The Habs just got some really great news...

episode yeah no secret it's Carey Price who was talking you maybe saw but I wanted to dive a little deeper into the quotes and you know he's kind of reinforcing what we've been saying for a while which is like yeah that's right me and Carey Price agree on something right the channel and Carey you know Carey reach out but here's the thing let's just let's get into Dobesh first I am very interested in the Fowler stuff but I love the praise that he had for both of them Jesse I really love Dobesh's compete level he's got that gir in his game he he's got that swagger I really enjoy watching that and you know swagger is one of the best words I think to describe Dobesh because not only are the numbers obviously incredible but the dude just like he doesn't care who tries to get under his skin and honestly to get this kind of praise from a guy like Carey Price on that specific aspect of his game that Carey didn't often show but did on occasion well it's a pretty good sign yeah getting this praise from Carey Price who knows a little something about winning hockey in the NHL and not just goalies but also as the team as a whole and not just the praise to the goalie but saying as the team as a whole that they're starting to get into the contender status and that's how he feels about it going into next season like that's absolutely nuts because again this guy has just so much experience is really is gonna be a member of the Hall of Fame here so just his praise just means so much for the Montreal Canadiens here and the reason that he's really so big on the Habs in that contender status is because of the dynamics between the two goalies and I actually love that in a lot of ways that he's highlighting with our young goalie core that we have right now of Jakob Dobesch where it's got a little bit more that fire a little bit more that compete I'm in his game which is just very apparent and then we got Fowler on the other hand who is a little bit more has a little bit more that calmness which is reminiscence of the game that Carey Price I used to play I just love that balance that we're having from both these players but make no mistake about it both these players have that compete in them at the end the day and this is gonna be a heck of a competition who really comes away with that number one spot for the Montreal Canadiens at the same time he knows that it takes really a full team effort to really win the Stanley Cup but Carey Price really feels that we have the foundation that we need with our goaltenders and that they're a very big part of this yeah and look he was the foundation of the team for so long and he knows what it takes to kind of get that team to the next level as a goaltender so like it really like I take this to heart and then these guys should do and to say like imagine you're Jacob Fowler and you hear people say oh it reminds me of Price reminds me of Price and we were saying it so much it's crazy for Price to say yeah he reminds me of myself like crazy a little more reserved quiet game but it's their mentality that has them where they're at and honestly the mentality for Montreal is something that we've talked at length about whether it's the goalies or the forwards or the defenseman or the recent draft picks so many of these guys are bought into the vision and Carey sees that so it's cool to see this kind of praise from an absolute legend Hall of Famer yeah I can't wait to see what happens to the goalies this year there's still talk about Montembeau which I find a little nuts but the closer we get to the season anyway maybe that's a topic for another day but let's uh let's stick with some of the young guys here now we've been talking a lot about Fowler want to talk briefly about the Alexander Zhuravsky and we talked a little bit recently about how his team Ufa signed Vadim Shipachev who is the all-time leading point getter in the KHL so this alone was pretty cool shows that Ufa was going for it I don't know why his lips look so blue like he looks like he's freezing cold in that picture but he's 39 years old I had to just take since 2017-18 Jesse he's been in the KHL since 05-06 he's been in the KHL since Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby's rookie year this guy is a legend over there but this is not where it ends we've already talked about this this is fantastic news according to Andrew Zadarnowski Alex Zhuravsky is playing on a line with Vadim Shipachev the KHL's all-time points leader as good an on-ice mentor as anyone in the league now I don't know you know what like I can't claim to know what level of respect he kind of command whether it's like a Crosby-esque an Ovechkin-esque I don't know but something like that you have to imagine in the KHL and you're sticking our kind of golden boy in Russia with him like to me this is just fantastic and it definitely shows that Ufa is very committed to not only have Zhuravsky develop but to put him in the best situation possible yeah and that's really big again for because we know that Ivan Demidov did not have the best experience in the KHL developing where he wasn't not necessarily getting all the ice time in the world so just seeing a very key prospect for us in Alexander Zhuravsky I'm not only getting the ice time but being put in a great position to play with other star players it's gonna be really important for him for really unlocking his full potential which we know is super important anything that we can help in his development before he comes to Montreal is just gonna be so key and really finding that spacing on the ice to work with other skilled players other players are gonna want to have the puck as well which is when he comes to Montreal he's gonna have some of those guys around so really knowing how how to best position himself in those situations is gonna be very important I saw some recent talk from a prospect from the New Jersey Devils Shcherbakov in relation to Alexander Zhuravsky which really has me excited as well Josh he was just mentioning he was playing with with him with Ufa last year one of the two youngest players in the KHL on that team that year and what he was saying about really about Zhuravsky is this is ability to hold on to the puck in fact they say like they marvel at it like you just he controls the puck and it kind of sticks to him just wherever he goes like his stick handling ability and his ability just to play that puck possession game and just keep control but he mentions like even when he loses the puck in practice they're almost like they're almost gonna give it up because they know that like he's just gonna get the puck back again it's over they say it's almost worth when he loses it because he's just gonna get the puck back again and get back to just doing whatever he wants so by all accounts and other players playing with him at the KHL level who have aspiration to come in the NHL they're all saying that Zhuravsky has the makings of a truly dominant player I can't wait to see it because like this is the stuff that you you can't teach once they're older like you you have to have those fundamentals from the time you're young I imagine to have that kind of puck handling ability where other pros are looking at you like how do you do that like these guys that are older so maybe this is not hey we're putting Zhuravsky in a great position maybe this is we're putting Shipachev in a great position to be able to play alongside Alexander Zhuravsky here as he's nearing the end of his KHL career by the way the consistency on this guy is absolutely remarkable like just one of these insane careers but very exciting little note here hey he has some NHL experience too of course it was Vegas but yeah they keep an eye on this because they want Zhuravsky to do well there's a lot of people marveling at what he's doing and he will be ahead by the end of the year which is just it feels like it's been we've been waiting way too long to say that so absolutely love that final thing for today sticking on the prospect front of course we're continuing with Mark Dumont's countdown link down below check out the whole article we're just gonna show you a few things cuz you really should check out the original of course you can't just get it from here please check out the link down below number 9 top 10 is Florian Jack I he was very impressive mostly played on the fourth line throughout the regular season with additional time spent on the both the PP and PK but there's specific aspects of this Jesse that I that I love that I wanted to take out of this and it's something I completely agree with it's the how impressive it was considering his role he finished third in goal scoring tied with Sean Farrell he was a little lower in total points but third in goal scoring was 17 tied with Sean Farrell behind only Joshua Watt I think it was a Belzula Dauphin I think was one of them who was ahead of him but still and Farrell played more games anyway you cut it having a player among the top three goal scorers who is being used in the bottom six is a positive result and I could not agree more this is just it's it's like the prototype of a bottom six player he can still get you points he can get you goals his finishing is actually pretty good you need him on the power play he can do that they played him at center for certain spurts this year cuz you know he could win some faceoffs reliable defensively very physical as you saw in the intro you know what I think I might I might have this again let's just let's just watch this huge hit he laid on you kem chuck just uh this past year bang whoa I mean this is what I'm talking about right the prototypical bottom six guy doing bottom six in the AHL he already has NHL experience Jesse he's gonna make this decision to camp so so tough I know we've said it before but the more we look at it the more it looks like he might just bowl people over until there's literally no one left in his way and that's why we need this player at on our team at the end of the day why Florian Jack I is gonna be making a spot on the Montreal Canadiens before we really know it is as you had mentioned Josh this guy is a player that just doesn't need very many opportunities to score it's just gonna be the fact that he's just so good in so many different situations the fact that he can kill penalties that he can play in your bottom six but then he can also produce that's kind of that that missing link right we know in the boxing need to bring that physicality we need to take advantage of the opportunities that you have in front of them Florian Jack I just fits that perfect prototype of all those different factors so well and he's really just gonna highlight to the rest of management why we need at least one Jack I in our lineup here this upcoming season oh man I hope it's both like I really do you know it just it has to be it's like a storybook anyway but you're so right and I wanted to highlight this last one too and it's just it puts his his talent in a very nicely phrased way he won't win an Art Ross or the Maurice Richard trophy but don't be surprised if he ends up spending more time in the NHL than many players who were drafted well ahead of him in 2023 it was he was considered somewhat of a reach at the time and you know just like a few Habs picks in recent years but he's one of the ones that immediately proved the doubters wrong of course going from 13 goals to 34 we're like oh wait a minute he actually has finishing ability wait a minute 24 goals in his rookie AHL season wait a minute still third on the rocket in goal scoring that in that last year I mean I know there's gonna be a lot of turmoil with this Habs roster but honestly in terms of guys that like I don't know how much trade value he would have around the league which to me Jesse just signifies like especially if we have to get rid of some guys in this roster he's just one of those guys that I don't think I don't feel will be part of any big trade and also one of these guys that will just kind of make his himself known his own presence known and could very well sneak into this roster especially if we end up having to ship out one or two guys who are currently there it's coming you don't want to take for granted the fact that Florian Jaco actually broke the rookie record for more school scored in a rookie season again while playing in the bottom six it's that combination of being able to score and then provide that physicality which is exactly what the Montreal Canadiens need he's actually fluctuating between a half a point per game pace and a 0.45 we actually pro rages over those two seasons very solid production just given the type of situation he's put in considering how much time he's doing on the penalty kill and also taking the fact that he's coming up to Montreal sometimes then coming back and then obviously that's kind of getting him out of his rhythm a little bit so so much to like about this player and again this is just a prototype of if you're a player bottom six player looking to make the NHL bashing yourself off a Florian Jaco I love how they make the argument that sometimes it's a little bit better to not have all the talent in the world but be a little bit more physical that's what's gonna get you in the NHL versus the situation with Joshua Waugh we saw where he had more talent like arguably objectively than a Florian Jaco but because he wasn't willing to play that physical type of style obviously he's on the outside looking in so I think Florian has completely identified what he needs to do and he's gonna be very valuable to the Montreal Canadiens as a result one of those guys again talk about mentality attitude like there's not much I would I would change about this player one of the most exciting names to watch coming into camp there are a lot of them angstrom Rheinbacher Beck and now a guy like Florian Jaco and many more that like you know even this year in college like so much fun stuff coming leave a thought on him down below Shirovsky all the stuff it just feels like nothing but good is happening right like yeah I know we haven't had that big trade but I can't wait to see what is next around the corner thank you for tuning in every single day I'm Josh Goss my coach Jesse Paglia we'll catch you in the next one
