FORT SMITH
A forgotten roadside stop in Arkansas turns into one of our most surprising vintage treasure hunts yet.

Our random ramble down Arkansas Route 22 takes us to a cluster of roadside sales, a thrift shop, and an antique mall that completely exceeds expectations. We brake for vintage and stop at a wide spot on the road where resellers gather under tents, around abandoned buildings, and inside a thrift shop filled with piles of old treasures. A beautifully restored Victorian sofa catches our eye, but it’s the smaller finds that truly excite us—a sweet Victorian child’s print for $5, a Cambridge Caprice console bowl for $10, and a 1960s bar jigger for $2. We’re especially thrilled to discover a Sadler Shakespeare teapot, and learn that the vendors are preparing for a weekend highway sale that immediately earns a place on our future shopping list.

Down the road is Fort Smith, Arkansas, where a visit to Remember When Antique Mall proves far better than its reviews suggest. Inside, we uncover a lustrous Westmoreland bird-on-nest jar and a stylish Matisse turquoise enamel jewelry set among Art Nouveau majolica, antique farmhouse primitives, art glass perfume bottles, compacts, accessories, signs, furniture, and old Coke trays. Every aisle offers something different, making the search as enjoyable as the finds themselves.

From inspiring room displays and carved American oak furniture to vintage décor and collecting treasures, these stops remind us that we never know what awaits around the next bend in the road. Join us as we explore these Arkansas finds for the first time and discover whether the best treasures are hiding where few shoppers think to look.
