Belgians experience amazing hand harvest in Burgozone vineyards

When you order a bottle of wine in a restaurant have you asked yourself how the wine is made. The great restaurant owners and sommeliers from De Spelleplekke take their staff and go to discover the origin of the Burgozone wines.

They arrived in Sofia and then drove 2,5h to Oryahovo on the Danube river. Burgozone which comes from the old roman fortress located on the banks of the river is a boutique, family winery with its own vineyard.

Starting early in the morning when the weather is still fresh, hand-picking the grapes is quite physical. With 100ha of single vineyards, Burgozone follows strict harvesting calendar according the different grapes. Once carefully inspected and collected, the grapes are taken quickly to the winery where another inspection takes place on the sorting table. Discovering how the freshly squeezed grape juice transforms into wine day by day is amazing.
