The Father of the Atomic Bomb | Oppenheimer

World War II or the Second World War, was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. The vast majority of the world's countries, including all of the great powers, fought as part of two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. Many participants threw their economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind this total war. Aircrafts played a major role, enabling the strategic bombing of population centres and the delivery of the only two nuclear weapons ever used in war. World War II was by far the deadliest conflict in history, resulting in an estimated 70 to 85 million fatalities, mostly among civilians.

With this catastrophic war raging worldwide and millions dying, there was a need for a weapon which could cause the utmost destruction and annihilation to the other side. On one side were the Allies who consisted of the United Kingdom, the United States the Soviet Union and China. On the opposing side were Axis, its principal members were Nazi Germany, the Kingdom of Italy and the Empire of Japan. Oppenheimer's mind would be the catalyst that would end the war and an age of destruction. But at what cost?
