will see if it will go through.
What they will do to this thing, we have Fred standing by,
and if at any time any of the bullets makes it through
the railroad track into Fred, Fred loses.
This thing is 40 pounds of solid steel.
it was designed so that railroad trains railroad vehicles trains yeah
that's what you want to call
it it was designed to hold trains as they pass over them
so it is extremely heavy it's also kind
of a fun shape it's not super thick
so we will see what happens if we shoot it in the thin part
i mean it's a lot of steel it's very hard it's very durable
but i feel like it may have a few
weaknesses zach if nothing goes through
the first time maybe we'll just keep shooting this thing
until we get a satisfying hole in it it
is definitely one of the hardest things that
we've shot let's get started okay we're starting out
at level one we have our Ruger Mark IV we
have our round of .22 brian has a slow-mo camera set up today boom
on time let's shoot it here we
go .22 versus a railroad track that was such
a satisfying ding it sounded like i just got a text
or something wow .22 didn't really
do anything bullet just kind of frags out okay .22 hit right
here kind of in the upper portion of it golly
this thing's heavy hit right there you see that
gray mark and i almost see like streaks where the bullet just explodes
and comes down right here
fred's fine barely even left
a mark let's move up all right next up level two we have the Glock 19
shooting a round of 9mm here will
this just bounce off the outside let's see what happens we
have a brand new barrier that just came
in from our friends at total shield they sent us this sack
wow it's super high quality so thank you to total shield
and it's going to protect us from any
ricochets today uh we kind of just have it jerry-rigged here
in between some cinder blocks
but we're gonna build it up into something nice over time
but this thing is super solid and very
clear so that we can start shooting hard materials again we lost
our other shield it got literally
taken away by a huge flood that hit texas like six months ago
so that's kind of why we've been
shooting a bunch of soft stuff
but now that we have this puppy we're gonna get back into uh some
of the harder materials we have some good videos lined up coming up
in the future we're so back
dude what's that we
are so back just shooting here we go nine mil versus a railroad track
firing whoa zach i got hit with something oh bullet nails
the bottom part shoots up and just
kind of curves back out the other way okay nine
mil hit maybe here maybe here i'm not exactly sure
and then you can see that bullet just like explodes comes back up
and then just like shoots
into the sky didn't really do much
though zach there's not even like a tiny little divot in
these things these things are tough just stain in it yeah
a little stain on it yeah it's just like a
little nothing we're gonna have to move up moving up
to the 1911 we have a round of 45 acp what will
level three do maybe a little dent all right here
we go 1911 versus railroad track that was a solid
hit Zach that was a good hit dude we're back
to the ding our bullet nails it right in the
center and just blows into like a million different pieces
and you can see a big divot right there in
in the center the nine mil hit was not great i hit
a little low this one we hit dead on and then
you just see like a ring around where the impact
was and it's just all gray and you see like rays
of the bullet just like shooting out as it explodes
but this thing i'm not even feeling it
indention it's just nothing we're gonna need some big guns
to get through we're gonna need some
huge guns Zach this thing
is really tough let's move up Zach moving up to the revolver we have
a 44 magnum here and we're shooting a round
of bare load today meaning that this one
packs an extra punch Zach this is actually designed
for bears i would know because winter
of 2004 i'm actually on the polar express Zach
heading up through alaska right around december
24th on christmas eve this man big white beard comes up
to me in my sleep tells me i'm getting
on this train so i get on the train i'm
on the polar express and then a bear grizzly
hops onto the train he's running over
the top comes down into the train all right take him
down to 44 magnum i saved christmas that year you
were on the Polar Express, yeah, the Polar Express
in Alaska, yeah, on our way to the North, oh you
were just going through Alaska, yeah, here we go
44 Magnum versus railroad track, firing, oh yeah Zach
that looked like a good hit, another nice
ding, I hit right there in the center, you almost see like
a pancaked piece of the bullet like just
ding out and fly off to the side, all right, 44 Magnum hit right here
and also did basically
nothing which is insane
because the 44 Magnum is super powerful, hit right here just explodes
Fred, like I think he kind of look
at his hoodie, he got, oh I didn't even see that, wow, so you can
see this is like a good little science lesson, you hit right here
the bullet just explodes and all
the fragments go out and got Fred right here
in the sleeve of his Yeezy Life hoodie, which you
can get at yeezy.com, link in description
but his vitals are still okay, it did stop it, that's what
happens when you shoot something really hard, it
just goes out, all right, nothing has even come
close to penetrating a railroad track, here we have
the mighty Desert Eagle to see if he has
anything to say about that, we're shooting around
a .50 AE, here we go, Eagle versus railroad track
whoa, Fred's head almost like came off, Zach, oh man, violent impact
that time from the Desert Eagle and
you can actually see Fred's arm does get hit
and then the power of the Deagle just pushes the
whole thing back all right this is our biggest impact
so far there's actually a piece of the
bullet stuck look at that it's like flaking off of the railroad track
but there's like still
basically no penetration may have torn up his sleeve
a little bit more wow this thing is tough
i mean it makes sense i guess it's like a half inch
or more of like basically hardened steel
let's move up to the rifles all right we're moving up
to the 12 gauge we're shooting it with
an enormous round this is our slug huge piece
of metal going at another piece of metal who is
to win let's shoot it here we go 12 gauge versus
a railroad track all right whoa dude fantastic hit
zach that knocked fred all the way back
with the force oh huge hit from the slug i almost see like
sparks and fire there just from the impact
that was insane fred got knocked back i hope he's okay
i hope so too took a tumble huge mark here we
do have a little penetration like definitely more
than the Desert Eagle definitely more than
Desert Eagle here i mean it's not much it's like
microscopic but i can definitely feel like a little divot in there
and the force just knocks
fred backwards so that is definitely where the slug hit
and it like chipped away some of this
like metal on the other side
but so we don't have any penetration like through the railroad track so
far but the bullets are just kind of flying all over the place
and fred is taking some shrapnel
here let's move up to the AR all right we're moving up
to the AR, we have a round of green tip
5.56, so we have a steel tip round going
up against another big piece of steel, this should
in theory be like our first significant damage
into this thing, let's see what happens here, we
go AR versus railroad track, firing, another good hit, saw like
a poof that time, you can hardly see the
bullets going so fast, it hits the top
and then just flies downward, so I actually hit that one
a little bit high which is kind of interesting
so it hit right here and then you can see that bullet
like fragmented down
and you see there's just like a huge gray line here where the bullets
are just like coming down and then like hitting
the slope here on the railroad track, green tip
5.56 didn't really do much, let's move up, okay I turned it up just
so like give us a little more
surface area up and down for our shots, let's move up, we're moving up
to the AK-47, we have a round
of 7.62 by 39 here, a little bit bigger, is it gonna
do better than the green tip, let's see, here we go
AK-47 versus a railroad track, oh
my gosh, that red just slowly tipped back
from the force, oh we
may have gotten our first legit divot
on that one, it knocks the whole thing backwards into Fred
I'm actually pretty impressed with the force
of like these rounds that are able to knock this 40
of a 50 pound railroad track back into Fred
and knock him over, so it hit right here and hardly
any penetration, there's just like a piece
of the round like that lead is just still sticking out
of the railroad tie but it didn't really do much
the backside is clean the force just knocks Fred
back let's move up again all right next up we
are moving up yet again to the mighty Gold Scar
that was good that was really good shooting
a round of .308 could this give us i just want a
good solid divot Zach i want a satisfying divot
in the railroad track it's like an anvil so far
what in the world i think this might do it dude i feel like
a pipsqueak you are kind of a pipsqueak
here we go Gold Scar versus railroad track all right whoa it
was smoking yeah it's smoking and
i hear it raining on the roof right here huge impact
that time you just see like a cloud of
dust just come straight back super fast right
on impact i can smell that one man you can just tell
the .308 was just a step up yep we finally got
a satisfying divot here i mean it didn't do a lot
but that is not nothing that is a huge chunk it's just like
a silver chunk on this charcoal like
outer metal nothing through the other side there's like maybe
a little chunk of like that like rust
coming off the other side but did not go through
but the force did also knock Fred back so
impressive that the force knocked him back Gold Scar
is in the lead right now in terms of like
the most penetration let's see how it compares to the next rifle
so i'm gonna roll just let's go
just say rolling so that i know
that you're rolling i'm rolling just let me know i'm filming
you right now okay moving up to the .30-06
are you under the impression that that looks
cool yeah anything's cool if you make it slow enough here's
our round right here biggest so
far this one's gonna be fun we're
in dangerous territory here this could make it all the way
through the railroad track fred's getting nervous all right
so like a few videos ago we asked you
you guys to go to Nerf's instagram
and comment that they should make a Yee Life nerf gun and like
thousands of you went in support of Yee Life demanding
in a nice way that they make a Yee
Life nerf gun and it really had me thinking zach all
these people are so supportive of the channel
we should put their names in the credits of every single video
so if you want to have your name
in the credits of a Yee Life video you can join our Freedom Club
which is our shirt of the month
club where we send you a shirt every month
with free shipping plus you get early access to all
our Yee-Yee launches and you get your name
in the credits of Yee-Yee Life video this is november
shirt right here and you can go to the link
in description if you use code Freedom Club
then you will get half off you just get
this for like 14 bucks with free shipping
so link in description for that we appreciate you
guys here we go 30-06 versus a railroad track
this should be interesting fiery oh wow zach i saw like
a huge copper mark on it
our bullet slams into the center there it almost looks like
a bronze mark there and then you can
see the bullet actually like fragments down
into the cinder block just sends chunks everywhere
okay huge mark right here in the center
of it man it almost looks like i don't even know like
smoke or something here on the side i think
that that beats the 308 in terms of penetration yeah
definitely think so that's pretty big big crater there
and it's like copper super cool color the
force of it knocks fred back
but nothing has come let's see what the backside looks like zach no
nothing not even a crack on the backside
so as kind of i expected it is going to be up to the
50 cal to try to defeat our railroad track fred has
been knocked around a little bit today but
he is still okay nothing has made it through
the railroad track i'm gonna get geared up and we'll
shoot the 50 cal okay so we can't fit the 50 cal
because the barrel is too big to fit through the
slit on that shield so we moved back
our railroad track back here's like a hundred yards uh down
range just to be safe and we have it all set up
we have fred set up would he survive i mean look
at the thickness of this sack man this is gonna
be interesting it's like hardened it's like hardened
steel maybe a half inch i'm gonna guess
that it's gonna go through you think so yeah i don't think
it is i don't think it's gonna do it it's gonna
be close let's see zach eagle one is doing a pass
right before we shoot the 50 making sure
that the skies are clear we should be good to go now
you talk to him already he's just doing
his final passes i haven't gotten official clearance yet
he's just like doing this, Zach, I gotta get
clearance real quick. Go ahead Eagle One, this
is Ghost Star requesting clearance
to engage target. Roger that, green light to go Ghost Star
you are not connected to anything, we're good now
Zach, I got clearance. All right, I am dead still on
this puppy. There we go. Hang on, Fred, got him. You
got it, got a good hit on it. Yeah, I think we did
let's go see what happened. Oh, a huge flash there
from the .50 cal and smoke just like billowing up
it's kind of hard to see actually where
the bullet hits. It looks like it may have hit the side
of the railroad track. Let's go see the track
is off of the cinder block. Zach, I think we had a
clean hit. Look, nothing out the back side. Let's see what
the front looks like. Oh, you hit the side. Wow
that sucks. We haven't shot the .50 at this distance in like six months
and so that scope unfortunately
is off. I hit right here, Zach, on the edge. Check
that out. Took a huge chunk out of the edge. I'm
I'm gonna set it all up.
I'm gonna hit it one more time.
See if we can hit dead center.
See what happens when you hit the center of this thing.
Hang on, Fred.
All right.
Fred!
Oh, the whole camera just flashes white.
The fire just takes up the entire screen.
Sparks and smoke everywhere.
And the railroad track gets pushed back into Fred.
All right, let's go.
I'm going light mode, Zach.
Check it out.
Whoa, dropping weight.
Why are we running?
What's that?
Why are we running?
Just in case Fred needs help.
Oh, okay.
I'm a little worried about him.
Whoa!
Zach, clean entry and exit.
I'm seeing a hole straight through this thing.
Whoa, it did make it through after all.
Wow, look at how gnarly this is.
So it entered right here.
I'm just seeing all this black soot from the flash
from when that hit, went clean through the other side.
Big exit here.
Oh man, Zach, I'm worried about him.
It sliced through that track like butter.
And so the entry on Fred is actually not that big.
Here's the entry through Fred, right here through his chest.
And it did come through right here, out Fred's back.
The 50 Cal defeats the railroad track.
Wow.
Nothing else could do it.
You didn't believe in it.
I thought this thing was going to be-
You didn't believe in it.
I was wrong. Forgive me.
Wow. This is no joke, Zach.
Look at the thickness of that steel.
Nothing else even really put a dent in it.
And the 50 Cal just slices through like butter.
50 Cal's the winner.
50 Cal, the winner of today's video,
the railroad track challenge.
Thank you guys for watching.
We'll see you in the next episode of Yee Yee Life.
That probably broke his ribs.
