This Tiny Cabin Has No Rooms Yet Feels Surprisingly Huge

Jaguatirica Cabin is a compact 700-square-foot retreat surrounded by more than 7.5 million square feet of Atlantic Forest.

Instead of dividing its small interior into separate rooms, the cabin brings the bedroom, living area, and kitchen together in one open space. Large sliding doors connect this single room to the deck, allowing the forest to visually extend the cabin far beyond its walls.

A deep eight-foot roof overhang protects the interior from sun and rain, while the lightweight steel frame, wood-frame walls, and thermoplastic roof reduce the impact of construction on the natural slope.

Above the outdoor bathtub, a circular opening in the roof frames the sky, sunlight, rain, and surrounding trees.

Jaguatirica Cabin shows how a very small building can feel much larger when the landscape becomes part of the space.
