While families are getting their costumes and candy ready,
local pizza shops are preparing for a busy Halloween night.
22 News reporter Sarah Bien-Aimé joins us live in the studio with how
one West Springfield pizzeria is getting ready for the holiday rush.
Yeah Claire, believe it or not Halloween is one
of the busiest nights of the year for pizza shops
because families typically spend that day looking
for a quick dinner before heading out to trick
or treat. So with the holiday just one day away
we visited Mama Mia Pizzeria in West Springfield
to see how they're gearing up.
The co-owners told us they're expecting orders to pick up
later tonight and since Halloween is on a Saturday
this year they expect it to be even busier
with the biggest rush expected to begin just before it gets dark out.
Everything's fully stocked. You got your pepperoni,
your, you know, make sure we got all the dough ready,
make sure everything's fully stocked and we have everything ready,
ready to go. It's basically a lot of pizzas,
pizzas, salads and, you know, salads, wings.
And that 4 o'clock rush is no surprise.
According to the restaurant technology company Toast,
pizza sales jumped 50% on Halloween in 2024,
with those orders surging around 4 in the afternoon.
And they say the day before Thanksgiving
is the next busiest day for pizza shops.
Working for you, Sarah B. DeMay, 22 News.
