Blue Jays have made multiple signings, so while we all patiently wait for the regular season
to get back underway following the All-Star break, the Jays have made a few interesting
moves. We'll break that down and discuss what it means going forward, but not only that,
we have some interesting tidbits from the All-Star game that has fans fired up,
as well as the starting rotation following the break. It's been leaked by John Steiner.
Time to go over today for you, too. A quick reminder, hit that subscribe button.
You guys have been a beast of a support, and let's dive right into it. So obviously,
the MLB draft was just a little bit ago, and the Blue Jays, after the draft, and I, of course,
covered the draft here on the channel, they have signed four pitchers after the draft,
which could hint at their trade deadline strategy. So we're going to break down the moves, discuss
kind of what it means going forward here, because all of a sudden now, they have a lot,
a lot of players newly added to their team, and of course, the deadline is August 3rd,
so a couple weeks away. They're probably going to be buyers bearing a catastrophe.
We'll have a video on that tomorrow, but I wanted to dive into some of the
UDFA's undrafted free agents. So the Jays obviously made a ton of draft picks,
but they also made several signings, and you can see here with the draft only at 20 rounds now,
as opposed to, I think, 30 plus in the past, that leaves lots of senior age college arms that are
free to sign with any club, and the Blue Jays decided to pounce on a few of those. So they
have signed Reece Bassinger, Dax, Dath, I believe, or Dath, Devin King, and Gavin Seabold.
They were signed in the aftermath of the draft, and let's dive into them kind of one by one,
because you look at the team, and before we do, I had to know, the pipeline's looking really,
really solid, right? Like the draft was really good. They got to steal the draft. Many analysts
had the Jays graded out as like A plus, as an A plus draft because of the quote unquote steals
they were able to get, but let's dive into it here. So you can see here, I'll start with
Reece Bassinger. So he's a 6'1", 185 pound right hander, played at the University of West Virginia,
and last year, a 4-3 record, 31 games, 3.3 ERA, ERA, sorry, 1.18 whip, like really solid,
and these are guys that I fully trust the Jays scouting department now, because especially
given like the transparency that they've had throughout the draft, and now being able to grab
Cole Carlin and all accounts to steal the draft, I'm very, very happy about it,
and to be able to grab some, again, these are low, really no risk, high reward moves, because
there's been plenty on draft for guys who have went on to have good careers, and especially for
the Jays, where they've been good at developing specifically pitchers over the past few years,
it is very intriguing. So Reece Bassinger, a 3.30 ERA, which isn't bad by any means,
and let's dive into Daxson Dath. So he saw limited action this past season at LSU,
but he had a very strong 2025 campaign, and this is where I think, I think this is an absolute
steal. So obviously, underwent, I believe, injuries and limited, you know, in a limited
season last year, back in 2025, eight and one with a 2.99 ERA, and for him to go undrafted,
for the Jays to be able to get somebody who just a year ago had an incredible, incredible season
with a 1.16 whip, 13 starts, this is a starter that was really, really solid. I don't know,
I think it was a very, very good pick up, I guess, in the signing department, and again,
I'm not super familiar with all these guys, I'm sure, I mean, if you guys are, comment down below,
but a lot of these names I had to kind of research a little bit, and the upside in a lot
of these guys is pretty exciting, given the fact that you got them for nothing, so keep an eye out
on him, and at the end of the video, comment who you're most excited about between everybody,
but let's move on now to King, so he played for University, you'll notice, it's all pitchers,
played for University of California, San Diego, and during three years,
Triton's King pitched to a 5.21 ERA, this past season, a lot better with a 3.48 ERA,
so this is somebody who, again, they're, at this point, they're probably trying to get more of
projects in some regards, because they do trust their, you know, obviously their MLB team,
scouting department, development department, so getting someone who struggled a little bit
throughout his three seasons, but is coming off his best year, I'm pretty encouraged by it,
and finally, we have Sebald, he hails from the University of Indiana, the right-hander,
posted a 4.67 ERA, and then spent some time as a reliever as well, so comment down below what
your thoughts are on these names, is there anyone that really stands out to you guys,
because at this point, it's interesting to see, and this article dives into how it could alter
their trade deadline plans, because perhaps another shopping street is coming for Ross Atkins,
talking about potentially including guys like Johnny King, Nolan Perry, some of their top
prospects who have dominated, by the way, I mean, Nolan Perry's been the biggest riser of the year
for the Jays, Johnny King's been extremely good, JoJo Parker's been incredible, and if you're going
to make a big swing for a trade, I mean, we talked about Tarek Skubal, a lot of guys, the Jays do
have the prospect capital to do so, the question then becomes, do you want to give it up, and I'm
not by any means saying their undrafted free agents are going to replace Johnny King and Nolan Perry,
but the article seems to be hinting at they're going, stocking their cupboards up, in case that
is the case, the Blue Jays don't have a great track record of developing pitchers, which is
kind of true, I mean, you look at Nate Pearson at the same time, Trey Savage, some other guys,
they're good at fixing existing pitchers, and I do think their track record in general of developing
prospects, I trust a lot more now than I used to, but I say, if you trust your development staff,
I think you've got plenty of pieces of them around the board, then it wouldn't be a surprise to see
I can ship out an arm or two, it's gotten a lot better as of late, Johnny King's developed really
good, guys like Gage Stanaford, I mean, JoJo Parker's really good so far, I mean, Alec Manoa
was a developmental success, even though, you know, crashed, so in the past, sure, the development,
you know, it wasn't great, but the Jays are getting tons of MLB caliber players from their
prospect pool, Brenna Valenzuela, I mean, Will Wagner kind of was a prospect, ended up being
really good, like, just a lot of them, but again, for pitchers, it is a little bit more intriguing,
but comment down below your thoughts on all this, one thing I do want to note is JoJo Parker,
in the Nike Futures game, ripped a 101 mile per hour double, looked like a home run, basically was
on the first pitch, he is, or, it was not the first pitch, he ripped, sorry, a double, it wasn't 101
miles per hour after that, it was a double off a pitch that was 101 miles per hour, which is
even more impressive, he has been sneaky, by the way, video coming on it, insane, insane,
and through June 18th, obviously, this was a month ago, but I found this tweet, he was running some
insane contact rates, incredible player, 19 years old, people are comparing him to Vladimir Guerrero
Jr., in the sense of like, one of the top hype prospects since then, so, I don't know, it's
exciting stuff, comment down below, but speaking of exciting, let's dive into the All-Star game a
little bit, so Dylan Cease came out, and was insane, we had Dylan Cease, we had the Ernie Clement
show, we had a lot of guys, not really, actually, we had a few All-Stars, but Ernie Clement had an
insane play, go check out the highlights of the All-Stars if you haven't already, but he spoke out,
he basically had a running Derek Jeter jump throw to get Andy Pajes out, the guy who caught the
World Series ball to save the Dodgers, and ultimately winning the World Series, Ernie
Clement said, I had to get him back for what he did to us in the World Series, it's all love,
I have a lot of admiration for the way he plays the game, Pajes just seems like it's such a good
dude, and he made one of the best plays in postseason history, you know, it stings, but he's
right, like, I'm, it brings back bad memories every single time I talk about it, but I just
wanted to take this minute to, Ernie Clement's such a good guy, and you can see here, if you love the
game enough, you'll never give up on your dreams, and this was an article basically talking about
how Ernie Clement went from DFA-ed by the athletics of all teams to an All-Star, basically, with the
Blue Jays, or an All-Star caliber, or an All-Star utility guy, obviously All-Star in yesterday's
game, so, he said, I got told I wasn't good enough 100 times, and I didn't believe anybody, kept
blogging, shout out Ernie Clement, he's an absolute beast, Dylan Cease, by the way, was an absolute
beast in yesterday's game, he was up to 98 miles an hour, struck out the side, I believe, in the
first inning, and, obviously, struck out Swarbrer, Soto, and CJ Abrams, so, dominant stuff from him, he
said, I always want to strike guys out before the game, I was kind of pondering, do I start out with
the changeup, I thought it'd be funny, but Justin Verlaine talked me out of it, so we started off
with the heater, and I'm glad we did, vibes are high, the team has to bounce back, though, from
their atrocious performance, I think there wasn't a possible better time for an All-Star break than
right now, given the way the Jays have been playing, but comment down below your thoughts
on the moves, heading out of the All-Star break, the running rotation of Spencer
Miles, Shane Bieber, Treya Savage, Dylan Cease, and Kevin Gossman, crucial here to have Spencer
Miles actually get a chance to break the rotation, it's the right move, and hopefully, it can take
care of business. Thank you guys for watching.
