A rundown home in Manatee County has turned one woman's retirement into a nightmare. FOX 13's Blake
Devine reports from a senior living community in Ellington where neighbors are demanding the house
be torn down. Patty Clark picked Colony Cove a 55 and up community in Ellington to live out her
golden years. In my my last decade of my life was I wanted to be around people and I wanted to join
clubs and activities and do arts and crafts and play bingo and all that good stuff. But that dream
didn't last as this pink house next door has become much more than an eyesore. I'm a senior,
I'm by myself and I don't want to live in a house knowing that there's squatters next door.
Next door neighbor Nancy Ross says the home hasn't been the same since Hurricane Milton.
If we get a really bad storm there's things that are just kind of hanging in there I mean
they're not even attached to the house anymore. This all started because of this big blue sign
it read future new home site. Clark says it's what sold her on the house next door. It was really
kind of false deception for me to buy the house because I thought there was going to be it was
going to be demolished. As dozens of days and months have passed problems have piled up. There's
rats here that you know there's debris laying around I think it needs to be torn down. Clark
says there's only one way to make things right. Tear that house down immediately or I want my
money back that I paid on this house I want my lot fee and I'll be out of the community. We
reached out to the property management group for Colony Cove and are still waiting on a response.
