AI GeneratedFollowing LeBron James' move to the 76ers, the team is reportedly eyeing Contavious Caldwell-Pope (KCP) as a potential final addition. While rumors about Bronny James surfaced, reports indicate he is not part of a package deal. The focus remains on strengthening the roster's defense and veteran presence to maximize their championship window.
All right, now that LeBron is a Laker, it appears that there might be more dominoes to fall.
Let's talk about what the next move can and should be.
The breadcrumbs are out there.
Is it gonna be Bronny?
Hopefully not, maybe not.
What's going on, everybody?
Christian Pedersen, back with another episode of the show
that is looking at this photo back here in the studio and being like,
my Gansey cold.
Like, he with it.
He, all hail him.
My Gansey is great.
In case you, I was assuming you didn't miss it,
but earlier today, my Gansey landed LeBron James to the Sixers.
And so that means that we now have to start, number one,
talking about how this is now the starting lineup.
Oh, also like, subscribe, comment, share, tweet, all those kind of things.
But beyond that, there is signs
that there may be potentially a next target
for the 76ers to go out and get it.
And it sounds like Contavious Caldwell Pope is going to be square
in the crosshairs for the 76ers, looking like he could
take his buyout with Memphis and then be a target
to come in and be the, like the, this would, I'm assuming,
actually be the last piece.
We've been saying that every move is going to be the last move
or that Gansey's out of options and he keeps going.
So maybe there's still an NBA trade.
Maybe there's all these other crazy things.
But KCP feels like a really solid decision.
Now, definitely discussions going around like the joke version of this,
like, oh, is Brawny coming too?
Like, we can we can afford him.
We can acquire him from the from the adults in the room reporting.
I can give you this from Ramona Shelburne,
saying that there is no expectation.
They are not a packaged deal.
So I would err on the side of saying that most likely
this is just LeBron James coming here to actually do basketball,
not do not not that the father son thing isn't grand
and I don't love it or anything like that.
But it seems like the Brawny to the Sixers
is not going to be a thing.
And that LeBron's mindset
is coming here like after weighing everything.
And I had a video earlier today talking about the whole LeBron
tweet and all of his messaging.
And this echoes that that he is here
to declare this his best chance at a championship.
And this is where he wants to be.
So, OK, LeBron is here with just LeBron.
I think that the roster is really, really good.
Elite juggernaut is that there is still the elephant
in the room of Embiid's health and his availability and his ability
to be the big man and clean up on the boards
and that there's the gap that exists between him and Adem Bona
and Jani Broome and Ariel Huckporty.
And no matter how much any and all of us want to agree or disagree
that certain players in that secondary group are ready
for an uptick of a season, I can get where that you might want
to just talk about bringing in an adult, if you will.
Somebody who is a veteran,
has rings, can play the defense, can do all of that.
And while it seems that KCP is very capable of doing that,
51 games for him last season for the Grizzlies, 14 starts,
eight points, two assists, two and a half boards in 20 minutes,
shooting 40 percent.
He ended up with a pinky finger injury
that ended his season early, but,
you know, then exercises his player option
for the upcoming season for a large payout.
But then seems like he is now interested and available
and open to the idea of taking that buyout to help.
I think that the buyouts are great and they can help a lot of everybody.
And this is one where this can help Memphis retool,
clear out some space, and this can help the Sixers pick up.
I mean, the solution, the like, at some point,
we're going to have to start talking about like guys
going off the roster if we just keep piling on more and more talent.
So I guess I would be curious if we're going to add someone like this.
Do you see him?
Assuming you don't see KCP as a starter,
but is a heavily in the rotation kind of guy,
can guard the perimeter really well, can do the defense,
can not be somebody who has to be a primary or second,
like, offensively, the options are going to be that you've got to guard
Maxie, Brown, LeBron, Edgecombe, all those different guys in a way
that then there's the trickle down that I would assume that the
like that second and third group of guys that you're talking about,
even if you're saying, oh, KCP has some offensive issues or shortcomings
or has a lack of a desire, like he would just fit well as a defensive guy.
I joked about this when I did the Ben Simmons video,
like we got enough firepower that Ben Simmons could go sit in the corner
and wrap himself in the fetal position when we're on offense.
Not like I skip that.
That's a joke.
Like you don't want somebody to be a zero factor,
but like six points a game, four and a half points a game.
If he if if he's really willing to come in here
and can play most of the season on a lower,
like a veteran minimum contract and be a defensive guy
and be a substitution depth guy.
This does feel like as great of an option as possible.
This also feels like an option that, you know, you're talking about.
What does LeBron bring to the table?
Yes, it's drama and production and grandiosity.
But I don't know if someone like KCP gets in on this action
and opportunity without LeBron being here.
So I already sort of feel like, yes, LeBron is going to help us
on the court and deliver more results there.
But he's also helping us low key, it would seem,
in the availability and possibility of recruiting.
Wow. Also, again, I'll remind you,
doing it without bringing Nepo Baby 101 here, which again,
to me, shows just how like serious and into it that LeBron is.
So all of this obviously still unfolding in real time
as we absorb all this.
So there could be massive more moves to be made.
But it feels like right now the reporting is is that
the little cherry on top, the sprinkle, the last piece,
the the final move is going to be somebody like a
Contavious Caldwell Pope or in that range of a big
to help come in and be the last piece.
Say that knock on wood.
There could be an NB trade and all of that other kind of stuff.
But nonetheless, it feels like this is another massive,
big, great, awesome day for the Sixers.
Drop a comment with what you think about Bronny, about KCP,
about any and all of this as we go forward.
Love hearing from you guys.
Sean's got another couple of videos coming out.
So that's why I always say like, subscribe, comment, share.
Until next time, keep the faith, Sixers fans.
Just keeps getting better and better. Talk to you soon.
