Dodgers Make SHOCKING Change...
Jul 21, 2026
Los Angeles Dodgers have made a shocking change. The crazy update has dropped
surrounding Shohei Otani and the status of him on the mound this season. Folks, we
have a lot to break down and a lot to consider when it comes down to the
remainder of this Dodgers season as well as we get towards the trade deadline
with many names that have been injured returning soon. Things have taken a major
turn. We're gonna be breaking it all down here in this video. Now, folks, before we do get
into it, if you haven't already, be sure to drop a sub here on the channel. We're
currently sitting here at 17,107 subscribers. Trying to get to 18k. Help us
get there. We need 893 more of you guys, but you're
sportsmen and crazy. I appreciate all you guys. You're killing and we're gonna do
everything we can. Me and Chase will get you every single bit of Dodgers news
coming here on the channel. And with that being said, we need to get straight into
it because there's a lot of new things that have dropped surrounding Shohei
Otani and we spoke about this just a little bit yesterday during that video
but of course a trade happened. We moved this one to today. You see Dave Roberts
say this. Don't know yet, but kind of where we're at right now, how we're
proceeding, I would say it's going to be some time. This surrounds Otani on the
mound and when a return date may be. It's not going to be a day-to-day thing. I think once
we move to Emmett Sheehan, the rotation can keep going forward without Otani for the
time being. Again, I can't speak on how long that is going to be. Now, Dave
Roberts really emphasized the fact that he can't say anything just yet
surrounding the knowledge of when if he will return to the mound this season and
that's a pretty big development knowing that how good Otani has been, not just
the start of this season, but this entire year on the mound. We look at the
baseball savant right here and of course we know what he throws. He throws just about
everything. He is one of the best pitchers in the league. He's one of the
best hitters in the league at the same time and having him out of this rotation
is obviously going to be a huge noticeable thing and we're going to go
over why this may not all be such a bad thing here in a moment. Before we do
those folks, we have a word from the sponsor of this video, Prizepix.

Now, the good news and I know that may not seem like there is good news behind
this, but Dave Roberts said this. Honestly, I think the part of it, a lot of it, is
where we are at. We put ourselves in a good spot in the sense of could he
probably pitch if so, if he needed to. Sure, but right now the benefits don't
seem to outweigh the cost at this point in the season. So for not really knowing a
whole lot, we know what's the need, we don't know the timeline, this is about as
positive as things could have gotten. Dave Roberts saying he can pitch, but they don't
want to risk it at this point and that is by far the smartest decision to make.
There's no doubt because when we go ahead here and look at his stats, we look
at Otani's stats in the past couple of seasons, he's been great. You know, there's no
doubt about it. You look at the innings pitch, 132, 166, 130 with the Angels. Last
year with the Dodgers, 47. He's already pitched about double this year what he
did last year and that's excluding the postseason of course, but you know that
it's going to take some time to ramp up to get back if at all to that 166
innings mark, which the Dodgers don't need him to do. So given that we've seen
him already, plus the way the rotation looks right now with Yamamoto, Emmitt
Sheehan, Gus Robucki, Eric Lauer, Roki Tsutaki, and although Emmitt Sheehan didn't have
the greatest performance last night, there's a lot of positives still that we
can run with this. I don't think this is going to be a crazy impact of Otani out
of the rotation, but I do think it is certainly something to keep an eye on,
especially the way we saw Dave Roberts discuss Will Smith, how he was on, I believe it was the 10 or 15 day aisle, one of the two that he's on.
gonna rush them back because the big thing now is prepare for it, not just the
trade deadline where we know they're probably gonna make a few other low-key
underrated additions, probably not go out and spend heavily at this deadline,
although they certainly can. You get a Blake Snell back, you get a Tyler Glasnow
back, you get ready for the postseason, they're gonna be in a good spot, they're
already in a good spot, and I think right now the way we've seen this team
perform on the mound, at the plate, it's all going to be fine, and also on top of
that, Otani is not gonna be not hitting, and we look at the Savant here on the
offense, it's just about as good, if not better, than what we're seeing pitching,
so on top of this, you're not losing him completely, you still have him in, he could be shut
down, maybe, I don't think so for sure, but the Dodgers could throw him in the game
here and there if they want to, if they need to, if they feel like Otani could
kind of slow down a little bit in his performance, he's still gonna be throwing
and I think at the end of the day, that is what matters, so given all of that,
given where, once again, we are in the standings, although we don't have the
best record in the MLB anymore, that belongs to the Brewers,
I think 63-37, well, 64-37 now, compared to 51-48, not too bad, like Dave Roberts said,
puts us in a very good position for not needing Otani to pitch every single day,
every single game, and the best thing to do is let him rest, get him healthy for
There's also a little bit of this, I feel like that's gonna cause a few questions
surrounding the rotation, are they in the trade? You see this here, the Dodgers do
not plan on going all-in on Eric Scouble, they'll be around if the opportunity
arrives, they plan on operating the trade deadline similar to last year by looking
to improve on the margins, but refrain from big splashes, so whether or not
Scouble is the option, I think that it's certainly a case where you want to not
see Eric Scouble in the postseason, if someone else got him, certainly, I think a very good
example of that is what we saw from, of course, Jeff Passan say the other day,
last night against Christopher Sanchez, he was very good, you don't want to play
against him, and if you have the opportunity to take out one big name in
Eric Scouble, it makes sense, but I don't think that changes anything too much, I
don't think that this is the case for Katie Wu, and of course, Otani being out, I
don't think changed a whole lot when it comes to that either, but I want to know what you
guys think down below, do you trust the rotation enough without Otani, and this
should be yes, I mean, for sure, I'm dropping a Y in the comments, let me know
down below, Y for yes, N for no, if you trust the rotation, I do think that, you
know, with Emmett Sheehan, his performance as of late, and kind of throughout this
season, it's been sketchy, but it hasn't been the worst thing we have seen, and
plus how Yoshi's been performing, how the rest of this rotation's been performing, plus
hopefully, very, very soon, getting Blake Snell back, you're gonna be fine, you know,
if things get into a dire situation, which let's hope they don't, I do not
believe they will, they may bring Otani back into the rotation, but I do think we
have nothing to worry about here whatsoever, so folks, let me know what you think down below about that as well, and I also want to, you know, kind of show this off from what we saw in yesterday's trade with Seth Halvorson, you're giving up these
types of trades, this type of asset, Nick Brasso, Landon Witterecht, you're getting Seth Halvorson,
