St. John’s Newfoundland Travel Guide, Canada | Colourful Streets, Coastal Views & Hidden History! On Episode 11 of our RVing to Newfoundland & Labrador series, we explore St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada — a colourful and historic coastal city full of character. This travel guide highlights some of the best things to do, from scenic viewpoints and historic sites (like Cape Spear and Signal Hill), incredibly colorful neighbourhoods (including Jellybean Row, Quidi Vidi and the Battery) and unique local experiences (Like the Number 2 Iron Mine on Bell Island). What you'll see: We start in Quidi Vidi, one of the most charming neighbourhoods in St. John’s, where we tour the picturesque harbour and stop in for a sample at Quidi Vidi Brewery. From there, we wander through the vibrant streets of Jelly Bean Row and the hillside homes of The Battery, both perfect examples of St. John’s famous character and colour. Next, we visit two incredible National Historic Sites: Signal Hill National Historic Site, where Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal, and Cape Spear National Historic Site, North America’s most easterly point (except Greenland, of course). We also take a short ferry ride to Bell Island, home to one of Newfoundland’s most fascinating attractions — the underground No. 2 Iron Ore Mine Tour. It’s a journey back in time through tunnels carved deep beneath the ocean. Museums and Art Galleries: Before wrapping up, we stop at The Rooms, St. John’s impressive museum and art gallery that brings Newfoundland’s culture, history, and art together in one incredible space. Where to camp: And for our fellow RVers and campers, we include a look around Pippy Park Campground, our base for exploring St. John’s and the surrounding area. If you’re planning a trip to Newfoundland and Labrador, we hope this episode helps you discover some must-see stops — and inspires you to explore this beautiful part of Canada.
