Falun Standing Meditation

Now, Teacher Li will show us how to do the exercise.
To prepare, conjoin the hands in Jieyin, as before.
Then, slowly raise the arms while separating the hands from Jieyin.
When the hands are in front of the head, the palms should be directed toward the face at eyebrow level.
Have the fingertips of the two hands point toward each other.
Form a circle with the arms, and relax the whole body.
The Falun Standing Meditation is the second Falun Dafa exercise.
It is a meditative standing exercise composed of four wheel-holding positions.
The positions in this exercise are rather simple.
Each needs to be held for quite some time.
Beginners' arms may initially feel heavy and achy.
After doing the exercise, however
the whole body will feel relaxed and refreshed, with none of the fatigue that normally comes with physical work.
Slowly bring both arms downward from the previous position.
Maintain the wheel-holding position as the hands reach the lower abdomen.
Keep a distance of about 10 centimeters (or 4 inches) between the hands and the abdomen.
Hold the elbows slightly forward, keeping the underarms open.
Have the palms face upward, with the fingers of the hands pointing toward one another.
The arms should form a circle.
As practitioners increase the duration and frequency of the exercise
they may sense a Falun rotating between their arms.
Doing the Falun Standing Meditation frequently
will enable one’s energy to flow through the entire body without obstruction, and will enhance one’s spiritual power.
The Falun Standing Meditation is a comprehensive means of increasing one’s wisdom, elevating spiritually
and strengthening higher powers all at the same time.
Though the exercise is very simple, the things it develops are quite numerous and comprehensive.
Slowly raise the arms, maintaining the round shape, until the hands are over the head.
Have the palms face downward, with the fingers of the hands pointing toward each other.
The arms will continue to hold a circular shape.
Keep the shoulders, arms, elbows and wrists relaxed.
When doing the Falun Standing Meditation
move naturally, and keep the wheel-holding positions unchanged.
Do not sway during the exercise, particularly not on purpose.
From the position of holding the wheel above the head, slowly lower the hands to the sides of the head.
The palms should face the ears, with the forearms upright and the shoulders relaxed.
Each of the four wheel-holding positions in the Falun Standing Meditation should be done for a long time.
The longer they are held, the better.
But it can differ from person to person as they are able.
Overlap the hands in front of the lower abdomen, as before.
Jieyin.
