Western Massachusetts experienced high heat and humidity on Thursday, impacting residents and outdoor workers.
It's still not officially summer,
but it sure feels like it's a day.
Not only did we have the heat,
but we also had the humidity.

should you should take if you're going
to be spending time outside in the heat.
Adam.
Well, Christina, temperatures made it up
into the lower 90s,
but the humidity made it feel even hotter.
Days like this make it difficult
when you have to work outside.
Construction workers braved the high heat
and humidity on Sumner Avenue
in Springfield Thursday.
At nearby Forest Park,
there were people getting their walks
and bike rides in before the hottest part of the day.
Others found some relief from the heat in the shade,
and some took advantage of the splash pad
that was opened due to the hot weather.
Some people didn't seem to mind the heat all that much.
I just enjoy it.
I like the hot weather.
Yeah, I like to sweat.
That's why I like this hill right here.
It's good exercise, yeah.
And then I go cool off my air conditioner later.
When it's this hot and humid,
there are some important precautions you should take
if you're going to be outside.
Try to walk early in the morning,
but I didn't get to do that today.
Drink a lot of water.
Stay covered.
Sunscreen, hat, the obvious.
When it does get this hot,
the best advice is to wear lightweight,
light-colored clothing.
Drink plenty of water.
Make sure you don't leave children or pets in the car,
and try and stay indoors in air conditioning,
especially if you have any underlying health issues.
And right now, it looks like the high heat and humidity
will be with us once again tomorrow.
