July 21: Celebrity Dish

It's now 1028. That means it's time for a little celebrity dish with Jay Carter. Hi everyone. Hi, good morning. Good to see everyone, as usual. Good to see you as well. You've been really busy. Yes, I have. I mean, I just, a few weeks, well not even a few weeks, maybe two and a half weeks ago, BET Awards. So that was great. Covered that with the Entertainment Esquire and the Black Lawyers podcast. So I really enjoyed that. And yeah, I'm just trying to enjoy my summer before all the court cases start back up. But Entertainment Esquire will be back regularly resumed starting at the end of next month, end of August. Okay, noted. All right, we'll all tune in for that. But in the meantime, you can enjoy summer a little bit. Yes, exactly. All right, let's get into the first little TMZ here this morning. Charles Latelier joining us now live from LA. Okay, first up, let's talk a little bit about this soccer star who, his, well, there's a lot to follow here. His baby mama is basically saying that he cheated on her. He was abusive in this post that is now going viral. Talk to us a little bit about this. Yeah, it's timing. Timing is the key thing here because Maduka Okoye is the Nigerian goalie, the national team, the goalie for their national team. He's gotten a lot of attention. Wait a minute. I remember this man. I saw a video. Yes, Cardi B. He's the guy who's been, he was with Cardi B at Paris Fashion Week. And most recently, they were hanging out in Italy together. And right after that, the mother of Maduka's child, a model, a Dutch model named Jaleesha Westhoff, she put this post on social media claiming that he was abusive to her, that he is a horrible father, ignores their kid, that he cheated on her, and a lot of different allegations. Now, none of those have been proven at this point. And we have been trying to reach Maduka to get his side of things. We have not heard back from his team. But it is interesting. A lot of people think that the reason Jaleesha is doing this now is that she is seeing him hanging out with Cardi B and thinks that he is reaching a new level of stardom and that she has a lot of grievances, unsettled grievances, and now she is airing them out with everyone. Well, she's getting left behind, right, essentially. But I'll do you one better, Charles, even before this post. She actually did it a post right before this. This was maybe when that first post went viral a couple of weeks ago. And she accused him of also like walking them out of the house. So this is actually not her first post. And she actually said, I didn't want to come to social media, but... Yeah, I love when people say that. I didn't want to, but here we are. I didn't want to, but I know my fingers just... She was like, but you're basically forcing me. You're basically forcing me to expose you. So this is actually the second post. And I'm sure her seeing him with Cardi B, that just took her over. I think what's happening here is that she's realizing because of his relationship with Cardi B, he's got more to lose as far as his public profile. And so she probably feels like this is the time. If I'm ever going to get a response from him, maybe this is it. Yeah, absolutely. Interesting. So are they officially dating? Did I miss that part? No, I don't think that there was anything official, right, Charles? Yeah, nobody's said anything. But why are they hanging out together in multiple cities around the world? Outside of the fashion show. Because you can sit beside someone in a fashion show, but you don't have to continue to go out with them. Interesting. Right. My concern is if there's any validity to any of these claims. I would hate to be the one to shed doubt on this woman if she is, in fact, telling the truth. But right, there's always two sides to every story. So I do want to err on the side of caution in regards to that, which if this is the case, shame on him for whatever that may look like. But also we've seen plenty of people take advantage of stars when they're rising to power and rising through the ranks, if you will. So this is a touchy subject. All the things going on in Cardi B's head right now, everything you just said, Jacqueline, is exactly what Cardi is thinking. Well, I always say don't take it to us in social media. Take it to the courts. Why are you coming to us? You know what? I always say that. What can we do as a just file your complaint in court and let the attorney. All right. Not to be a lawyer, but I am a lawyer. Can I also add that maybe Cardi B should be a little more careful with her history? Now, that's a whole that's a whole nother thing. That's a whole segment right there. I love my girl, but that's a whole nother thing to be some reoccurring issue. There's some reoccurring patterns for sure. Here we are. One thing's for sure. When it comes to Tom Brady, he's always been known for throwing touchdown passes. Now, perhaps he's providing body slams. WWE future in Tom Brady's future because of that spat with Logan Paul. Yeah, we found out that TMZ Sports broke this yesterday that Tom Brady is in negotiations. He's in talks with the WWE to do something. We don't know what, but something involving Logan Paul. They have been for a couple of months now going back and forth with each other in public. It really came to a head last week at Fanatics Fest in New York when Tom Brady just smacked Logan Paul, hit him really hard. This was not in a wrestling ring where you can see where they're manipulating, faking, we'll say, or acting. He hit him hard. Everyone thought, all right, well, this is a real beef. Here's what's going on. Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. So is Ari Emanuel. Ari Emanuel is the CEO of TKO, the company that runs and operates the WWE. That's what started this. Basically, Tom is talking to his buddy Ari, and they're trying to work out some deal for him to do something, whether he shows up in the ring or he's outside the ring. It's clear the WWE wants Tom Brady or some match involving Logan Paul. That's why they've been doing this whole buildup. It happened again at the World Cup also. They were both there and had some hand signals that they were throwing at each other. The WWE, this is what they do. They do this very well. They build their storylines, and then it turns into something at either WrestleMania or SummerSlam. Why wouldn't you want the GOAT of the NFL to join in? It makes sense for the WWE. It's a different sport. You don't know how to box. I just feel like it's a different... We're going to have a Ray J part two up here, where Ray J gets in. I know Ray J is an athlete, but Tom Brady... It's a little bit different. I think Charles will concur. It's a little bit different in WWE. Some of it... Well, it's never staged, right, Charles? I honestly, when I saw this video for the first time of Tom Brady smacking Logan Paul, I thought it was fake. I thought it was an AI video that somebody had recreated. I was like, there is no way that this just happened, but Bear Lamb's wrong, clearly. Yeah, no, he really slapped him. Logan Paul said, I'll take one for the team. Yeah, Logan Paul said, I'll take one for the team to set this whole thing up. Wow. All right. Well, we definitely keep a close eye on that. I'm looking forward to that. To tie those, like, to do, like, a cross-brand, I think it's amazing. I think it's a win for both of them. And by the way, those are rollers in his hair. You were wondering what was in his hair. Guy was like, what are those? We're like, oh, those are rollers. You know what this also reminds me of? Jay-Z recently was getting his hair washed with the Sacred products. Oh, yeah. That cross-promotion as well. Yes, and he was getting ready for his tour. So I'm not saying that they took a play from that, but it's giving that. But either way, I like both. Absolutely. And I think it's cute them kind of playing off each other here, too, in the video. Like, kind of gives us a little bit more of an insight into their relationship, which is nice. Amazing. Good to see.
