Well, talks between the United States and Iran are continuing, but President Trump is
keeping all options open.
You know he does that, and he means it.
He reportedly spoke with military leaders about possible new military strikes, but the
diplomatic process is also playing out for now.
So as Iran and U.S. are negotiating, Qatar is inside those talks, but the Iranians are
refusing to now meet with American officials directly.
A top U.S. demand is a fully open Strait of Hormuz, and that Iran never possesses a nuclear
weapon.
Iran and Oman now reportedly want to charge tolls on ships passing through the Strait.
Now they don't control it, but they want to monetize it.
The White House says that's not okay.
Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yinks.
Trey.
Harris, good morning.
Amid reports that President Trump is still considering military options against Iran,
he was asked about the state of negotiations and the memorandum of understanding.
Well, I think they've come a long way.
We hit him very hard last week.
I think they're fine.
I think we're going to.
It's the denuclearization of Iran.
It's very simple.
And Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
Special Envoys Kushner and Whitkoff met Tuesday with the prime minister of Qatar in Doha.
The conversations focused on advancing the MOU with Iran that involves keeping the Strait
of Hormuz open and starting discussions on Iran's nuclear program.
Technical talks on the nuclear issue are moving forward today as planned, as traffic continues
to increase in the Strait.
U.S. mediators remain confident the current framework could lead to Iran making serious
nuclear concessions.
The 60-day window was discussed overnight on Fox News when Vice President J.D. Vance
appeared on Laura Ingraham's show.
We have all the cards in negotiation.
We obviously want it to be successful, but even if it's not successful, we've accomplished
the core mission, which is to ensure that the Iranians never have a nuclear weapon.
In other words, it's a win-win outcome for the American people.
We're also tracking developments here in Israel.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz
visited soldiers in the security zone in southern Lebanon.
Netanyahu told the forces they will continue to stay in the buffer zone to prevent attacks
from Hezbollah.
These security zones, this is a change in perception.
It means that we do not allow an army of terrorists to sit on our border, and we keep them away.
This is what you are doing, and we are destroying everything above ground and underground, which
actually serves them as a means of attack against us.
The issue of Lebanon was discussed yesterday in Qatar, we are told, but the focus for the
Trump administration remains on ensuring that the Iranians never have a path to a nuclear
weapon.
Harris?
Trey, real quickly, because I know you look at all of this spherically, including the
politics.
Is it a sign, seeing Netanyahu standing in a demilitarized zone, for lack of a better
term, inside Lebanon, is that a sign that there's some relations that have gone forward
between the leadership of Lebanon, not Hezbollah, Lebanon and Israel?
Absolutely.
Look, there is a pilot program being discussed as part of this framework agreement that was
reached late last week.
It was mediated by the Trump administration directly between the Israeli and Lebanese
governments with two goals, to normalize ties between the two countries and disarm Hezbollah.
And so there is this parallel track that was started by the Trump administration to undermine
the Iranian regime and their largest proxy in the region.
Wow.
Excellent.
Always reporting.
Thank you for taking my question.
Good to see you.
