And welcome back to Fox 29 Behind the News. Yeah, what's for dinner on a Friday? We love this
segment. The whole newsroom loves this segment because everybody eats good. So today we have
Victoria's Kitchen. Hi, Victoria. I'm going to give you the microphone here, Victoria. Welcome
in to, is this family? Yes, it is. Yes, my daughter Janaya, who's been with me from the very start.
There's no way you're her mother. Yeah, absolutely. You're not old enough for that. Absolutely. And
this is my grandson Zaheem. Oh, wonderful. So it's a family affair. I love that. Yes.
Victoria's Kitchen, where are you located? We're on the 7300 block of Oguns Avenue. Okay. And we're
in Sicklerville, New Jersey. And it looks like you specialize in some barbecue and it is the season
for that. It's great. So let's let's start down the road here. Let's start on this side, Shane.
So I mean, looks like we got some good pasta salad. Yeah, so right here, this is our seafood
salad. And this is what we became famous for at first. And our potato salad, which is absolutely
amazing. It's a smashed potato salad. This is a black eyed peas salad, which is something that
we just started recently, a couple years ago. And this is our beef ribs. They're the planking cut.
Okay, and this is our barbecue chicken. And this is our smoked pork ribs.
Oh, yeah, just to top it all off. Yes. You know, I'm a big believer in
when you cook something with love. Absolutely. It tastes better. Absolutely. I could tell this
was cooked with love. Absolutely. Food, love and happiness. That's our motto. Well,
because you're together in the kitchen. You got your family. It's my dream to one day have a job
with my children. Okay. We're, you know, we're working, but we're together. Yeah,
that's really cool. Absolutely. Well, we fight a little bit. It's over. It's over. It's over.
That's great. How long you been in business? 17 years. Wow. Yeah. So when these well,
he's 21. Okay. He was a little guy. Yes. Yes. Yeah. So how much longer you want to do it?
Oh, my goodness. We're going to do it for generations. We're not going to stop forever.
Yeah, absolutely. What'd you say? Forever. Forever. And the name can never change. It's
always going to be victorious, even when you're not here. Even when I'm not here,
Victoria's Kitchen. Well, I mean, guys, there's food. I'm just telling our co-workers out here.
So yeah, I mean, which one should I try? Oh, come on. Yeah, let's make your plate.
Shane said the rib. So what's your smoking secret here? Like, how do you smoke them?
So we have a shout out to our guy, our rib guy, Ron. He is the pit master. Oh, I love that. You
got to have a pit master. Yes, he's a pit master. We have a big, huge pit grill out in our back of
our restaurant. And he puts them on like two o'clock in the morning and they cook all day,
all night, low and slow. He has a special seasoning and it has brown sugar in it. And
some of those is sweet. It's sticky. It's a little spicy. It's succulent. It's all those things. So
absolutely. Legs. You want to know if I like? Breast, legs, what? Whatever you got. And then,
now, what did you say this was? That's a beef short rib. Beef short rib, yeah. This stuff melts
in your mouth too, doesn't it? Yeah. Now, does your pit master do all of this or just the ribs?
He does the pork ribs and he does the beef ribs, but he does the pork ribs in the pit.
Now, is he family too? He is, yes. Everybody's family when you're there. Even if you're not
family, you become family at the restaurant. So, yeah. Now, what is not pictured here that
you have at Victoria's Kitchen? Sure. So, we're really modern soul food. So, we have
fried chicken, which is our top seller. Thank you. Thank you very much. Yeah,
you got to get some sides. Yes, please. Absolutely. So, our top seller is fried chicken. We do
collard greens. We do macaroni and cheese, those things, right? And just because it's soul food,
we actually have, it's modern soul food also. So, we do things just a tad bit different than we did
when things were, you know, when our ancestors or people way back did them. And how's business
these days? Oh my goodness, business is good. Yes, business is good. It's still banging. Yeah,
you got a lot of people in the neighborhood, but also people who come from afar. Absolutely. We
got people that come from afar, people that's in the neighborhood. I'm from the neighborhood that
we originally started at O'Gones Avenue. I'm from right around the corner from there. So,
a lot of people know about us. Grew up there and now you're... Yes, yes. And now I came back home.
Yeah. Yeah. Our director in the control room is asking for us to bring her plate.
Okay, we got it. So, Carly, I've got... You know what, Carly? Sorry, but...
It's gone. It's gone.
Yeah. Okay. Now, look at this. Now we've got a line over here. Now,
let's ask here. What are you eyeballing over here? The ribs. The ribs? Yeah. Yeah. Well,
you know what? I can't... Ribs is not something I can snack on and host a show at the same time,
but you can. Yeah, it looks like it's going to be a good Friday today. No doubt about it. What
are you eyeballing? Everything. Everything. I know I got a little bit of everything. I mean,
the cornbread is always just that final touch right there. Yeah. The ribs. I know. I know. I'm
about to try some as well. So, Victorious Kitchen, we want to thank you for coming in. Give us your
address once again. It's 7304 O'Gones Avenue and 250 East Sickleville Road in Sickleville.
And, you know, you come in, you're greeted by this smiling face. It's a wonderful place. So,
thank you all for coming in. Check out Victorious Kitchen. Long time spot
there on O'Gones Ave. All right. It is. It's a staple. And look at this line of hungry people.
Look at this. All right. We'll be right back here on Fox 29 Behind the News. Get Carly a plate.
Get Mike Greenwich a plate. No eating in the control room though.
