At just 18 years old, Margaret Wilson was given an impossible choice: deny Christ or drown.

In 1685, during one of the darkest periods of religious persecution in Scotland, Margaret was arrested for refusing to recognize the king as the spiritual head of the Church. She was imprisoned, condemned, and taken to the shores near Wigtown, where she was tied to a stake and left to face the rising tide.

The soldiers believed fear would break her. They forced her to watch another faithful woman disappear beneath the water. Then, as the sea rose around her, they offered Margaret one final chance to live.

All she had to do was compromise.

But Margaret would not deny Christ.

Cold, exhausted, and only moments from death, she prayed, sang the Psalms, and declared that she belonged to Jesus. The sea took her life, but it could not drown her faith.

This is the true story of Margaret Wilson, one of Scotland’s most unforgettable Covenanter martyrs—a young woman whose courage still confronts believers centuries later.
