I’m officially 53 years old, so I headed to the beach with one goal: get 53 complete strangers to wish me a happy birthday. What started as a simple birthday challenge turned into a surprisingly fun day filled with awkward interactions, kind strangers, and a reminder that people can still be pretty awesome. Will I reach all 53 birthday wishes before the day is over? 🎂 Happy Birthday to me! Subscribe for new videos every day! #JasonNash#BirthdayChallenge#SocialExperiment#BeachDay
I turn 53 years old today and I'm not leaving this beach until I get 53 happy birthdays.
Here's one happy birthday.
One down, 52 to go.
I feel alive.
You look good.
I do?
You look good today.
Oh my-
I think you looked good yesterday.
I look like a basset hound that I saw on a hike the other day.
You don't.
This basset hound is really cute.
He would have taken his face and it would have been like this.
My idea of a great birthday is probably not what anyone else's idea of what my birthday would be.
But the good thing about Naveen is she delivers.
Right now, we're going to the beach and we're going to be running four to five miles.
Most people on their birthday will go,
I don't want to run four to five miles on the beach on my birthday.
But to me, that is the most perfect thing I could do.
Look at this cloud cover.
No sun.
That's nice.
J-Dog's going to be rip roaring.
And I've got new Hoka One One's.
Those look nice.
They're really nice.
Naveen bought me new running shoes.
And the thing is, is they used to be called Hoka One One, but now it's called just Hoka.
But I know-
I know it as Hoka One One.
Because I was wearing Hoka's in 2016 and everybody made fun of me.
Hoka One One?
Yeah, I got beef with Josh Peck and I got beef with David Dobrik.
But that is the clickbait.
These guys made fun of my Hoka's.
In 2016, they were ranking on me.
And guess what?
Guess who wears Hoka's now?
Everyone.
I don't want to be negative today.
Talk about my Hoka One One beef.
Hoka One One sounds like a racial slur.
Maybe that's why they changed it.
I don't think so.
It might have been Hoka One One.
I always said One One.
I thought it was Hawaiian.
These are wild shoes that you got.
So Naveen's idea is, I can't leave the beach until I get 53 happy birthday.
Yeah, it's fun.
It's just crazy.
Happy birthday.
Yay, thank you.
We got four miles.
Let's do it.
There's no end, Shrimpa.
You keep saying four miles.
What do you mean?
It's whenever you get 53.
Are you serious?
We can't turn until you get 53.
We can't even head back?
How about a happy birthday, guys?
Oh, thanks so much.
We're at five.
Let's see what I was trying to do there.
I gave him a little nod like, come on.
Okay, I think I got to start being more friendly.
There's also not a lot of people out.
Yeah.
Be cool if there was like a bunch of guys playing volleyball, then we could pick up 10.
You know, like kind of walk over.
Pick up 10 guys?
Wait a minute, that came out wrong.
You know when you're like, the ball like comes to you, but you're not part of the game?
Yeah, your dream.
It's your, wait, what's that?
That's like your stupid dream.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then it's your turn to like have a little bit of athleticism.
Yeah.
Flying high, up above the clouds.
Guys, I can't sing.
That's why I always have the SeatGeek app on my phone.
So I can go watch people who really can sing.
SeatGeek is the most amazing ticketing app in the United States.
It's actually number one.
Today's video is brought to you by SeatGeek.
Yes, SeatGeek, the one and only ticketing app.
You've seen them sponsor my roasts.
You've seen them sponsor my videos.
And SeatGeek is here all summer long.
Sponsoring the vlogs on this channel.
And right now, guys, if you use my code Jason10,
you're going to get 10% off your order at SeatGeek.
An incredible offer from SeatGeek.
All right, let's check out the SeatGeek app and see what's happening in my neck of the woods,
as Al Roker would say.
Oh, BTS coming to SoFi Stadium.
Angels versus Dodgers.
Ariana Grande.
Bryson Tiller.
Gracie Abrams.
Who likes Gracie Abrams?
Me.
I guess it's the summer.
So there's just so many concerts and so many things to do.
And that's why you guys got to get the SeatGeek app.
Go to the link in the description right now.
Download the app.
Have it on your phone.
And use my code Jason10 and you're going to get 10% off.
My thanks to SeatGeek for sponsoring.
And now, back to the birthday video.
How dare you fly during a SeatGeek ad over me?
48 more.
48.
That's a lot.
Hey, come on, man.
Come on, man.
Give me a happy birthday.
Yo, man, I'm going to get a happy birthday out here, man.
Please, man, please.
Let me get one happy birthday.
Just one.
Come on, man.
Come on.
Let's get pick up two right here.
Hi.
How you doing?
Morning.
You can't seem too eager for it.
OK, OK, OK.
Be cool, be cool.
These shoes are amazing.
I feel like I could run forever.
I feel like I could do like five, six miles.
Happy birthday.
Hey, happy birthday.
Thanks.
You can't say it back.
It's not their birthday.
I got so excited somebody said it.
There's no way we're going to get 47.
I think so.
I think you thought there was no way we would get seven.
All right, come on.
This guy.
Nah, this guy won't say happy birthday.
He's too masculine.
Do you feel the birthday power?
Hey, thank you.
I got one.
Oh, thank you so much.
I think maybe I was holding you back.
You're kind of intimidating.
Oh, no, I'm not.
I'll see you later.
All right, guys.
Well, here we go.
I just picked up a couple happy birthdays.
It's a great little beach club right here.
Look at this.
That's kind of nice.
Sit out here with some friends.
I'm saying it like it doesn't cost $50,000 a year.
Hey, thanks.
Does that count as one or six?
Two of them said happy birthday.
OK, so we're at what?
44?
OK, let's see what we can get here.
Nothing.
Stingies.
Look at that dog.
Pretending to compliment a dog for a happy birthday.
How low can you go?
Jimbo, sing a song down here.
I think it will sound really nice.
I don't practice Santeria.
Oh, thanks so much.
Have a great day.
Yes.
I got two.
You did?
Yeah.
Was it the couple with the?
Yeah.
So I think we're at 13.
I think we should count that group of guys, six guys as one.
I don't do cheating.
You taught me cheating is not playing fair.
So now we're spending your birthday on the streets of Santa Monica
because of the lesson you taught.
You cheated rock, paper, scissors.
I don't cheat.
I get nervous.
He's training to be a firefighter.
Holy cow.
I can't imagine how much that weighs.
What does that weigh?
30.
Plus the 20 he had on the left.
How are you doing?
Good.
You okay?
Yeah.
I got a bunch of happy birthdays.
You did?
So many, I can't even count.
Are you being serious?
That group right there, I got like six.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
And I got two from two girls here.
And one girl's number too.
Oh, thanks.
We got one.
Hey, thanks so much.
That's really nice.
Hi.
Thanks so much.
Okay.
We're literally so pathetic.
We're like just waiting for birthday wishes.
It's your birthday.
Okay.
Here comes a group.
Get in position.
Here comes a group.
He's standing his way so they can see my hat.
I feel like I'm talking, saying something important.
The sand, it came from actually, you guys know Sprinkles Cupcakes?
They bury all their cupcakes in the sand.
We got like eight people.
We can knock out eight right now.
What kind of marathon is this?
It's fun.
I'll tell you the hardest part about being 53 is I feel 25.
And then that's not good.
Because it's like in my mind, I'm like, oh, maybe I'll be a singer.
Or maybe I'll be a musician.
Or maybe I'll be a stand-up comedian.
And then, but that's not good either.
Because it's like, dude, you're in the last act.
I don't like that.
You don't like that?
Morgan Freeman became an actor at 50.
And he's like a big actor.
He's not like, what?
You could be anything at any time.
Okay.
All right.
Well, then maybe it's a good thing.
That's true.
But it's over now.
It must have been good.
But I lost it somehow.
Someone's nude down there.
Sorry.
Look at these people.
I'm too cheap to pay for the class.
I have binoculars.
How are you guys?
Thank you so much.
You see my walking stick?
Put it down because I fear people will be scared to talk to you with that.
Oh, did you hear that?
Hey, thank you so much.
We found a stick.
Do you hear it?
Hey, let me get it close to your mic on your chest.
Girl, you know I want you.
Oh, no.
Oh, my God.
Oh.
Oh, it's a new sound.
Now I can do it.
Your love was handmade for a lot of happy birthdays over here.
Yeah, that's one.
Yeah, that's two.
Watch this.
We're going to get off 53 right now.
Wait, careful, careful.
There's a dog looking at your stick.
Can we get 53 yet?
No.
That's at least 10.
No, no, no.
Don't put that.
Oh, no.
Very bad.
Hey, very bad.
Come on, man.
I want to go home.
I think that's just traffic.
OK, I think we got 53.
Is that a dead person?
Where?
In that car.
We can solve a murder.
Can you hear it?
I got two just now.
We just missed it, but it was dead.
Two ladies.
It seems like the ladies are more friendly.
Ladies and Australian men.
Wait, are you saying what's your type?
No, we're most likely to say happy birthday.
Are you saying what your type is?
Hey, thanks so much.
See, the problem we messed up is we came too early.
Yeah, like the morning crowd, they're tired.
Yeah, the morning crowd wasn't here.
There's nobody else.
But now if you came like 10, we could probably knock this out 15 minutes.
Oh, look at you like soaring now.
You're so full of it.
No, I was just getting a little defeated because there really weren't a lot of people out.
I hope this stick doesn't deter people.
But I think you should put the stick down for like a dog.
I don't want to lose the stick.
One more.
That's not littering, right?
Hey, check out my stick.
I can't do it.
Maybe we should maybe we should donate this to like the L.A. Philharmonic.
And a gift from Jason and Naveen Nash, an arpeggio wooden chime rod.
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, Mr. Nash.
And now from Japan, Yo-Yo Wang.
That's crazy.
We'll play the chime rod.
Oh, thanks so much.
Oh, yours tomorrow?
Oh, have the best time.
OK, Gemini's.
That's the time where you say happy birthday back.
The one time you can say it like you did it.
Happy birthday, too.
Sorry.
Why did you pick this back up?
I don't know.
I feel like we're like we have a goldmine.
You think this is something?
I think we should put it in the car.
We really would.
We need somebody else to confirm that this is something.
Oh, yeah, like an auctioneer.
You guys got glasses on?
He's got white gloves.
Puts it on the table.
Very nice.
Very nice specimen, indeed.
I'll give you $18,000 for it.
