Because Connor versus Max was a done.
The fight sucked, okay?
There's no other way around it.
The lead-up, the hype, the build-up.
At least nobody paid $79.99 for it, okay?
The card itself was tremendous.
There were eight first-round stoppages
throughout that entire card.
Patty Pimlett had an incredible submission
in the first round after an unbelievable walkout.
The whole card delivered for International Fight Week
as to what you would like.
And the folks who were involved with the UFC
are very much trying to push that narrative.
Because that is a gigantic deal.
Because what happened in the main event
ended Conor McGregor's career
as a premier, top-of-the-bill UFC fighter.
His MMA career ended on Saturday night.
With another injury of catastrophic nature.
We're arguing, is it an ACL?
Is it a meniscus?
What is it?
What was the knee injury for Conor McGregor?
It doesn't matter what the injury is.
He has to have surgery.
And the surgery will take him out
four, five, six, seven months.
Whatever it might be.
And during those months,
Conor, who has openly said that he is going through hell,
you have to be really concerned about his future.
Quote, I am beyond dark here, it's hell.
This is a guy who has dealt with drug abuse
and alcohol abuse and all sorts of demons.
And he goes down 69 seconds, blows out the knee.
And the last two times we've seen Conor McGregor
in the octagon against Dustin Poirier
and Max Holloway in back-to-back fights, 21 and 26.
Conor McGregor has left the octagon
with a serious leg injury.
It's a different leg this time.
But did he fight on a bad leg?
Did he go into the event already hurt?
I don't know.
I don't think it matters, to be quite honest.
I know there's a lot of people
who are trying to do the conspiracy theorist thing.
And I'll put it up here in a second
about all the different conspiracy theories
that are running around as to whether or not
Conor McGregor was healthy entering the octagon
on Saturday night.
And was there some type of fix in that Conor,
because of the big bet,
there was a $900,000 bet that got reported
that came in right before on Max Holloway.
There's this theory out there
that because the number at certain books
closed as high as minus 390,
I thought it was 290.
It actually was 390 as to some books
in terms of all the money that came in late for Max,
late from the pros.
And my problem with all of this,
my problem with that is that people aren't paying attention
to how gambling works,
or they don't know how gambling works.
So here's the issue.
The issue is if you were a professional gambler
and you wanted to bet on Max,
why were you betting early?
There was no point in betting early.
The public was going to bet Conor
like the fight had already gone off
and the McGregor money just kept on coming in
and coming in and coming in.
So as the McGregor money came in,
you just watched that number come down.
You wanted to get the lowest number as possible on Max.
And it was at some point down to 210
or $2 at certain books.
And then all the money came in on Max.
And as it poured in,
the number went up, went up, went up, went up
all the way up to minus 390.
That is basically what happens
when you're going to see money on a favorite
because the professionals were waiting for Max.
They were waiting for that number on Holloway.
And once they got it, then they hammered it.
And they hammered it big.
And that drove the price straight through the roof
before the fight went off.
There's no conspiracy with that.
That is not somebody new.
There's none of that, okay?
Nobody knew.
It's just that betting on a guy
after five years off with a serious leg injury
was a stupid bet.
I said it all week.
I wanted Conor to win.
I wanted to believe.
You heard Joe Rogan during the broadcast say,
I want to believe.
I want to believe in aliens and Conor McGregor.
I want to believe this guy actually can do something special again
in the Octagon.
The fight world is better.
The UFC is better when Conor is out there doing his thing.
But betting on Conor was a dumb idea.
That was ridiculous.
Five years out of the Octagon,
the guy was not the same fighter.
His pre-fight body language was awful.
