Celebrating those who have faced persecution. But what a wonderful day that we can gather
here freely.
I looked back and saw a wonderful sea of blue and yellow -- the colors of the sea and the sky.
And the color of the sun, the sun that nourishes all of us.
I know that all of you have suffered in order to leave and come here. So I think of all of you as
angels. In my culture, we say that we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors. And I know that
you do as well.
I am particularly grieved that this year the CCP has said that people in China cannot visit the
graves of those who have practiced Falun Gong.
I have learned that you have a bill before Congress to protect the practitioners of Falun Gong,
and we commit to help you. Truth is always necessary. Forbearance is always necessary.
Compassion is always necessary.
I think it's wonderful that you share in this country. This country is now yours. And as those
buildings stand behind us like guardians, we will be your guardians.
Thank you for including us. Welcome to America, and welcome in this 250th year of
independence. Please continue celebrating yours.
