The commentary suggests that Clark misread his audience, who are now fatigued by racial discourse, and concludes with a critique of journalist Nancy Armour's controversial writing.
I don't really cover a lot of sports in this show unless it becomes news.
But this guy has become news. And now his name is Ryan Clark. And up until very recently,
he worked for ESPN, Victor. And he was super, super confident when he wanted to rip on anything
relating to MAGA, Trump, or Republican politics, including Charlie Kirk. Listen here.
First off, it's the second most ridiculous thing he said this week. The first was standing on
campus and saying he wanted to put a statue up of somebody that doesn't represent the people
of Louisiana, doesn't represent the players and the students at LSU, doesn't represent
the executives that work there. That was the first dumb thing he said this week.
This is the second dumbest. He's ripping there on the Louisiana governor for wanting a Charlie
Kirk statue at the university, which clearly he objected to. So super bold and got his strong
opinions. OK, great. Don't be afraid to express them. And then ESPN fired him this week or last
week in the round of making some layoffs, I guess. And it didn't go very well. He didn't
handle it very well. Here's how that sounded. When I go home and this kid, you know,
from the West Bank is like so accepted in New Orleans now, like I wouldn't change that,
you know, never, you know, like I ever wanted to do would be accepted, you know, and want it. So.
I'm like, I'm sorry. It's just beneath the dignity, right, to go out there. All I ever
wanted was to be accepted. What are you talking as a layoffs? Like companies do it. It's unpleasant
for everyone. It doesn't mean anything about you personally. Obviously, you weren't one of their
top stars. They would have kept you. So he's not wrong there. But but just one more for you,
Victor. Jason Whitlock found this this guy full of was this false hubris or what? Because this is how
he talked about himself separate and apart from this. Listen here.
He said, I don't know about everybody else. I don't know about every other show. I don't
know what they're going to take you off. I don't know what they're going to put you on. I don't
know about that. You'll be on Monday night countdown. You'll work at halftime. You're
going to finish every night with Scott because you're the best we have. And I remember walking
back to the trailer, like skipping, you know, I'm saying because I was so down and I was hiding it
because I was like, man, they don't like they don't try to get me over this.
I do. They even and I just remember walking back and being like, he's right.
I am actually the best. You know, I've heard him a couple of times. He's not the best. Yeah,
you go. And he's obsessed with race. That's why he was fired, I think, because almost every single
episode where he starts off script, he starts talking about race and racial this and racial
that and racial that. And he misread his audience. People in the country have that fatigue. They
want to go beyond it. They don't think race is essential to your persona anymore. They've been
through the George Floyd. They've been through the last six years. They understand all of these
different issues. But one thing they agree on is the country won't make it if we have these
demagogues that keep trying to essentialize race, race, race, focus and use it and leverage it for
their own good. And they're tired of it. So there was no audience for what he was saying. In fact,
there was a he was bleeding an audience and he didn't understand that. And he kept he thought
it was still 2020. And, you know, everybody was giving a D.I. repertory benefits to people based
on their skin color. And that's not we're transcended that. I think people are really
fatigued out of that issue as well. Well, except for Nancy Armour over at USA Today.
Well, that's an exception. It's incredible, right?
This audience says we've been talking about this nutcase for years on this show because she's so
pro trans athletes running in women's track and field and playing in girls sports.
She I mean, she's never seen the trans athlete she wants to ban from the girl sport, no matter
how much danger it puts the girls in. And now she writes this insane, insane piece about Caitlyn
Clark, how she has to stop, quote, flopping where you overact in response to an alleged injury
in order to get a foul because of Emmett Till. Literally, that's what she wrote.
We may not always agree, but we are always going to talk about it and respect. No BS,
no agenda, no fear. For the first time since World War Two, our national debt has exceeded
the gross domestic product. America's reckless government spending keeps catching up with us.
Higher inflation, higher prices, higher cost of living expenses and higher interest payments
on the national debt. Every dollar Washington spends on interest is a dollar it has to tax
borrow or print. Smart retirement planners prepare for potential setbacks, and they can
