Before calling Cowboys vs. Bengals in December 2024, Troy Aikman appeared on 105.3 The Fan and made a surprising declaration, naming Bengals star Joe Burrow as his favorite quarterback in the NFL. Aikman didn't stop at calling Joe Burrow his favorite current quarterback. He said Burrow might be his favorite player of all time, remarkable praise from a three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback. Aikman believes Joe Burrow has an old-school style, praising his toughness, pocket presence, anticipation, and ability to thrive in the physical, pressure-filled football era of the 1990s. While Aikman praised both Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen as elite quarterbacks, he pointed to Burrow's anticipation and ability to read defenses before plays develop as the trait that separates him from everyone else. Even though the Bengals struggled during the 2024 season, Burrow was anything but the problem. Despite Cincinnati's 4-8 record, Joe Burrow led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns. His elite numbers proved quarterback success isn't always reflected by team wins. Joe Burrow's talent has never been questioned, only his health. Despite a 2025 turf toe injury limiting him to eight games, he still posted a 5-3 record. Heading into 2026, the Bengals doubled down on their franchise quarterback by restructuring his contract to create salary cap flexibility and keep their championship window open. Despite multiple injuries, Joe Burrow keeps adding to his legacy. He earned a third Pro and still owns the NFL's highest career completion percentage at 68.6%. When Troy Aikman calls Joe Burrow his favorite quarterback, it says everything about Burrow's toughness, leadership, and elite play. Do you agree, or would you choose Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen?
