Inspired by a Rice Barn | The Rice Barn House

The Rice Barn House is a striking example of contemporary architecture that embraces vernacular elements and sustainable solutions. Inspired by the lumbung padi — a traditional Indonesian rice barn — the house features an elevated form with a trapezoidal prism roof, blending modern design, natural ventilation, and overhead lighting. Built on a compact lot, its three levels are organized to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, with the main floor surrounded by frameless sliding doors and continuous terraces. The combination of modern materials and principles of tropical architecture results in a compact, functional home perfectly adapted to the local climate.
