Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe US President has asserted his influence over Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, claiming that his intervention has been critical to Israel's survival. However, analysts suggest a disconnect between the President's perception of his control over Netanyahu and Israel's urgent security concerns regarding Hezbollah, questioning whether US pressure can actually restrain Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
Speaking of Israel, Sanjay, we're getting in more breaking inputs. This, as the US President
has now commented, he's gone on to say that my relationship with Netanyahu is good,
but we have to keep him somewhat reasonable. He's also gone on to remind Netanyahu that without my
intervention, Israel would have been crushed. Let's quickly take this forward with Sanjay.
Sanjay, many, you know, observers of this relationship between the US President and
Israeli Prime Minister say that we've seen differences, but they've been able to override
those differences, even when similar scenarios cropped up in Gaza. But do you think that will
be applicable to Lebanon? Well, you know, there is an issue of language here and language is not
an incidental issue. It is really integral to what is going on here. Trump is speaking of Netanyahu
here as some sort of an errant child who he can control and bring to heel and control with a
little whack on his head and a tap on the back and said, stop, and Netanyahu will stop. That's
not how Israel sees it. Needless to say, that's not how Netanyahu sees it. For the Israelis,
the Hezbollah is an immediate threat sitting at their doorstep and attacking Israel. That is the
Israeli perception and the Israeli experience as well. And so will Israel hold back on hitting
back at Hezbollah? On the other hand, it may be that there are incidents in Israel that Israel
says these are attacks from Hezbollah and that becomes provocation or excuse or reason for Israel
to hit back in order to then derail the agreement that it does not want. It could be anything along
this spectrum of possibilities. But clearly, Israel is not going to hold back simply because
Trump has said that, look, you are badly behaved. Well, I'm going to give you a spat on the back.
If you don't obey, I'll scold you or even whack you. So you will do as I say.
This confidence of Trump is now being put to the test.
