Sadly, that smoke has moved back in.
Now, thankfully, it is not as bad
as it was Thursday and Friday,
but it is still a bit hazy out there.
As we take a live look around the area
from multiple different cameras,
you can see that haze on the horizon from Mount Clemens.
Same with downtown Detroit,
and maybe even at our Fox 2 studios here in Southfield,
just a little bit of haze out there.
Although things do look pretty good up north.
Mackinac City, Mackinac Island,
I guess is what that should say.
That is better air quality for Northern Michigan right now.
So where do we currently stand?
In the orange level at around 125.
So this is still unhealthy for some groups,
but it is a far cry from where we were late in the week,
where we saw numbers that were over 400 and shoot,
sometimes it was over 500.
Skies are still hazy.
We still recommend using air filters
and limiting your time outdoors.
I know the kids are feeling a bit cooped up.
They can play outside.
If they are more comfortable wearing a mask,
that is probably a good thing,
but just make sure they're taking plenty of breaks
and coming back in the house
where that air continues to be filtered.
Here's the models for the smoke.
We're gonna pick it up at 630 tonight,
and you'll still see some of that color out there.
The yellows, the oranges, that lingers a little bit.
By tomorrow afternoon, getting a little bit better.
Now, this part I don't love,
that it could last until about Tuesday.
However, if we do get some showers and thunderstorms
that do move in,
that may help move some of that smoke around
a little bit more.
Some winds starting to gust a little bit.
Now, it's that north wind
that still continues to be the problem.
We'll get a shift back to the south
a little bit later in the week,
but this may be a thing we deal with not just for tomorrow,
but potentially into Tuesday as well.
Visible satellite showing a little bit of that haze to it.
That is the smoke.
You can really pick it up back out towards areas
near Milwaukee and Green Bay.
But yeah, those are satellites in outer space
that are picking up on that smoke
down here at the surface of the earth.
Some showers and thunderstorms down to the south.
We will avoid any kind of rain
until we move into the overnight hours,
Monday night into Tuesday.
As those storms do start to develop,
they could be on the stronger side,
so potentially strong, maybe even some severe weather
making its way in.
That is tomorrow night, very late tomorrow night,
like 2 a.m. to 2 to 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
And then those body storms will likely still pop up
even as we move into the afternoon and evening.
But then a big drop.
We go from 85 down to 75 by the middle of the week,
and it should be some pretty nice air.
Hopefully that smoke will kick out
and we can go outside and enjoy that.
