NFL Scandal: Ryan Gold Caught in Gambling Controversy

Gigantic storylines and before we get into some of the teams I've got to get into the story what's going on out in arizona with ryan gold. What was your takeaway from that? You know, we just come off the heels of the brendan soresby story about you know They're concerned with gambling and now you have an executive director of college scouting That's throwing prop bets out and all this. What was your takeaway on this story really troubling for the commissioner? Yeah, dan, I I think this is about the worst nightmare the nfl could have I mean They're very strict with their gambling rules as it is But when you have an upper level decision maker like that gambling on something related to the league where he may have we don't know exactly what props he bet, but he Likely has some inside information about that. That's that's exactly what the league would fear whenever you talk about like all the You know, we have a lot of gambling going on now and it's becoming more widespread and all this stuff and we're sort of Agreeing to deals with these companies, but we got to make sure the integrity of the product remains So this is about one of the worst things that could happen from a gambling perspective for the league I mean the only thing that could be worse is if a player Impacted the on field product and you know through a game or something We've not heard anything about that But I think the nfl is going to come down pretty hard on this with whatever punishment is necessary to just Use this as a case and say hey, this is not allowed No one can do this if you think you can get away with it you can't so i'll be very interested to follow how this story unfolds and develops, but Certainly, this is exactly what the nfl would have feared when they you know, weighed the pros and cons of saying Hey, we're gonna get involved with this gambling stuff. We're gonna promote it So it could end up being a big mess then so we'll see where they go from here
