How This Eco-Conscious Brazilian Home Integrates Seamlessly into the Forest

The Vão House is a striking example of how modern architecture can coexist with the natural environment. Designed by Studio Carlito e Renata Pascucci, with lead architect Renata Pascucci at the helm, this 2022 project is located in the lush coastal landscape of Maresias, Brazil.

Situated at the foot of the Serra do Mar, the house occupies a modest 165 m² footprint on a vast 1,200 m² plot, a deliberate choice to preserve the native forest. By utilizing natural materials like wood and concrete, the design achieves a contemporary, organic aesthetic that feels like a natural extension of its surroundings.

Inside, the open-plan layout creates a fluid connection between the living, dining, and kitchen areas and the outdoors. Highlights include a stunning forest-facing deck off the bedroom and a central outdoor patio that brings the landscape into the heart of the home.
