This is the Blackbird Tiny House.
It's a brand new cabin here in Hocking Hills.
We're gonna be touring it today.
I'm gonna be showing you the interior design, the layout,
something we've never seen on this channel before.
It's about 500 square foot of living space.
And I'm also here with the owners
and the mastermind behind all of this.
Daryl Costin Jr., owner of BeHome.
You just finished building this.
Tell us a little bit about this tiny house.
So we just had our first guest stay in literally yesterday.
So it's perfect timing here.
We've got several properties
throughout the area of Hocking Hills,
some big, some medium size.
And we wanted to kind of do more of an official tiny home,
but with our little twist to it.
Like I asked for the biggest windows possible.
I wanted to cover the whole front with windows.
And I love kind of the tall 10 foot ceilings
to kind of give it more space,
make it feel bigger than like a tiny home.
Let's begin the tour of the tiny house.
We are secluded back here in the woods, the forest.
I don't hear anything, totally private.
And of course we have the tiny house here behind me.
It's about 500 square feet of living space.
You can see it's black on the exterior.
We have this deck.
It's also elevated.
So this enables us to have some seating
underneath the deck, which is pretty cool.
And of course they graveled it all,
which is nice, nice landscaping.
And it just looks really beautiful.
There's large windows up there.
We'll continue on to the property though.
So you get some outdoor amenities if you are staying here.
We have a fire pit over here on my right side behind me.
And of course the increasingly popular sauna.
They have the barrel sauna here behind me.
And then right next to that is the hot tub.
So we have a beautiful outdoor space here to enjoy.
And then we can walk up onto the deck space.
Oh, there's also a grill over here.
We can walk up onto this deck
and there's more options out here.
I love how there's an elevated deck space
tied right in with this tiny house.
We have some seating here.
We can sit here, enjoy the views.
We get string lights, everything.
We can view it all from here.
And then of course the front door is right here.
So walking inside, you will see this is pretty spacious
for a tiny house.
It's about 500 square feet of living space,
but you can immediately tell the ceilings are tall.
This is 12 foot wide.
When the owner was going with the builders
and figuring out how to build this place,
there were some non-negotiables
included in this tiny house.
So this is a totally custom build.
Tell me about the design process and the build process
and who was involved with that and how that all worked out.
Matt and Shelly Carter,
they've built all of our properties here
and it literally starts with a photo off the internet.
You know, so I do a lot of searching of like,
hey, I want to find some,
because also we like the whole unique concept,
the unique home concept.
You know, we want to be different.
We think kind of that's where the market's
going to go and stay.
So I'll find some unique property somewhere
and I'll send a picture to them.
And then that kind of starts the process.
And then we start figuring out, okay,
we know what the outside is going to look like.
What about the inside?
Where do we want to kind of fit everything?
And we'll go back and forth
till we find out what we like.
And then they start building it.
It's super simple and easy.
Is that sarcasm?
No, I mean it.
I mean, it's a great, it's an easy process.
Like, you know, so love working with them.
Oh yeah, working with them.
Yeah, I thought you meant building the tiny house
and figuring that out.
Super simple.
No, no, no, no.
I stay out of that.
That I don't get involved in.
That's way out of my pay grade, you know?
So walking inside, we're immediately
in the living room and kitchen space.
This is the open area.
And they went with a black aesthetic,
a black theme in here.
Dark, and I'm curious what your guys' thoughts on that are
because it's pretty rare to see that.
We normally see white, bright spaces,
but they definitely went with the wood and the black theme.
If you're into the moodier aesthetic,
if you're into just a darker, more comforting, I guess,
aesthetic, then this might be the place for you.
Imagine this place when it's snowing
in front of these huge windows
and it's white and black, it'll look so good.
But yes, that brings me to the windows in front of me.
It's illuminating me right now.
Huge picture windows, unobstructed views
of the trees and the scenery around us.
And of course, they have the couch right here in the middle.
Whenever you are sitting here,
you get good views of the nature
and it's just relaxing and comforting.
I know I'm not sitting really in a comfortable manner,
but you can be relaxing here with your partner
and of course, you can watch the TV.
So check this out.
The TV, it can swivel in and out, whatever.
And you can be watching a good show.
We have the dining table over here with the coffee supplies.
So enough room in here for coffee.
Like I said, this is 12 foot wide though.
I think that's one thing that really sets
this tiny house apart because I can be walking
very comfortably around everything.
Normally, the hallway is on one side of a tiny house.
Here, it's in the middle.
And that means this kitchen is kind of split into two.
It's a little bit of a kitchenette.
On this side, we do have the sink, full-size sink,
continuing with that black theme.
And of course, the black refrigerator up above.
We do have wood details behind us, which is nice.
Gives it that warmer tone.
So we have wood and black in here.
And now the other side is the rest of the kitchen.
So we have some countertop space here,
butcher block countertop, black cabinetry,
floating shelves above.
They even leave snacks.
Not every place leaves snacks, but I like when they do.
They got marshmallows here, crackers, some stuff for you.
Always a good gesture if you wanted to come stay here
for yourself.
Of course, we have the microwave,
but you might be wondering,
where am I going to cook something?
Well, don't you fret.
We got storage under here.
And check this out.
We do have a cooktop that you can pull out.
And since this is a tiny house kitchenette,
they just opted for not using space
for a cooktop or an oven.
You can pull it out, cook it up,
and you can cook whatever you want.
So if you're gonna build this place yourself,
you could include an oven over here
or a built-in cooktop as well.
Just some ideas.
Now we do have the hallway in the middle.
So if you come around this way,
what would you expect we walk into?
Well, this is the bathroom space.
Very large.
Let's close this door because behind the door,
there is a washer and dryer in here.
And you can see this bathroom is very spacious.
The tall ceilings continue up in here.
And of course, we have the shower behind me.
So they continued with the black thing.
Black tiling in the shower.
Get nice and clean, whatever you wanna do in the shower.
And then on the other side,
it continues.
Black toilet, which is pretty cool.
And we have the sink and vanity on this side.
I know I'm emphasizing the black aesthetic in here a lot,
but this is just a very spacious bathroom.
Plenty of room to get ready.
And it's nice it's connected to the living room.
And then if we swing around this way,
it's also connected to the bedroom.
So we have one more door if we walk through here.
This is your bedroom space.
The tall ceilings continue.
It's spacious in here.
This is a queen-size bed, actually.
I kinda like that choice a little bit better
because it enables more walking space on both sides.
We have nightstands with nice lighting in here.
With the black walls, this wood accent wall behind the bed,
this warm glow lighting really warms up
the space a little bit.
But whenever you're sitting here,
you can watch a movie right over here on the big screen TV.
Below, we do have some storage.
You could add a closet space in here if you wanted.
You could add your own storage.
There's definitely plenty of room for that.
And of course, we could black out the windows if needed.
And this would be a total movie theater feel
inside of this bedroom.
I think that's one benefit of the black walls.
If you like to watch movies in the dark,
this is the place to do it.
But overall, this is the tiny house,
the living room, the bathroom, the bedroom,
unique floor plan with the hallway down the middle,
the wide footprint, 12-foot, and the tall ceilings.
Okay, so the big question is,
what was the cost to build this tiny house?
So I'll kinda give like ballparks,
but you gotta obviously tear down all the trees,
put in the gravel,
building all this to actually prop it up.
And then we have the sauna and the hot tub
and the furnishing.
So there's a lot that goes into it.
But I would say ballpark is like 250,000.
So that's everything here at the tiny house.
I'm curious what you guys think of this space.
It's brand new,
and we've never really seen a floor plan quite like that.
Now, tiny houses' floor plans are usually pretty simple.
This one had a different take on what this could be.
Curious what your guys' thoughts are.
There are no plans available,
but you could, you know, if you wanna build this,
hope you get inspired for yourself.
Or, you know, of course, you can just come stay here,
check it out yourself, and enjoy Hawking Hills.
And I'll let the owner tell you how to find this place.
We've got, we're on Airbnb.
We're on VRBO.
Thanks, that's it, man.
Appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
