The WNBA has officially announced its All-Star starters for the July 25th Showcase in Chicago,
and Kaitlyn Clark earned her third straight All-Star selection.
What caught everyone's attention was the player vote.
Fans account for 50% of the final results, while media and current players each make
up 25%.
Clark finished second in the fan vote behind Paige Beckers, third in the media vote, but
only 11th among guards in the player vote.
This isn't the first time.
Last season, Clark finished first with fans, third with the media, and only ninth in the
player vote.
Despite those lower peer rankings, she secured a starting spot thanks to overwhelming fan
support and strong media recognition.
The numbers make the debate even more interesting.
Clark is having the best season of her career, averaging 21.2 points and 8.2 assists per
game, ranking second in the league in assists behind Alyssa Thomas.
She has continued to lead the Indiana Fever offense with elite scoring, playmaking, and
clutch performances.
No one knows exactly what influenced the player ballots, and every athlete values the game
differently.
But statistically, Clark has clearly earned her place among the league's top guards,
making her low player ranking one of the biggest talking points of this year's voting.
Whether you agree with the results or not, Caitlin Clark continues to prove why she's
one of the WNBA's biggest stars.
