The Tim Weisberg Show.
And welcome back in our number two of the program
here on Fun Friday, brought to you by Dee's Hot Dogs,
where by the way, Dee's Hot Dogs is closed through this weekend.
Not only they've been closed all week and they're going to be closed for this weekend,
but for the best reason ever, you might have seen our share of their post about it
on our WBSM Facebook page, but Bob and Dee have welcomed their first grandchild.
So they took this week off to spend time with the family and they'll be back next week.
But congratulations to them on the new little weenie.
Those are Dee's words, not mine.
And make sure when you stop by Dee's Hot Dogs next week,
that you congratulate Bob and Dee on the new addition to their family.
And they're such nice people.
They're wonderful people.
And I know that this child is going to be the most loved.
I just hope that this child likes hot dogs
because there's a lot of hot dogs in your future, kid.
508-996-0500.
So our Fun Friday question brought to you by Dee's Hot Dogs today
is kind of inspired by my stay at Weathervane Cottages yesterday.
And again, you can still take advantage of that half price deal at SeizeTheDeal.com
if you'd like to stay there.
But I stayed in the cottage.
But then after the show was over, Eric took me over and showed me the tents.
And the tents are really cool.
And I said, you know what?
The next time I come back, I'm going to stay in the tent.
Because I didn't realize how easy it would be to do my show in the tent
if I wanted to do the show there.
But I kind of want to just go and stay and relax.
But the tents are really cool.
And they're heavy duty tents.
And they have air conditioning.
So if you are a person that wants to sleep in a tent,
these are the tents for you.
Because you still get a bed, still get air conditioning.
But you still get that tent experience.
And I keep saying I'm going to go camping.
But I just haven't had a weekend where I can get away and actually do it.
But my question today, because I was talking with people yesterday,
and everybody seems to have a different way they like to stay somewhere,
either for fun or when they have to stay somewhere,
I figured let's ask the folks a question.
Where would you rather spend a night?
A tent?
A cabin?
And I guess I would include the cottages.
A hotel or a motel.
And I differentiated between the two,
because some people prefer a motel to a hotel.
They don't like having to go through a lobby
and taking an elevator and all that stuff.
And being as on top of each other as you are.
Some people prefer a motel or a motor inn
where you can just pull up and open the door and walk into your room.
So I asked that question.
And Lori says, my bed.
I totally get that.
Henry says, a cabin.
So we got a couple of votes already on our WBSM Facebook page.
You can sound off there.
You can also call in at 508-996-0500.
You can also send app chat messages or open line voicemails on the WBSM app.
I think part of the appeal of camping is
you're only doing it for a short amount of time.
So it's cool.
It's different.
When you have to do it for a prolonged period,
it loses its luster pretty quickly.
Take it from me.
I know.
I lived in a campground on multiple occasions.
And it's not everything it's cracked up to be.
You think, oh, this is going to be fun.
The first summer we did it.
And we said, all right, this is going to be fun.
We all loved camping.
This is going to be great.
We had just gotten a camper.
So some of the family slept in the camper.
Some of us slept in the tent.
I prefer sleeping in a tent.
And the first week or two, it was really cool.
Maybe even week three, it was really cool.
But then the more you get deeper into the summer, you're like, all right,
this is kind of getting old.
The only thing that saved me in terms of because I was a 14-year-old kid,
13, 14-year-old kid.
So I wasn't driving.
I wasn't working.
So I just spent all day at the campground.
But what saved me was every week, you'd get a new batch of friends
because new kids would come and stay.
So that kept things interesting.
When I was older and I was working, it didn't really bother me as much
because I had a girlfriend.
So I was going out every night.
I was just coming home, sleeping, showering, getting back out, going to work,
and going on dates.
So it didn't really affect me as much.
But that first year, I did learn like, OK, eventually, there's too much sleeping
on the ground.
But I see all the stuff that people have for camping now.
And I didn't have any of that.
And I never even would have thought to have any of that.
But as I've been looking at the equipment at Walmart and trying to plot out, well,
what do I need?
And where am I going to go?
And all that.
I see now they have air mattresses.
They have little cots.
They have pillows and a bag.
I mean, they've got little heating pads you can put under your sleeping bag.
All these different things.
I literally would just, we would take a pillow from home, and we would throw our
sleeping bag on the floor of the tent.
And you just got to hope that there were no rocks under where you would, when you
first get to the campsite, you'd clear the area, make sure there's no rocks or
sticks, as best as you could tell.
And then you put the tent up.
And then you go in and you find your spot.
You lay your sleeping bag down.
You hope that you got all the rocks and sticks or else you're going to feel it.
That was camping to me.
And I've even done the sleeping out under the stars thing.
My cousin used to go to this camp up in Maine.
I've told this story before.
It was a work camp for kids that were not good kids.
It was kind of like a punishment type thing.
At least that's what most of the kids were there for.
The idea was that it was supposed to strengthen boys into young men and teach
them skills and all that.
But it was usually kids that had been troublemakers and, here, go do something
with your summer productive.
But he went because he liked it.
He liked going and building all this stuff.
He was into all of that stuff.
And once you're on the island, they don't care what you do.
They don't care where you sleep.
They don't care as long as you show up for the required morning breakfast
meetings, and as long as you do the work that you're assigned, the rest of the
time, you do whatever you want.
You can't get anywhere.
You're on an island a mile off the main coast.
So he was like, come on, let's go sleep on the cliffs over by the ocean.
I was like, all right, that sounds like fun.
So we took our sleeping bags, and we threw them on the ground, and we slept out on
the cliffs over near the ocean.
And then woke up with a seal in my face.
Literally, there was a seal yelling at us.
We had to get up and move real fast because he was pretty mad.
But that's the only time I ever did the sleep out under the stars thing, except
for sometimes just falling asleep in the backyard and waking up at 4 in the morning.
I do like camping, but I have not done it in almost 30 years.
So we'll see.
We'll see if I like it when I get a chance to do it.
508-996-0500.
Good morning.
You're on WBSN.
Hi, Tim.
How you doing?
Where's the cliff that you slept on?
It was an island in Maine.
So it was about a mile off the main coast.
Trying to think of what the town was.
We were not that far from the Canadian border.
That's how far up we were.
Oh, that sounds like fun.
It was.
I mean, they had all these different places you could sleep.
So they had some cabins.
They had some tents and things like that.
So when you went to visit, you could say, OK, well, let's sleep here.
The night we slept in the cabin, one of the cabins, there was a whole bunch of people
that all slept in that cabin.
And we had a fire the night before, had a good time.
And then when we went to sleep, they did this thing called Camp Devil, where whoever pulled
the best prank won the prize.
And so we were asleep in the cabin.
And in the middle of the night, the cabin door flies open.
And there's a guy in a mask with a chainsaw coming to attack us.
And my uncle was with us.
And he just gets up out of his sleeping bag, grabs the guy by his face and says, get out
of here and throws him out the door.
And I said to him, Uncle Tom, that guy had a chainsaw.
Weren't you afraid?
And he looks at me, he goes, Tim, if anybody ever comes at you with a chainsaw, the first
thing you do is you look at it and you see if there's a blade on it.
How old were you?
I was probably like 15, 16 at the time.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, I think it was before I drove.
So, yeah, I was probably like 15.
You didn't encounter any bears?
No, I don't think there were any on that island.
Believe it or not, there was not a lot of wildlife on that island.
I mean, you have your small stuff, your regular woodland creatures.
But you didn't have to worry about moose or anything like that.
What was the name of the island?
I wish I could remember it.
I know the foundation was called the Berwick Boys Foundation.
But it was not Berwick Island.
This island had a different name.
How much did it cost to go?
I don't know.
So what it was, was it was this camp that he would attend.
And then on weekends, they allowed family to come and visit.
So we would, my uncle and I would go.
And one time we went up because he had to go pick up a generator that he was going to fix for the
camp.
So we went up there to get that.
And then another time they were doing their awards weekend.
So we got to go up for that.
So it was, you know, it was always we were like just guests.
So we weren't actually campers.
Oh, so I wanted to ask you something because I'm so into Google, right?
And I don't know a lot about the phone.
And I have an Android.
And I just hear on the news twice on the news that comes on your channel that they're getting
rid of Google.
And it's going to be all Gemini.
Yeah, that's they're probably getting rid of the what do you call it?
Trying to think of what the Google voice assistant is.
What's it called?
I don't know, because I just talked to Google and I bring up everything.
I look through Google every day.
So what am I?
So what's going to be on my phone now?
Gemini's there already, but I don't use it.
Yeah, it'll just they'll just be incorporating it into that.
So it'll all just be under that one thing.
Yeah, but Gemini's AI, isn't it?
Yeah, but so is Google assistant.
So I can do the same thing with Gemini that I did with Google?
Yep, same thing.
The only difference is the the the AI, the Gemini has a little bit more personality.
So like you can actually have it.
You know, it's like you're having a conversation with a person.
It's a little weird, but it's a lot more helpful.
Oh, I don't like AI at all.
Yeah, but you've been using it all along.
It's just now it's incorporating.
It's basically taking the multiple different platforms that it has and merging it into one.
Did you see Spider-Man here?
Not yet.
Are you going?
Maybe this weekend because it's going to be so hot.
I'll probably go to the movies and see a couple movies.
I got a whole collection of Spider-Man things.
I haven't I've been collecting them for a while.
That's a good thing to collect.
Yeah, I used to have I used to have a whole room in my house that was all toys
that I collected in one of them.
One of the shelves was all Spider-Man stuff.
That's some of the stuff that got stolen.
No, this is stuff that when my son was born,
we had to turn that room into his into his bedroom.
So I ended up selling most of my toys.
Did you get good money for him?
No, I think we did it at a yard sale.
Oh, I mean, a lot of these ones that I collected weren't like valuable stuff.
It was just like, you know, the popular stuff that had come out at the time.
So what's the most valuable on that?
Just comic books?
Well, all depends.
I mean, you know, you can you can get some rare action figures that are worth a lot of money.
Like if you get if you have one of the original like Boba Fett,
Star Wars figures that you had to send away for, you know, those are those are pretty pricey.
And I guess there were some test run ones that are even harder to find
that, you know, they could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Oh, wow.
Yep.
Hey, Jim.
Anyway, what's going on this weekend?
Nothing.
I don't have any I don't have any plans.
I'm going to try to avoid the heat and humidity as best I can.
But other than that, I'm just going to relax.
I want to try to go see Chris's brother tonight downtown.
Hopefully it's not too warm and muggy out there this evening.
No, it won't be.
I bring my own little fan.
I'm just upset because I had to get these shots on that dog that that bit me the other day.
I assume they're pretty painful.
Yeah, but nothing as painful as what I went through.
I told you already when my intestine burst.
I'm telling you.
Nobody nobody knows what that's like.
No, I couldn't even imagine.
No, you can't imagine.
But anyway, no, it it hurts.
It burns when they put they had to put these immunoglobulins in me around the site.
And then they that burns and then they had to give me stop the rabies series.
But that's what I'm telling you about invested.
These are the kind of people you have here.
About it.
But I'm telling you, the guy was walking three dogs without a leash on any one of the dogs.
There's a leash law.
I'm going to my told her to put cardboard out and the dog comes over to me.
I turn around to go inside my house because I had my nightgown on.
I just figured it would be but a thing, but a bang.
And all of a sudden the dog comes over to me and starts attacking me.
And he did nothing about it.
You understand?
And unfortunately, every community has leash laws around here.
And I see way too many people that don't follow it.
And they don't realize that that's you're actually hurting the dog by not following
the law because something like this happens.
You end up losing the dog.
Yeah, but I don't know the guy.
And he said he never came down this street before.
But he's saying his dog's all right.
While the dog's attacking me, he doesn't take the dog off me.
And then I say, this all happened so quick.
You know what I mean?
And I say, take your dog.
It's the dog was coming towards me.
I could tell with a you could tell when they're in that mold.
You know, it wasn't a friendly dog.
It wasn't coming to say hi.
The tail wasn't wagging.
So anyway, oh, my dog's fine.
And then they all say that.
And then and they'll argue with you.
So then then, of course, the dog's on me, scratching me, biting me.
And then he doesn't he doesn't call the dog or reprimand the dog.
And the other two are coming on.
I was sick all day.
I couldn't even go to my chiropractor.
I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
You know, and you say things that I say I'm negative.
No, I got proof of all the stuff that happens to me.
And what I say, it comes right on.
Somebody else says it or it happens like at Custom Square.
It was all on the other day on the radio.
So what I say is the truth.
I'm not I don't be outside.
I say it like it is.
It's just that I don't think you've been around here that long enough to
experience these things.
Or maybe you're in there all the time.
So you don't get to experience any of it.
You know what I mean?
OK, I'm serious.
All right.
Well, I hope everything works out OK.
Yeah, so do I.
I can't move one of my legs today because where they put that in
the muscles, it affects the muscle.
Like Stephen, Stephen, it up.
Yeah.
Hopefully that'll go away because that's probably just a reaction to the shot.
Right.
Yeah.
But I don't need none of this, Tim.
Please.
You know what I'm saying?
Really?
If people, you know, even those scooters, I see them when I take my ride.
I mean, my girlfriend gave me a ride the other day and two of them almost came into her car.
They just didn't care.
They don't look at.
They don't care.
They don't look at the they don't stop at the stop sign.
They just keep going.
They do what they want to do.
They.
And you know what bothers me is I don't see the police doing anything about none of this stuff.
I called animal control and he didn't call me back.
In fact, I'm waiting.
I'm going to call up again because they got to get.
In other words, I'm worried about this dog bite and a little kid doing.
This dog wasn't wasn't had rabies shots.
Didn't have the thing on its neck.
No collar.
You know, three dogs.
It's expensive enough for one dog.
You know what I mean?
People want to have animals.
They don't take care of them.
It goes on and on and on.
At least I'm responsible.
I mean, at least you can be as responsible people, you know, just be responsible for
what you do.
That's all I ask, you know?
Absolutely.
I agree.
It's sickening already.
All right.
Have a good weekend.
I say you try to have a good weekend and hopefully you can get down there and enjoy the show
tonight.
Yeah.
Bye, Tim.
Take it easy.

Dr. Fauci held in contempt of Congress.
A missing person in New Jersey found dead.
And how much do you need to afford a home in 2026?
From the Cottage Street Motors WBSM Newsroom, this is WBSM News.
A Senate committee has voted to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.
Senate Homeland Security Senator Rand Paul argued Fauci should have answered
their questions because of the full pardon former President Biden granted him.
Dr. Fauci faced no risk of federal prosecution.
All he had to do is tell the truth.
More than 100 times, though, he refused.
The vote by the committee comes after the former White House health advisor invoked
the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times.
In a hearing last week about the COVID pandemic, Fauci refused to answer questions, saying
he thinks committee chair and Republican Senator Rand Paul wants to see him behind bars.
Senator Paul accusing Fauci of covering up COVID's origins and the unnecessarily closing of schools.
A report says at least 12 states, including New Jersey, Michigan, Minnesota and Georgia,

U.S. officials think the cyber attacks could be linked to Iran.

Right now, they're focusing on disruption, which is reduction of
water pressure, but they haven't moved to actually poisoning water.
Homeland Security officials in New Jersey are confirming that two municipal water
systems in the state were attacked and did go on manual controls, but they haven't said where.

Americans need to earn around $110,000 to comfortably afford
a typical home for sale in the U.S.
That's according to a new Redfin report that looked at the annual income a household would
need to purchase a medium price home in June 2026.
The necessary $110,000 income is just 0.5% lower than last year's record high amount,
while Redfin estimates the median U.S.
household earned nearly $88,000 in June, up 4% from a year ago.

There is another suspected case of rabbit fever in Suffolk County,
New York, the fourth one reported this year.
Health officials have not said how the person was infected, but
say the three prior infections are likely linked to ticks.
Rabbit fever can be spread through contact with infected animals,
bites from infected ticks, or through undercooked rabbit meat.
Cases are rare, but there are about 200 cases a year nationwide.
Weekly jobless claims coming in a little lower than expectations.
The Labor Department says it received 199,000 first-time requests

Spider-Man Brand New Day is expected to surpass Toy Story 5
as the highest grossing film in the U.S. this year.
It's already the biggest film of the year worldwide where it's made over a billion dollars.

Researchers at the University of California in San Diego have developed a new
wearable device that can tell you your blood alcohol level.
The researchers were trying to create a ring to track metabolic health.
What they came up with is a prototype ring that can actually detect blood sugar and alcohol levels.
They say tiny sensors inside the ring read chemical markers in the body
and send that data to a phone app.
Along with alcohol, it can track glucose, ketones, vitamin C, uric acid, and lactate,
but results are about 15 to 30 minutes longer than a direct blood test.

Hi, how's it going? Good, how are you doing? Yeah, I heard our friend, and I don't know what
to call her anymore. So I don't want to say Jane Doe, but she's going to have to let me know what
to call her. It was nice to hear her. And I was listening about what happened to her with the dog.
Now, I'm going to tell you something that happened to me. It's like 30 years ago, I was so young.
But anyway, a group of us, like a couple of guys, a couple of girls, we would go over to this one
guy's house that we knew him very well. And he had a big yacht, a big deck. We would go over
his house, and we would cook in the kitchen. Every couple of weeks, we'd all go over there.
And he didn't mind it. He always went shopping, bought the stuff, and we'd go in there and just
cook up a song. And he had a German shepherd. Now, that was my first experience ever with a
German shepherd. We went there, and the dog got to know us all, and he loved us all.
We could touch him. And that's where I began my habit of belly rubbing and head rubbing,
and that's what I do to all the animals now. So anyway, everything is going good.
Every time we went there, it was every couple of weeks. It wasn't every day, but the dog knew us
all. Never bit us, nothing like that. And then one day, there's always that one day that will
blow you away. We were all playing cards. He had this big table, pool table. He had a pool room
somewhere in there, and we were there. We were playing cards. And the problem started when he
heard the word bye. I don't know what it was. I had never said bye before while I was there.
But this day, when we were walking out, I said, okay, bye. And that dog jumped out from under
the table and got me right on my right forearm. I have the scars here to prove it. He bit me three
different times, and he wouldn't let me go. And the guy jumped up and tried to stop him. He was
banging him over the head. I said, don't hit him. He's over your dog. But I was in so, so much pain.
And then when it was over, he said, don't worry. My dog's had all the shots. He doesn't have rabies,
blah, blah, blah, blah. But they took me to the hospital anyway. He took all his dog's papers
with him and all that. And the doctor said, well, he doesn't have rabies. He's very healthy. I can
see the report here. He said, do you want shots? Cuz I don't see giving him. Back then, I guess
that's the way it went. So I got no shots, and I didn't get sick. But this made me think.
I said, every time the dog ever saw us, including me, we were always at that guy's house.
So that day, I said, all we was different was, I said, bye. Apparently, dog don't like the word
bye. He says, well, let's try it out. Let's not even do it at my house. Let's go meet somewhere
else. For the time, I lived in the north end. I said, go over to Brooks. That's not there no more.
Sawyer Street and the Ave used to be Brooks. We went there. We were all in the corner,
all the same people. And he came in a car, some other guy driving a car.
And he was in the front seat passenger side. The dog was in the back with the window rolled down.
I went to walk up to the window, and he gave me a look, and making noises. And I said, wow.
I said, he only wants to be friendly when we're at your house. He doesn't know us anywhere else.
It goes to show that an animal, no matter how well they know you,
any circumstance can change them in a second. But anyway, I lived, and the dog was okay,
because I had to walk up to the car real slow. And the guy got out of the car.
He says, it's Mary. You know Mary. And then I went close. He smelled me. You're
going to let them smell you. He was ready to attack. Imagine, just because we weren't at his
home. Well, hopefully, you were able to go back to his house, though, and not have a bad experience.
Well, actually, he moved away after that. He was a psychologist.
Very well, that guy, a college guy, still in college, even as he was getting older.
He was way older than us. But he was a lonely guy, so he pursued the people there, you know?
But he's gone now, long gone. So is the dog. But I still love that dog. I miss him. So your dog
never did anything bad to you, huh? What was that dog's name? Ruby, you said?
Ruby, yeah. No, Ruby didn't really do anything bad.
When she died, from old age?
Yeah. She was like 14, 15. But I think she might have been a little older than
they told us when we adopted her, too. So that's all right.
What was the Friday question today?
If you'd rather stay in a tent, a hotel, a cabin, or a motel.
I'd rather stay in a camping van.
Yeah. Somebody told me I should have put RV into the mix, so we can add that in as well.
Oh, yeah. I would have been all up in that. I think you know that.
All right.
All right. So have a good weekend.
You too.
Bye-bye.
All right. We got to get a break in here. 508-996-0500. We'll be right back.
