Things Have Taken a MAJOR Twist...
Aug 6, 2026
Things have just taken a major twist for the Los Angeles Dodgers as after their massive
trade deadline acquisition, Ben Moravet is now projected to start tonight with Tarek
Skubal in their first game after the deadline.
We're going to be breaking down the moves, not just what they mean, but how they're all
right now affecting this team as more reports continue to come out, including some pretty
big changes on the catching side of things with one name now being out as well as Will
Smith.
We have a lot to break down here today, but before we do get into it, if you haven't already,
be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
We still have so much coming out after this deadline.
A lot of stuff that's falling out through this.
Tarek Skubal has spoken out and so has the rest of the baseball world.
We're going to be covering it all here on the channel over these next couple of days.
You will not want to miss it, but we need to get right into this now because there is
a lot to discuss.
As of today, Dalton Rushing is going on the IL with a right elbow strain and Ben Moravet
will be activated and you see this thing tomorrow, but tonight in only about an hour until this
game.
This is a huge turn of events because as we know, Tarek Skubal is starting tonight for
this Dodgers team, his Dodgers debut, and Will Smith will be an ideal option.
Dalton Rushing would be an ideal option.
And of course, Ben Moravet, the Dodgers hero, is catching Skubal for his first game.
Now, I don't think this is at all what the Dodgers expected, but this is why this team
is so smart because they knew this was a possibility and went out and acquired two catchers.
And we see this right here as well from Sleeper Dodgers.
Ben Moravet and Hunter Feducha are expected to join the team in Chicago on Tuesday.
As per Katie Wu, both are ready to go tonight and Moravet is getting the most of the starts
between the two expected tonight as well, once again, him catching for Tarek Skubal.
Now, it's also important to continue to consider that Moravet is expected to get the most starts
out of the two because something that Dave Roberts said left us with a lot of questions
to be asked about what the timeline is going to be for not just, at this point right now,
Dalton Rushing, but also Will Smith because Dave Roberts said this,
I don't think anyone knows how long it's going to be and he said this while discussing
how long Dalton Rushing will be out and this is a bit of a concern.
I'm not too worried whatsoever because once again, like I've been talking about,
like me and Chase have been talking about here, the Dodgers are in a great spot.
They have a great team.
We know the type of catcher Ben Moravet is.
He's an incredible player, especially when it comes to be able to guiding a pitcher to a win.
We let the offense do their thing.
Ben Moravet's only one bat and even with that, we know he can be a very solid bat there too,
but when you're missing a guy like Dalton Rushing and someone like Will Smith who has been out for
quite some time at this point, it's going to be a noticeable loss in the order,
but that's not one thing I think that the Dodgers should worry about.
Once again, they now have even better of a rotation than they did only a couple of weeks ago.
Players are coming back healthy.
This offense is still very, very good.
It's not something that this team is letting anybody worry about and they emphasize that by
making this a major trade deadline, but also going out and acquiring these two names.
Even with Dalton Rushing, the 253 average this year and 809 OPS, he's been very solid,
but he is in terms of health or putting someone in, replaceable when an injury like this does occur.
We've seen this a little while the past couple of weeks.
We've been seeing a lot about Ben Moravet.
GM Brendan Gomes came out and said this.
They were considering reacquiring Ben Moravet last month,
but finding out about Rushing's injury created the need.
Like me and Jace have spoken about,
Ben Moravet was really always in the cards for the Dodgers this year again.
We know how important he's been to this team in the past.
He is someone that would have been acquired for nothing,
and in this case, once again, pretty much was.
He's someone that this team trusts.
That is the big thing, and now they just need to see one more thing to make sure it had to happen,
and that's exactly the case.
We don't want to see Rushing hurt.
We don't want to see Will Smith hurt,
but it's better now than two months time, a month time, three months time,
you know, when you have these very, very important games,
and you're really hoping for the first time this season to have a full lineup,
and I mean, we look at the IL right now.
It's only the two catchers in the playoff,
or excuse me, in the player, I guess, non-pitcher IL,
which is a lot better than where it's been in the pitchers.
Tyler Glasnell, Blake Snell, they're coming back soon.
Gavin Stone and Chris Bubik as well, who they acquired on the trade deadline.
He's another name.
It's going to be very good, so they still have a lot of options.
You're looking at a lot of names here that are going to be super important
when it comes to playoff time,
and that's why these trades were made to ensure the Dodgers are comfortable to get there,
and we knew they were going to regardless.
Now, when we do look ahead of Ben Rohr,
but obviously, he's not going to shock anybody at the plate.
That's something that we've known before,
but like we've spoken about over the past couple of weeks,
his importance is with the pitching staff.
He can pretty much coach a pitcher to a win regardless of who it is,
regardless of the situation,
but even with the Dodgers last year's bat 224 average, it will do,
but I think we all remember the postseason
when he really shined in those three to four games that he did play,
and I think that's a big reason as to why the Dodgers were comfortable bringing him back
because of his clutch.
He was a very important player.
He understands the scenarios.
Now, with all of that, once again,
Dalton Rushing being moved around,
there's a few things that have changed around.
This is what the Dodgers tweeted out just earlier today,
a few hours ago, kind of confirming things
and really giving us now where our catching room is at.
The Dodgers added Hunter Feduccia to the roster,
selected the contract of Ben Rohr,
but optioned Eliza Alfonso and DFA'd Chucky Robinson.
That is the whole system now.
So, when Will Smith comes back,
when we see Dalton Rushing come back,
I think they're going to keep Ben Rohr around, obviously, as long as they can.
Same goes for Hunter Feduccia,
but this is a process that this team knows they have to go through.
They want to make sure everything is going good
and kind of just a little update on that status of our catching room now
since it's pretty much entirely revamped.
But with Tarek Skubal pitching, obviously,
it's going to be a big, big game.
You're seeing now the first game for him.
You're seeing a super exciting look with this new team ready to go,
it's going to be a big, big one.
For those who are always talking about this Dodgers team ruining baseball,
there's currently a banner flying around tonight above the stadium
with that written on it, I believe, is what Fabian Ardaya put out.
But if you look at these recent games from the Dodgers,
they need to make these trades.
They need all the help they can get, right?
You know, four in a row they've lost.
Six of their last eight, 11 of their last 19.
Obviously, I'm kind of joking.
They want to get as good as they can.
They've emphasized that.
They're not ruining baseball.
As Tarek Skubal said, and we're going to talk about in another video,
anybody could have traded for them.
Just so happened to be the Dodgers.
But Dan Clark's saying this.
They're certainly not invincible as the media,
and maybe baseball, many baseball fans, excuse me,
are making them out to be.
You know, baseball is baseball.
Sport's a sport.
Anybody can beat anybody.
That's the whole thing.
The Dodgers know that.
But really, when any team faces the Dodgers at this point,
especially tonight, it's going to be interesting to see
what it's like when we now have Tarek Skubal on the mound.
Teams, you know, they defeat themselves.
And I think that's a big thing that the Dodgers play into their hand.
They know that teams don't like playing against them.
But the fact that you have an advantage regardless
when you come into a game
because a team thinks that they've already been beaten,
it's certainly a help.
And once again, any team can do it,
but the Dodgers are just the best at it.
So folks, let me know what you think about these recent moves.
Of course, Ben Rohrbach catching tonight for Tarek Skubal.
Going to be awesome to see.
We have a lot more videos coming out,
especially with Tarek Skubal's comments.
Many, many other things that have started to kind of fall out
from this trade deadline.
You will not want to miss it.
We're going to have it right here on the channel.
So that's all I got on the phone.
If you enjoyed, give it a like, hit the sub button as well.
I'm signing out.
Thank you for watching.
Hope you have a great day.
