Kevin and Nico from Electric Cowboy give a tour of their tour bus during the \"TanzNight\" tour. They explore the balance between the communal life of a 14-person crew and the essential need for privacy, detailing their health habits, strict bus etiquette, and the psychological strategies they use to maintain mental well-being and strong interpersonal relationships while on the road.
And you go to that toilet and use it poop-wise. You have to help put it down with your thumb.
I don't want to talk. Whenever I know somebody's sitting here, I'm like, oh no.
Excuse me, we don't buy anything at the door. Maybe you better come in and show us your products.
Hey guys, this is Kevin and Nico from Electric Cowboy. Hey, what's up?
What do we say? Welcome to our home. This is our tour bus. We are actually staying for more than
I think four weeks. And we're touring through North America right now with our TanzNight tour.
That's the name of our album that's gonna come out later this year. And we're gonna show you a
bit of our tour bus right now. So yeah, this is actually the area where I would say from time to
time people are hanging out here. But usually Ray, our photographer, is sitting right there
right after the shows and preparing his photos and stuff like that.
Our area, I would say, is more upstairs that we're gonna show you later. But also
after every show we play, we have different ends of our work. We're gonna have a shower
after the show and then go back to the bus very late. Sitting here talking. Exactly, that's where
we all land. I don't even know. There are like 12 or 14 people on this bus. I don't even know
to be honest. Yeah, I think around 14. So even if there was something during the show that we
didn't like or something, this is the place where we are going to discuss it afterwards.
Just like, I don't know, like all preparing some new stuff. And this is a good working space.
We have a TV. I don't even know if we've used that on the tour. I don't think so.
Like in times of... I have a smartphone. I watch so many stuff on my smartphone.
But this TV, it's better to have one than to need one. Yeah, I mean, from time to time we're
sitting here and playing some card games and stuff. But it's pretty rare, to be honest. Of
course, sometimes we tied it up. We are very, very organized people. Usually we kind of have
lectures here. We educate ourselves with a lot of books that are hidden somewhere else right now.
And sometimes we just talk about philosophy, about life, how to get bigger. We cry together. Yeah.
And that's what we do here. And I think it's very comfortable. Sometimes we sleep here. Sometimes
we just hang out. Even here you can put your feet on the table. Some don't allow it. I always do it.
But yeah. So yeah, this is actually like the place for a good midnight snack, I would say.
Because the thing is, we have a lot of things on our catering rider and usually we are not drinking
and eating that much during the day. So everything is taking place right here. So we have like the
fridge right here where you can put like drinks, even more drinks. Like Daniel, for example, our
bassist, he's like, he's very jacked right now. So he's taking care of his health a lot. And to
be honest, the health factor was brought to the band by Frank. He's a very healthy guy,
very healthy living guy. And it's something very, very important for us nowadays that we take
much more care about our bodies in general. And that's why you see a lot of protein stuff, a lot
of like you see protein powder and creatine and oh, and the very important like the creamy one
peanut butter. Yeah, talking about this is like, I don't eat you, I hate you. I take you. Yeah,
this is actually just here to tempt us all the time. You know, like, yeah. And if someone reaches
for the peanut butter, you get slapped in the face. That's actually my favorite thing. Coconut
water. I can't live without it. You also like nut water a lot. Well, yeah, that's that's actually
like, I don't know. Oh, yeah. Do we have more drawers? Yeah, we have more. On tour, we are
provided with a lot of general and basic stuff, of course. But if there's something specific that
someone wants, we have to write names on it, as you can see, because it gets taken away so quickly.
You can't even watch that fast. Oh, yeah, that's the good one. As you can see, that's actually a funny
thing. Back in the days, like beer was one of the most important things. I mean, of course, we're
Germans. But right now, nowadays, it's actually, oh, we're not drinking much. So, yeah, all the alcohol
that is on a rider is staying in the US. At the moment, we're living a little bit
sober, I would say. Yeah. I mean, we have our warm-up drinks every night, but we don't
drink heavily. We don't drink heavily at the moment, because we want to provide the people
with the best of shows. That one is actually very important. So, we have the healthy guys,
and we have Daniel. I wouldn't say he's unhealthy. He's doing a lot of sports as well, but he's like
very into sweets. So, never, never, ever dare you to touch anything that is in here. Yeah.
Okay. So, he counts. Like, you see, that is like a mix of sweets. Who ate my Snickers? Yeah, if I would do
this, just take it away, I can tell you he's gonna notice. And you would hear that sound from above, like
and he's gonna investigate who has taken it. I don't even know, like, yeah, the coffee
machine is pretty important for our crew guys, because they are usually waking up way earlier
than we do. And the first thing that they do, because you can smell, is like getting some coffee,
like the early morning coffee. Exactly. We have some protein snacks over there that were given to
us. People noticed that we like healthy stuff and protein-filled stuff, so they gave it to us.
Some are very, very good. Some are not. Some are not that good, to be honest. Sorry.
But definitely a good snack for in between the meals. And this one is gonna be very
important in the future, because this thing is actually taking place in a music video. In a new
music video. So, we can't talk about that right now, but there's something very, very important in it.
We can't even show it. And for the people who don't know, maybe that's actually interesting, because
part of the kitchen is the toilet. Sounds funny? And he's watching you, man. He's watching you all
the time. So, the thing is, you are allowed to pee in here. Never poop. Don't do it. Yeah. Not on the
tour bus. This is actually one of the rules that you have to follow. Or he's gonna be very mad.
I mean, we have to be more specific about that. In case you have to poop and you can't help
yourself and you go to that toilet and use it poop-wise, you have to help put it down with your
thumb. Wow. Never done it? No. Usually you can actually like take it back and just pull it over.
Or like take a fork and like... Okay, yeah. Cool, cool, cool. Trust me. I'm really being honest with you.
So, that's pretty much it. Oh, we missed the microwave. Oh, the microwave. Can you remember
the times when Bolo brought a sandwich toaster? The whole bus smelled like good sandwiches. He's the
best sandwich maker. And I wanted to stay healthy, but I couldn't help myself. Like every *******
night was the same thing. He was like doing it for every single one of us. He was so into it. And you
kind of get invent... You try to invent new stuff when there are like, for example, sharp cheddar,
popcorn, sea salt, caramel. And a banana. Just put it on. You never know if it tastes good. Yeah. You get
get crazy with food when you're on a tour bus. So, why don't we just go upstairs? There's a lot more
to see, I hope. Hopefully. Watch your head. So, talking about a second floor. Oh, never film
from downstairs. You look better like this, you know. We have to crawl on the ground. This is
actually our favorite place because we are totally in love with privacy. Because this is something
that you don't have on tour, honestly. So, whenever you are going to your bunk or into the lounge,
this is actually like your me time. So, yeah. It's nothing special, but it's still so cool to
like be able to have your own bed on tour like every night. So, yeah. It's a very unwritten rule
in a tour bus. And you see, the U.S. tour buses can't be too high because you have laws here. In
Europe, they would be a little bit higher even. And I'm tall, but for me it's no problem. I can't
really stand here, which sucks. But it's actually good to have two floors because, as Nico said,
you sleep here, you have a different section on the bus. So, there's the door you can close.
You see all those bunks. And it's pretty tidied up. Someone knew that you were coming.
Our bus driver, he's the nicest guy. He's always taking care of us. He's actually
making our beds when we are going into the venue, stuff like that. Like, cleaning up everything.
So, we have the law on a tour bus. Never poop. And then there's a second rule that you have to follow.
But it's pretty tidied up. The second rule is never, ever dare to touch the socks on the ground
in a tour bus. Might be crispy. Might be crispy. So, don't do that. I see it's everything tidied
up right now. We have two buses on this tour. This bus is basically band and crew. That means
all sound guys in here. The photographer, the media guy. So, I would say band and crew.
And the rest of the crew is taking place in the other bus. But there's another very important
thing that we actually didn't tell you. We all have our bunks. So, whenever somebody
would dare to sleep in the upper bunk on the left-hand side... That's gonna be a fight.
Because this is my bunk. Kevin is always right under me. Under Nico. Then, we can go if you want
to. We have not different sections for crew and band. We are all the same. We knew each other
for years. We're friends. So, there's some of us everywhere. But let us take you... From time to
time, there's actually... We have some arguments because the storage rooms are... It's not much.
So, from time to time, it's like, where the **** can I put my bag? We bring too many dresses with
us, you know? And too many shoes. It's always a burden. So, here we have Frank. This is Daniel
Klosek. We have Bolo, our sound guy. Pascal. It's so tidied up. I was very excited to see the bus.
Christian's place. Our media guy. Daniel Hannes, our guitarist. That's Kevin's place.
And this is my place right here. And Nico cut a hole into his madras, so that I can reach...
Just to say hello every night. Yeah, we were reaching hands and stuff, like shaking and
whatever you might imagine. But it's very cool because you... Oh, there was someone in there.
No, I'm kidding. No, just my stuff. Another very important thing. That's my gaming laptop.
I wouldn't leave my home without it. Oh, yeah. Right now, the 30th time Dark Souls 1.
Yeah, gaming is a good thing to do when you have time and you don't want to have the music around
you. Because on tour, music is everywhere, literally. And sometimes you need something
else. So gaming is our way to just relax, you know. We love that. Either on the bus,
either in the green room or in a hotel room maybe. So let's go to the lounge. Yeah, this is actually
like something that I don't see much. I'm never in this room, except I use the trash bin over there.
But usually this is Chris's place, our drum tech. He's sitting here after his work is done
for the whole day and night. Like this? Watching anime. And you can hear over there like all the
time. He loves anime. He loves anime. He has a counter on his app, on his mobile. He's counting
1,300 and animes that he has watched. Like complete series. It's not only one season. It's
crazy how many days and yeah. But to be honest, this is a good place because there's so many
people on this bus. You have to have like your places. And I don't want to, like we can mix up,
but usually everybody has its place. I'm also sitting there. Like my stuff is already there.
You are actually more in this room than in your bunk. Absolutely. I love to be here because I
have a little addiction to blow dryers. I love warm air and everybody, like everybody gets used
to it, I would say. No. Please. But when I'm here, I sometimes just switch on the blow dryer and give
me some warm air and I love to just relax here. And also when you're on a tour bus, sometimes you
don't have much light. Of course we have windows, but during the day when we have day drives,
you don't get to see a lot of the countryside that you're traveling through. And these
seats are so cool because we've been going through the mountains of Salt Lake City, for example.
We saw like the whole surrounding of red rocks, you know. We saw a lot of cool
countrysides and roads here and it's absolutely relaxing to sit here and just wait to arrive.
I'd rather lie in my bunk watching movies than serious, I can tell you.
The thing is, I don't want to talk. Whenever I know somebody's sitting here, I'm like,
oh no, I just want to be on my own. So I'd rather stay right there watching my movies and stuff and
just leave that bungalow there when I need to pee. Because the thing is, when you're on tour,
you have to socialize the whole day, like everywhere. You have to talk to so many people.
So whenever I have the chance to be on my own, I take it.
I don't even want to say that it's gotten worse, but before we started the band, it was more like
an average of socializing and being on your own. It was centered.
And now that we are on tour, we're together with so many different people, we meet so many people,
we talk a lot and we love that. But that makes us want a little bit more private space when
we're not socializing. It actually kills your social batteries from time to time.
So this is actually like taking care of ourselves in the best way we can do it.
Plus, that's something that you actually need to know. It's not just touring around. I see this guy
more than I see my own wife. We are working together when we're not on tour from Monday to
Friday. And when we're not working, we're on tour. But the more you tour together, the deeper your
relationship gets, the more you know each other. It's like gears that work together very well.
Daniel Klosek, for example, he's not a morning person. It's just an example. He's not the typical
morning person. He's more like, come on, don't talk to me, leave me alone. I need my food,
my coffee. Just leave me for half an hour and then I'm ready to talk. You know that. So I would never
go to him in the first five minutes after waking up and talk to him. I'm a total
morning person. I would never spread good mood in the morning to anybody. Hey guys, it's four
in the morning. We have to get up to get to the airport. Are you ready? He's one of those guys,
when he's waking up, he's awake. Usually you're waking up,
God, no. You're going out of your bunk, like getting dressed. He's like,
let's go. Yeah, that's pretty much me. But we know how to respect each other. And yeah,
this area, we can finish our little tour. This area, again, has a touchscreen in German.
Maybe you want to see the driver's place. A touchscreen where we can control some lights.
I don't even know how to, but you can do ambient lights and stuff. We also have a TV
with a PS5. That is never used. Yeah, we never used it, but it's there. It's good to
know that there is a PS5. So there's a little fridge again, some energy. Oh, nice. Yeah, cool.
And that is pretty much it. A lot of storage,
drawers. Yeah, usually our shoes are in there. Downstairs, we are putting like a lot of drinks
in there. And then we just have like the driver's place down there. But it's just,
yeah, that's how we spend our time on the tour bus on tour. So yeah, dude, thanks for coming over.
And take a look at our home. And I'm very happy that you didn't see anything embarrassing.
So we tell you where you will. Fortunately, nobody's anywhere. Okay. So yeah, guys,
if you want to see or hear more of us, there's actually an album coming up on 7th of August.
So it's called Tanzneid. It's a German word put together, dance envy. So we're very happy
to present it to you soon. And thanks for visiting our tour bus. And now we need some privacy,
social batteries. Yeah, close the door, please. Thank you. Bye.
