Ukrainian Forces caused supply collapse for the Russians; tens of square kilometers were deoccupied

The blockade of Crimea's key transport arteries and deep-water ports on the Sea of Azov has resulted in a logistical collapse for the Russian army. Taking advantage of the enemy's supply paralysis, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched successful operations on several front lines at once. Military and political analyst Dmitry Snegirev discussed this on the FREEDOM television channel.
"It's worth noting that, until recently, Crimea was the primary logistical component of the Russian occupation army. This involved the transfer of personnel, fuel and lubricants, ammunition, and heavy armored vehicles from the Russian rear areas in Taman via train ferries to the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions through occupied Crimea. Crimea was also used as a storage base for those same ammunition and fuel and lubricants. Currently, the Russian army lacks this capability," he said.
Speaking about ferry crossings, the expert recalled that the last of the railway ferries, namely the Slavyanin, was destroyed by drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in April 2026.
"What's happening now is that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are cutting off occupied Crimea from mainland Ukraine. Strikes are being carried out both directly on the Chongar Isthmus and on the Chongar and Armyansk bridges. This effectively paralyzes the Russian occupiers' logistics and prevents them from using Crimea as a supply base. Moreover, I note that the occupiers themselves acknowledge the serious logistical challenges of redeploying personnel, ammunition, food, water, and, most importantly, fuel and lubricants directly to the line of contact," explained Dmitry Snegirev.
The point, as the analyst noted, is that not only the logistics system of occupied Crimea but also the port infrastructure of occupied Mariupol and Berdyansk came under fire. These deep-water ports on the Sea of Azov were actively used by Russian troops as key logistics hubs.
"Consequently, the occupiers are experiencing serious problems along the line of contact. In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are exploiting the occupiers' logistical problems to conduct successful raids in the direction of Stepnogorsk, Prymorske, and Kamensk. The Ukrainian Defense Forces have achieved significant tactical successes there. This has effectively straightened the front line. At the junction of three regions—Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk—the Ukrainian Armed Forces have de-occupied 47 square kilometers of territory. Moreover, I note that Ukrainian losses for the entire month of May amounted to no more than 14 square kilometers," the military analyst noted.
It is also noteworthy that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have achieved tactical success in the Liman direction, emphasized Dmitry Snegirev.
"Thanks to the Russian logistics blockade, the Ukrainian Defense Forces cleared Zelena Dolina and Shandrigolovo. 11.7 square kilometers were de-occupied. Furthermore, the Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced eastward from Rai-Aleksandrivka—this is the Slovyansk direction of the front. And most importantly, the Ukrainian Armed Forces dislodged the enemy from three settlements—Drobyshevo, Novoselivka, and Derilovo in Liman direction. As we can see, Ukraine's defenders managed to achieve significant tactical successes thanks to the so-called Russian transport lockdown," Dmitry Snegirev concluded.
