Brazilian Loans Case (France v Brazil) (Application of municipal law in international courts)

In this international law case, the court was required to apply the domestic laws of Brazil in order to resolve a dispute between Brazil and French investors. The court held that it could do so, but that it must do so by reference to the entire jurisprudence of the nation whose laws were being interpreted.
