Throughout the course of this tour it has inspired me to maybe step up the douchebaggery
a little bit.
I like to have my head facing forward, do not take this advice if you're touring that
is not safe.
Yo!
We're Super Sometimes and welcome to our bus invaders.
We are currently on tour with Arm's Length supporting their headline for their album
that came out called There's a Whole World Out There.
We are playing with Callis Dowboys and Harrison Gordon.
We are the first of four on this bill, so let's check out our rig.
Welcome to the two captain seats.
We got the co-pilot and pilot right here where all the driving gets done, music gets played
very loud, and we drive to city, city as safe as we can.
Definitely try to keep a co-pilot here as much as we can just so if homeboy over here
gets tired he can stay awake, you know.
No, co-pilot is a big no-no.
Yes.
Me and Gabe are the main drivers in the van host.
Gabe definitely is number one, but I think I come as a hug.
Usually it's us two, but if there's sometimes he'll be driving with somebody completely
nodding off because we don't want to die.
Can't lie.
It's happened a couple times, you know, like no co-pilot, but we try to keep a co-pilot,
but moving on to tunes.
Normally driver picks, we've been bumping a lot of Knuckle Punk, a lot of…
Very true to exactly what you think we would be listening to is what's going on in here
except for the…
I've been listening to the new Division of Mind record.
Been listening to Irate, kind of going back and looking at, listening to some of the classics
that I haven't tapped in with.
Listening to Cold as Life, Born to Land Hard.
What else?
When all else fails I just throw on Misery Signals, that's my favorite band of all time.
Educating us.
Putting us on.
Putting us on the things that we need.
Real ones now.
But aside from, we'll shout out a few more bands, I think Stateside from back home, Auto
Ignition, just dropped an EP.
They've been on rotation pretty heavily.
In Balance from Bakersfield.
Meditary from San Diego.
And then definitely like pop punk go-tos like Gabe said.
Knuckle Punk, State Champs, Story So Far, Real Friends.
Green Day, freaking Blink.
Yeah, Green Day, Blink, Neck Deep.
For me.
On the late night drives, you got the Beatles, a little bit of George Harrison, you know.
Yeah.
The oldies.
The wings.
Oasis.
The police.
Oasis, yes.
Oasis is also a good one.
Moving on to the second, second zone of the Super Sometimes bus.
The most important.
Have to really stress.
We have the lounge slash bench seat.
Yo, yo.
As you know, we have Call of Duty in the van.
Running some Black Ops 3.
On the Xbox One.
This is some very elite technology for a band of our size.
I think a lot of people at our stage don't get this luxury.
Shout out Gabe's dad, Ricky, who kitted us up with a generator.
Anchor.
Shout out Anchor Power Supply.
Sponsor us.
It's a box.
You know, they provide power.
Shout out Ricky Munoz.
He did a lot of these up here, did a lot of the lights, ran a lot of the cabling for what
we will go back over there and discuss.
But we got the bench seat where we have Call of Duty, you know, keep long drives, feel
like it was two hours.
Yeah.
We got the Xbox in the middle right there.
If you see the controller, they're in a game literally right now as we speak.
68 and 5 by the way.
68 and 5?
Holy.
We have storage up here.
We have a little bit of snacks up here.
We have tubs of cookies that got absolutely destroyed.
We love a good cookie.
We're not scared to take baked goods.
We trust you.
If we die, it's your fault and everybody will know it's your fault because we post when
we get baked goods.
To protect ourselves.
Moving on to the second level, we got the little hallway right here where we have shoe
racks that are all taken up by amazing shoes and doing what they're supposed to.
We have a trash can back here.
It's a little bit full that we have to, you know, swap out.
But we keep all of our shoes in here and all of the hats, try to keep this area clean so
we can walk always.
And if you get a little bored of sitting down, you can stand up.
A lot of bands don't have bands where you can stand up and we're fortunate enough to
have a band where you can stand up in.
I'm 6'3 and I can stand in here without touching the roof.
It's pretty revolutionary.
Sometimes you get a little bored so you want to just play right here, chill right here.
It's very nice being able to stand up.
As you've seen from the front to the back so far, pause.
We're a band who takes pride in keeping it very clean.
It's not the best right now because we are four days out from being on tour, but you
will see other bands' bands where there's ---- on the floor literally everywhere.
If you look down here, we got some very convenient...
Dust busters.
Yeah, we got the dust buster.
It's alive right now.
We use it to vacuum.
We have a jumper cable just in case something happens.
Essentials, just in case we don't die.
Check this out.
Back here, we have liquid IVs.
We have mucinex.
We have...
Whatever, Jimmy bars.
Jimmy bars.
We keep it stacked.
And over here at the very end...
This is essential right here.
This is essential.
We have paper towels.
Toilet paper.
What do you guys know?
Sometimes the Love's restroom stops can get very devious, so you have baby wipes on deck
at all times.
You have trash bags.
The list goes on.
We have paper cups, forks, spoons, napkins.
Scorch.
Everything you need.
Scorch.
Toothbrushes, toothpastes.
Yes.
We like to bring people when we're on tour to ride with us in the van if possible.
Last tour was State Champs and Stateside.
We took Lemus and he came on a ride with us from city to city and he brought no toiletries
and he was completely fine because we were strapped with toothbrush, toothpaste.
He could give himself a baby wipe shower, which I don't recommend doing, but it is something
that you are able to do if you're traveling air sometimes, hotel vans.
Keep yourself strapped.
You need it.
It's essential.
Carry those essentials.
It's like having things in your house because this is our house.
Welcome to our house.
We are now going to be making our way to the sleeping quarters.
Zone three.
Let's call it zone three out of four.
So this is going to be where all of us sleep.
People are very surprised when they hop in our van to see that we have six bunks right
here to be able to sleep up to six people.
There's only five of us on this tour, but in theory we could have six.
This is Gabe's bunk right here.
Check this out.
I have a board that straddles the middle and I will put these two together, sleep sideways.
So this will make like the master, the master bedrooms.
They try to throw me up top thinking I would fall off, but instead I improvise, adapt and
overcome.
This is a Ricky innovation right here.
Obviously you can see the slots on the board so that they will hang over these two little
borders to create the master suite.
I'm down here.
We got some curtains and if you actually want to look in here, we've got a very special
someone taking a nap.
Good morning.
Yo, good morning.
How are you?
Go back to bed, bro.
So we got our bunks right here.
I'm a little too tall for, usually I like to have my head facing the back.
But I'm a little too tall right now.
So I like to have my head facing forward.
Do not take this advice if you're touring that is not safe.
We got little pockets up here.
Sometimes I like to throw camera lenses in here, my phone, spare batteries.
And sometimes I throw some hoodies on.
Got toiletries right here.
Can't go wrong with that.
And yeah, just chill.
Everything is able to be stored.
Everybody's very well accommodated.
We have all pouches on every floor of Motel Benz.
So you can store all your goodies.
Everybody has random ---- in all of theirs.
Obviously there's these front facing ones that are reserved for typically like our shoes
and stuff.
And then inside, like Tommy said, there's one of these in each one.
So everybody has an assortment of bullshit in there.
This is like the commutal one right now.
We got some vinyls in there.
Some record store pickups we can take a look at really quick.
This would be me, Silverstein.
I am alive in everything I touch.
Shout out Silverstein.
Very underrated record.
A big pause.
Shout out Bond Zipper, our sunglass sponsors.
Those definitely stay with us.
Some other assortments.
We got a little light to read books with in the dark.
Shout out Blink 182 from San Diego.
Waggy, Rectum, and Zulu.
So yeah, not much more to it aside from that.
For me, Tommy and Josh.
Oh, chocolate.
There you go.
Got the chocolate.
Candy for breakfast many days.
Got the lenses.
You already know.
You fit everything in here.
Motel bands.
Really, anything you could think of, we have for the most part.
Your necessities on tour.
Again, for me, Tommy and Josh, we're particularly tall people.
I think we're all like six foot or above.
So there's definitely some nights where feet are hanging over the edge.
But we make do.
I'd say we're living pretty lavish for a band of our level.
And we're very grateful.
So again, shout out the Ludwig family for helping us kit this out.
Shout out Gabe's family.
But especially Ricky.
This is his baby and his creation.
He knows his band inside and out.
Yeah.
And he kitted us up for this tour after the last couple bands that we rented
---- themselves every time that we went out on tour.
We also, part of the hotel experience, we have a fan right here.
So we'll turn it on.
It'll suck all the hot air out.
Because sometimes when you're sleeping in the bunks, it can get pretty hot.
So the fan keeps it from all going out.
And then we also up there have a diesel heater.
So a heater that runs off the diesel, the van can be off.
And it'll keep it nice and hot while it's cold.
Welcome to the last and final zone of the Super Sometimes Tour Motel Bands.
Where the storage goes.
Well, it's something of a makeshift storage,
makeshift studio for doing demoing and kind of a gym as well.
This is kind of like the multipurpose room of the van.
If you want to take a second to yourself to get away,
you can come all the way back here.
There's been many days where people have came back here to lift weights
while the car is moving, which is kind of stupid.
But it is an option.
We've also sometimes moved the Xbox back here.
If for some reason we don't want to crowd the front too much.
We have clothes racks.
Yes.
A new addition.
Okay, before we get into all this,
all of this, before the trailer was involved,
this was where we stored all of our gear.
Including the drums.
I will find a picture to show the camera once we're done.
But we added these clothes racks so you can hang your clothes,
hang your towels when you need to.
So right here is where the box, the power box would go.
You could plug in the fan.
And that also has – it's hooked up to a battery right here
where it charges that box.
Oh.
While the van is driving, it runs off the alternator,
so you never lose power.
We have fans back here to keep us cool when it gets hot.
Yes, very essential.
And all of what Dylan said, the weights, the demo.
Also, very important to note, they are up there,
but Josh and Matthew are our resident vintage clothing heads.
So these racks were put in place not even to dry our towels,
but specifically for them to be able to hang their vintage clothes
because they're really just heads like that.
And I respect it because that's a level of game that I think
the other three of us in the crew have not necessarily hopped on yet.
But throughout the course of this tour,
it has inspired me to maybe step up the douchebaggery a little bit
and hop on the vintage clothes wave the next tour.
I'm not sure what their pickups have been on this tour that have been super sick,
but you can just look through a quick skim.
They got what I would assume is their favorite pieces to wear on this tour.
I could tell you nothing about when or where they came from,
except for this one.
This is mine from Josh, who has a clothes brand called Shattering.
I was wearing this a lot on the tour until Allen Steinberg in Nashville
bit leaves off of a tree and then proceeded to chew them in his mouth
and then bite me on my collar.
And I kind of keep it as a memory forever.
I will frame it in a photo frame when I get home
to remind me of the night that Allen Steinberg bit me.
Shout out, Arms Life.
This quick throwback, this is where we used to throw all of the gear back here.
As you can see, it got really complicated.
Tetris.
Tetris. It started filling out more.
This is all the drums right here on the left side, our guitar amplifiers,
the merch on the bottom, snare drum, sleeping mattress,
and then all of the luggage completely Tetris in a way that is unfathomable to most.
And then all of the guitars right here.
And at the end of the day, we put in the merch racks.
So having a trailer is a huge upgrade.
Having all this space is a huge upgrade.
We've been Super Sometimes of San Diego.
Thank you so much for joining us on our Bus Invaders, a.k.a. Motel Benz.
Shout out, Arms Length, for having us on our second ever full U.S. tour.
After this, you should go check out our brand new album,
Show the World What's Underneath, out now on Pure Noise Records,
streaming literally everywhere you can listen to music.
