I'm sorry, Williams. Rick is off. The big story on Action News tonight is the
sexual assault investigation after a woman was attacked on a popular trail in
Bucks County. According to Pennsylvania State Police, they say it happened while
she was walking along the Delaware Canal towpath in Bristol Township. That's
where Action News reporter Elizabeth Burlington is now with the details
tonight.
This is where that assault happened. You can still see crime scene tape left
over from the investigation over the weekend. This is where the trail meets
Edgley Road, right near Bristol Pike. Right across the street is a pizza
shop. The employees there say the victim ran in there on Saturday
afternoon to call 911.
Pennsylvania State Police say the crime happened in the middle of the day
around two o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Authorities say a woman was
walking along the Delaware Canal towpath in Bristol Township when a man
sexually assaulted her. The victim was taken to a local hospital. That's scary.
I got kids out here. I have family. I don't want to ever see anybody get
hurt out here. It's a nice area. Scary. Yeah, that's scary. But I've never had a
problem. I've walked five in the morning, seven at night. Police say the
assault happened on the trail in between Haynes Road and Edgley Road.
People we talked to at a more populated trailhead near Grundy Park said of that
area, it gets a little treacherous back there. Not a lot of people go back
there. It's not an area I would travel alone. I would have a few people with
me or or my dog for protection. State police did not provide any information
about the suspect other than the fact that the female victim didn't know him.
Residents who have spent years enjoying the trail say it's sad that people
might not feel safe using it alone. Growing up in this area, it was it was a
carefree time. We were riding bikes and jumping on the ramps, fishing all the
things. But now it's now a whole entire family event to feel safe. Anyone with
any information about this incident is asked to contact Pennsylvania State
Police Troop M in Bristol Township, Elizabeth Worthington, Channel six
