Listen, the Canes team is one of the best teams in the country.
We know that.
They're talented.
We know they're talented.
They've played absolutely nobody and beaten absolutely nobody.
And it was a travesty that they had to go to double overtime
and get every single benefit
of the doubt call at home to beat a really bad Florida State team.
And I know it's a rivalry game, but it
was a rivalry game that I thought they were going
to go out there and beat the crap out of them.
That said, you know,
they're celebrating the 2001 National Championship team today, which
emotion, et cetera, at home as your number one in the country.
It doesn't have the same feel as it did back
at the Orange Bowl back in the day,
but they've covered 8 out of 10.
They should pound the Pittsburgh team.
I don't know what to make of this team because they should have lost.
They haven't played anybody.
And I want to ask you this, Kevin.
You and I have discussed this every week.
There's a spot out there where Mario Cristobal
is going to lose them a game.
It almost happened last week.
But now that they survived that one, where is that spot?
Because that was the only close game, and this would have been the,
you said it, it's going to happen.
So where is that spot?
I'm actually really, really, I'm really glad you asked.
Because my honest answer is it was last week.
That was the game.
That was the loss.
That was the game that they absolutely, if they were going to lose,
that was it.
And I know people will think to themselves,
but it's not like they were you know down a hundred
or anything you know like that in the game
this was a situation where they were down
in the fourth quarter florida state got the football back
in the fourth quarter right yeah um got
the football back in the fourth quarter with the lead
thank you very much and yet when it got to overtime i
and it was a shame for FSU they didn't
get the ball first because basically what they needed
was the opportunity to to do the will
style they needed miami to get it first score it would have kicked
the extra point it would have
and then for florida state to score and then just go for two
and that would so i now as someone who
played in miami one total under even i still think
that they'll lose to Notre Dame i maybe i'm wrong
like i'm laying i'm laying it with with miami today here dave
because i basically feel like
miami when i say they lost that game i
do not mean michigan western michigan what i mean is
that was the game i don't know how i don't know
how you feel about it they escaped they escaped
the game that you all thought mario would give it away
and and and lose to a team that's not that
good and it was the spot it was the rivalry game right there
at at miami and and they won it now
you still got north carolina
on the schedule you still have other teams that can beat them not
named Notre Dame so there are options for them to pull a Mario
but maybe you're right maybe they got
over that hump and it's going to come down
to again Miami versus Notre Dame should be a game
for all the marbles it no longer is because both teams
are going to make the playoff it is we're
not going to go back to that conversation you
still got Virginia Tech on the schedule you still
got Boston College on the schedule the one thing
that bothered me the most about this game last
week was the defense like you shouldn't allow 35 points
to anybody on this schedule you're supposed
to have a top 10 defense in the country the offense
no one's surprised they scored 43 points
but how are you allowing
I understand some of it was in overtime how are you allowing this
many points to a Florida State team that has
not done this this year if you're Dames not
Virginia so that's what disappointed me
and you know i came out of that game thinking
what is the Notre Dame line that's what i want to bet
