Uh okay ready. Say hands. Hands. Thank you chefs. No problem. What do we call it chef?
Uh it's fried brussels sprouts with mint. Call it family meal. I read your book. You read my book?
Yes I did. You did? Yes I did. What did you think? I thought um incredible. Look at this.
That story got me through. Got me through. Thank you. I'm glad my story was able to get you through
because I had to live it. Not in I didn't necessarily like it all that much but I'm
glad I went through everything I went through to get me here today. That's right. Now yesterday
I heard you got to announce the Emmy. I did. You did? How was that for you? It was so much fun. I
had Jeff Hiller who I just adore but I was having a heart attack. You were stressed out? I had a few
of them yeah. Yeah I know how you feel because years back I got to announce the names for the
Oscars and I was terrified that I would mess up people's names and I did. You did? I did. I
demolished some people's names because I can't read that good but I tried my best. You did it
though. I did. I did. They knew who they were. They knew who they were. I'm like I said the name
of the movie right. That was right. You know who you are. Yeah yeah yeah. Um so you were nervous?
Were you nervous? You were super nervous? Yeah yeah. What do you do to like calm yourself? Um
yeah I can't tell that part. Tell me later because I know what you was doing backstage.
Yeah you hook me up with a tequila.
How's your cooking now? Did you learn how to like cook a lot of stuff because of the show or?
I I learn things but it's not like you're consistent. I'm not consistently doing it.
I'll be honest. Um now I know how to do more things but I don't do it because
I just now I I second guess everything. I've learned so many techniques. I've I've learned
how things can go wrong or if I'm taking shortcuts. Now I doubt everything. So now I just make my
things that I always made. My you know rice and beans, the meats, like my home. I don't cook that
much so I like my comfort food when I do cook the classics. But you do eat food.
Especially after the. I cook everything. I cook all the time and I grow my own flowers.
I tried to grow my own flowers once but this was in the old apartment and the mice ate them. Okay
you know what I got some techniques I'm gonna share with you after the show because I'm I have
a green thumb and then I also got some green in the back. I'm learning like this in my life new
beginnings. That part that part now your real husband plays your husband on the show as well.
Yes yes. How did how did that go about? Like well they asked when they were fans of his from Dexter
and everything. Yeah. But David and I met man 35 years ago auditioned for the same theater company
so we have been acting for years together and he's just he's my rock. I love that. I love him.
I love that. Don't give up mama. Don't lower your stanzas. Yeah my standards are high that's
right because I have lots of options but the standards my standards is high. They should be.
Yeah. Look at you. That part. The STD test off of Amazon. I got the test off Amazon and I was like
you gotta take this test and then the results gotta come back to my email and then I will let
you know what it say and then then we can play. And he was like well that's crazy. You crazy as
hell. I said I'm rich. That's right. Whatever I say go. What he wanted you to order it from some
luxury. He wanted he wanted he thought he thought he could just get up in the house with no no coat
on. You got me messed up. No no. Thank you. Next. Next. Swipe. Not gonna have me out here itching
and scratching. No rusty trombones. We don't do that. No. Now you're in uh you're also in the new
Spider-Man uh brand new day movie. I mean how did this come about? Did you have to audition? Did you
have what how did it happen? You didn't have to audition. No. Ain't that doesn't that feel good? Yeah. I got a call from uh they
were like oh the director Dustin Daniels wants to would like to you know have a zoom audition
just get to know you. I was like sure I was in Chicago and we zoomed and we just laughed. I don't
know it was I was like there's no way in hell. Like I don't know anything about the multiverses
or what have you. You don't? And now I do. Studied quick and then uh and then we laughed a lot and
and next thing months later. Months later. I was on set. I got the call. So you had a few months to study
up on it and what kind of character do you play in it? I play a detective. Oh okay. And uh there
ain't a whole lot I could say. Okay. However you know I got an intense kind of connection with
Spider-Man and uh I could say this because this was on YouTube and Tom talked about it.
So take it up with him. Right. But um uh there was a scene where it's like really intense and
he's supposed to be crying and I bring his hands down and or I hold his hands like get a grip and
the director was like Tom you know bring remember to bring your hands down and he got the note a few
times and then he finally he said I can't Liza's hands are too strong. Get a grip. Get a grip. Yeah.
It's new. Spider-Man. Whatever. Well I am so happy that you came here today and I look forward to
getting to know you even more. Even more. Thank you for being here. Also uh all episodes of The
Bear are on Hulu and Spider-Man Brand New Day opens in theaters July 31st. We'll be right back.
