Serbia 🇷🇸 vs. USA 🇺🇸 - Highlights | Week 2 | Women's VNL 2026

And the ball in the hands of the setter Slagana Slagana Mirkovic and right off the hop it's Avery Skinner for USA and as quick of a side out as you can imagine. He's got two aces this week, two aces in the VNL. Gochanin with the bump set across and blocked down the huge block up for USA on Zubich. Working incredibly hard. Anya Zubich the 21-year-old opposite hitter sends her serve at Eggleston. She takes a rip at it down the line. Off the touch there. Gordicic has five points already. The team's got a three-point lead. Skinner goes with the tip. Seemed to have found the spot but then Serbia gets underneath it. And the right side swing from Zubich rattles off the block and down. Serbia going from side to side. A beautiful pickup. Gochanin just slides in. Two aces in the VNL for Jordan Thompson. Until today then she just had one. Here's Titsa. Oh what a dig from Skinner. Eggleston gets a swing on it. Titsa another dig from Skinner or from Hens and Skinner then Thompson. Now Serbia in system. Titsa. Oh what a chain for Jordan Thompson. Couldn't quite get enough under it but great effort by both teams. I mean Morgan Hens with three big digs in that rally and that just goes. So not done yet says Serbia. Still two set points USA. Titsa serve taken by Skinner. Backing up. Here's Rettke on the slide played. Won't go. Poulter. Eggleston. Won't go. Czajic can't drop it into the pot. Poulter manages to reach it. Eggleston can't find the spot yet. Czajic. Free ball chance USA. Eggleston. Down the line. Down it goes. USA wins the set. I'm just gonna go after everything. Great pickup. Good vision from Thompson on the pickup. Poulter just has to lift. Give it time. Allow your hits to get in there and make the contact. Rettke takes it high. Poulter lifts yet again with the dig set. In the Italian league here is Jordan Poulter the former fighting Illini from the University of Illinois. Czajic goes cross court. Does she have a touch? Yes she does. Jordan Thompson. Skinner's nice flat serve. Czajic from the attack line. Skinner's going to get this up to the net. Eggleston finds it. Gets it and scores on it. Just kind of handcuffed Gojjanin a little bit. A great assessment of the situation from Skinner as this ball comes off of the hands of the defenseman Eggleston. Skinner just takes over. Puts it up high and what a savvy shot. Czajic goes deep and gets the ace and there's no doubt about it. And here's Samadi and she rips it from the right side. Here's Samadi. What a swing and Gojjanin still almost got it up. Oh my goodness me that was some swing. And she goes right back in the same area. USA handles it better and Asia O'Neill who's just come into the game. Three on the block. What timing. Was that Czajic who got it? I couldn't quite see on that quick replay. How about that quick swing from Skinner? Good for USA. Czajic serving for the set. Perfect pass and then Thompson with a rip. So not done yet says USA. First serve of the game for Asia O'Neill. Markovic with the back set. That's going to win it for Zubich. We're underway. Set number three. This match is all tied at one set apiece. USA looking for some answers here. They need some good hard swings. Thompson is dug by Gojjanin and Kordogic took that ahead of her setter. Jordan Poulter who grabbed her teammates for that lengthy chat after the second set. Doonan serving and how about the blocking from Avery Skinner? Zubich had to stutter a little bit on her approach. Wasn't as quick and as high as she Skinner. Her team up by five here in this third set. Ivanovic nice pickup by Czajic and through the middle Kordogic says nice set Markovic. From Korea second referee is Tugvig Katab from Egypt. Ina Redke coming off another great season in the Turkish league. Good pickup there. Poulter might have touched the net with her right arm and Serbia is going to challenge this. It's the second part of the play that I thought was interesting. So it's USA point and they're leading by a 15 to 7 margin an 8 point lead. Ivanovic has missed that one as well. The index finger. Redke away from the libro. Looked like that was telegraphed from on the tip but Serbia couldn't stop the wrist away. Eggleston's going to send this up to the net for Skinner. Her tip covered and Ivanovic sends it over. USA trying to build under five point lead but they've got Serbia scrambling. Antonovic over the net. USA in system. Pipe attack. No. Missed time. Antonovic and she scores. What a whip of a swing. Avery Skinner's 19th serve is an ace. Her first ace of the third set. Here we go. Set number four. USA leads in the match two sets to one. Logan Eggleston's serve going for a nice flat one but it went a little too low. So O'Neill gets to load up again for another serve. And Zubich shot down by the net. I don't know if Redke got it or if it was just the net. Leading by two. Trying to wrap up the set in four. And Serbia is going to score on the slide play from captain Maja Aleksic. Lead by two here in this fourth set and they've got Serbia scrambling a bit. Here's Cajic the leading scorer in the match. Can't get that one through. Hens delivers for Skinner who has to really run to play it. Mirkovic. Cajic. Skinner. At least Hens again is on it. And the back row attacks. Still they can't organize the pipe. Serbia keeps it going. Cajic is dug by Skinner. Avery Skinner swinging. Golchanin's got it. On we go. Cajic. Another swing. Hens again. Free ball. Serbia. Can they use it right here? Aleksic. Yes she can. This was a huge rally. Serbia threw absolutely everything. Mirkovic is spreading it around fast. Good pick up by Mirkovic. So Golchanin does the setting for Cajic. Guess who's under it? Hens. This is a big high set from Poulter and Skinner gets shut down. Everybody had time to set up. A record Husker at the University of Nebraska. Mirkovic goes with a back set to Zubic and that's a great choice. Jordan Thompson delivering. Titsa. And here's Ivanovic. The pipe attack. That's a pretty good swing. They get dug though. Golchanin gets under it. Titsa tries again. Another one-armed dig from Skinner. Eggleston. Can she finish? No. Thompson. Poulter. O'Neal. There it is. Timeout had the opposite effect that Serbia was hoping for. Now down by seven. We wanted the next two points for them to be their points. Mirkovic. Serbia trying to keep this game going. That's a solid serve. Golchanin calls off Ivanovic. That's a smart play. Retke does the setting for Skinner. Serbia's got this. Mirkovic sets. Poulkovic scores. Zubic rather. Mirkovic gets to keep her serving run going she hopes here. Poulter. The jump set. Down it goes. Skinner and that is it. United States wins the match in four sets. Just a little wobble in the fourth but they get it done pretty efficiently.
