It's that time of year again when you can get locally grown strawberries at area farms.
You know, I was just checking my teeth because our gracious meteorologist brought some strawberries back for us.
Let's go ahead and check in with Adam Sharpko who visited a farm in Westfield that had plenty of strawberries available. Adam.
Well, Christina and Ciara, we're getting into the peak of the strawberry season and you can find some really nice strawberries right now.
At Kaczynski Farms in Westfield, they have plenty of strawberries available right now.
And the strawberries are looking good this season.
And there was some concern that the cooler temperatures we were having earlier this spring could have an effect on the strawberries.
Our biggest concern this year definitely was the possibility of frost or freeze when we had the bloom out.
And if the flowers are subjected to 32 degrees, the likelihood that they just turn black and they're done for the year.
Fortunately, that did not happen.
It's surprising us that it's doing as well as it is.
So it has really been producing some nice berries.
And the weather hasn't necessarily been with us, but I guess nature has given us a break.
So they look good.
In addition to the strawberries at Kaczynski Farms, you can also find strawberry pies in their bakery.
And they also have strawberry wine available too.
The strawberry season here in western Massachusetts runs until about the end of the month.
Now Kaczynski Farms doesn't have strawberry picking at their Westfield location,
but you can pick your own strawberries at their Feeding Hills location, K&P Berries.
Working for you, I'm 22 News Storm Team Meteorologist Adam Stremko.
