Prosecutors say a Sherburne man stabbed his father with an arrow on Father's Day.
Boston 25 News reporter Bob Ward live at the courthouse in Framingham where Bob
the suspect's claims he was acting in self-defense and has a complicated
family history. This is a highly unusual case police alleging that a 19 year old
got into a very heated argument with his father and then when things got physical
they allege he twice stabbed his father with a hunting arrow. All of this taking
place on Father's Day. Gavin Blaylock. At Navy District Court 19 year old Gavin
Blaylock is accused of stabbing his father Jerry Clues with a hunting arrow
on Father's Day in the basement of the family's Sherburne home. Blaylock is
charged with assault to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon. He was arraigned on the charges Monday and pleaded not guilty.
At this hearing a prosecutor is seeking to have Blaylock held saying he's too
dangerous to his own father to release. The prosecutor said until three weeks
ago Blaylock was living with his mother and stepfather in New Hampshire but a
fight with the stepfather sent him to Massachusetts where the prosecutor said
Blaylock threatened his stepmother and three stepsisters. Ultimately what
happened was him stabbing his father twice and so given the seriousness of
those and the facts of this particular case and the injuries that the
victim sustained and the fact that it required a bed fight and he is now
remaining in the hospital at this time the commonwealth points to serious
safety concerns relative to this individual's release. But Blaylock's
attorney argued that Blaylock is not a danger that he suffers PTSD, anxiety and
depression from a fight with his stepfather in New Hampshire and he said
the facts of what happened on Father's Day in Massachusetts are not clear.
There's a claim here of self-defense. He was attacked by the alleged victim. There's also a claim of accident that the victim charged the defendant and actually fell on the arrow.
In the end the judge found that the son is a danger. He ordered him held without
bail for 120 days. He's due back in court next month. Live in Framingham, I'm Bob
