Kempsford is a historic village in Gloucestershire, close to Fairford and the border with Wiltshire, lying near the upper reaches of the River Thames. Its history stretches back well over a thousand years, and it was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086.

The village is perhaps best known for the Church of St Mary the Virgin, whose impressive tower has watched over Kempsford for centuries. Parts of the church date back to the 12th century, although much of the building was rebuilt and enlarged during the medieval period. The sound of its bells remains a familiar part of village life today.

For centuries, farming has shaped the surrounding landscape, with rich meadows along the Thames supporting agriculture and wildlife alike. The area is home to a wide variety of birds, making the early morning one of the best times to experience Kempsford at its most peaceful.

Today, Kempsford retains much of its traditional character, with quiet streets, historic cottages and a timeless rural atmosphere that reflects the gentle pace of life in this corner of the Cotswolds.
